What's not wrong with this car?? I bought it used with an extended warranty. After a year everything went downhill. It has been in and out the GMC service at lease 3 times a year. I don't even know where to start. The airbag light is on but it isn't covered under the airbag recall. What about safety? there has been a check stability trac and traction lights on as well on several occasions. When those lights come on the vehicle decelerated while driving across the kentucky bridge which almost caused a 12 car pile up. In addition, it also skips gears. When trying to speed up it jerks into the next gear like a hiccup. The dealership stated these problems were electric and wear covered under my extended warranty. I suggested that maybe the transmission was bad. However, they stated otherwise. Literally, 4 months later the transmission is out. But what a surprise no longer under warranty. Now I'm looking at a $5,000 bill. The service department stated that it is transmission failure due to an electric issue (out of my control). There is nothing that I could have done to prevent it from happening. But after talking to gm they, basically explained that they don't stand by their product after 100,000 and that they can't prove that the issues are actually manufacturers defect. I strongly disagree as there are hundreds of people experiencing the same hardships as me with the 2008 vehicle. On carcomplaints. Com, for GMC Acadia, 2008 is the worst year with the most complaints for transmission failure. How aren't these already recalled by now? they are nothing but junk! not work anything. Even a GMC service rep. Said these were the worse year and get them in the shop all the time. Why won't GMC just isssue a recall and take them off the market. I have all the proof of regular maintenance and service receipts.
We have a 2008 GMC Acadia that now has approximately 164,000 miles. It was recently found out that a water leak has caused the airbag system to be come completely disabled. Water leaks in these model vehicles are a known issue and gm has put out technical service bulletins about these leaks and how to fix them. Because our vehicle is over the mileage limit the local dealership is saying gm will not warranty the leak repair or the damage to the airbag system from the leak. We are now faced with a bill of $1600 to repair the airbag system and unknown amount to repair the water leak and any other damage caused by it to the vehicle. What I do not understand is why a leaking sunroof with admitted factory defect issues from the manufacture has a mileage limit for warranty repairs. I can understand a time limit. This issue has now made our vehicle completely unsafe for my family to drive and ride in.
Vehicle will cut off, still runs after switch is off, when making a turn popping in the wheel, steering gets hard when making a turn, something kills battery and it leaks inside, this happens whether in motion or not.
I hear water swishing around in the ceiling, however nothing seems to be wet. The sunroof is always closed. Twenty minutes into the drive to work, the emergency brake light on the dash board came on while I was driving on the highway (even though the brake was not engaged). . . . The dash brake light and chime sound continued until I reached my destination. When I finally stopped and turn the car off and on. . . Both had stopped. After completing my work day, I started the car again and the emergency brake dash light came on again. . . The brake was not engaged. . . . I turned the car off and restarted. . . Then it went away. I still here water in the roof when I turn corners.
This car has leaked since the day I bought it. I have taken it to the dealership I bought it from multiple times. The last time they looked at it they told me that there was a leak but they could not find where it was. My amp has shorted out due to all the water and I can imagine what's next. I am so scared to drive my car because of what could go out next. I wish GMC would do something about all of our issues with the same water leak! I am getting pretty tired of getting rained on inside my car.
When it rains, water leaks from the air bags. Water also leaks from the light fixtures and dvd player in the middle seating. Water also comes in somewhere under the dashboard/electrical panel area, onto the passenger side floor. The last time it rained, there was standing water on my passenger side floor. This has happened while driving it in the rain and while it was parked. Stablitrak and traction control lights are constantly coming on - even after looked at. - I have pictures of lights on. Also constant service engine soon light problems.
The contact owns a 2008 GMC Acadia. While the vehicle was stationary, rain water entered into the cabin, which caused some electrical failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 115,000.
Front sunroof leaks and fills up floorboards with water. Known issue with sunroof drains clogging and poorly sealed sunroof design. Floorboards hold electrical equipment.
I have an airbag warning light on and and a message on the display. Took to dealer and the said they already performed the recall that was on the vehicle and wanted to charge me $675 to open up the dash and see what is wrong. The code that comes up is too high resistance in airbag system. I am filing this complaint for two reasons, one is how do I know they actually performed the procedure in the first place and,two can't it be defective again. My concern is safety in nature that my airbag won't open in an accident.
I just replaced my left side low beam light for the second time in the past 12 months. When I pulled out the old bulb, it looked burnt on the tip of instead of the first time I treplaced it a year ago when the wires became loose and burnt out like a typical light bulb. Today is the second time within a week that the speakers went out and there was no sound coming out at all. The main fuse is good and I drained the water from the connectors on all the doors. There seems to be a shortage somewhere in the system because it would take 5-10 minutes for the sound to come back on. Does anyone know any solutions to fix this problem diy instead of taking it to the dealer?.
I own a 2008 GMC Acadia I have had it used since Jan 2015 I have had it in dealership almost every 3 months since I bought it. I was recently driving and had a fire in the passenger heated seat where my daughter was sitting and it burned a small hole in her jeans so far GMC is checking to see if its a defective equipment failure or not? in the mean time my sunroof has quit working and now my roof is leaking and my car smells like mold. The whole electrical system is going crazy with flashes of interior lights. I also had the vehicle stop on me in the middle of parking and found out the power steering pump needed to be replaced. They need to have a recall on these vehicles because our children ride with us and they are unsafe especially now that her jeans are burned and she has a small pink spot from the heated seat. The dealership told me today likely the seat wont be replaced and if its not I will be contacting me a lawyer. My children s safety come first. Hopefully the will also do a recall on the electrical equipment and the sunroof leaking because our vehicles are not safe after water gets onto all the electrical devices and shorts out and may cause a fire next.
2008 GMC Acadia is taking on water. Heater blower stopped working. Later, key locked in the ignition. Found the fuse block had been damaged by water leaking from the sunroof. Drain hoses were not plugged. Called GMC and was told my VIN not covered under recall.
I have had service air bag lights come on all the time along with service stabletrack and and I think something with the fuel when I get gas it makes weird sounds and won't start without pumping the gas to get it started.
The airbag on/off lights would both light up at the same time so you didn't know if it was functioning properly. The warning "service airbag" came on. This was while driving any speed, any type road, also while the car was in park. Key would not come out of ignition, the engine would turn off but electrical would still be working. Also the power saver mode kicked in and we had to have the vehicle jumped.
Vehicle was southbound on county road and attempted to make a right turn at the intersection, when the car struck the south embankment of the t intersection, as driver was unable to navigate the turn. None of the side or front airbags in the car deployed as a result of the crash. I am also unsure if the seat belt had operated correctly (seat belt was being worn at the time of the crash). The driver's head hit the side window and as a result he sustained a head injury and an eye injury resulting in optic nerve damage and complete loss of vision in the eye. I understand there were problems with the airbags on these vehicles with a possible recall issued. I do have all the corresponding accident reports, medical reports, etc.
Sunroof continues to leak water. Moisture mildew growth in interior. Car gets saturated every time. Driver side floor boards full of water. Electrical warning lights continue to sound and flash. . . Today it's the brake warning. Water is corroding my electrical system. . . It's not safe! GMC keep ignoring this problem, even though this issue is an epidemic of complaints all over the web! this should have been a recall years ago! this is absolutely unacceptable!.
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that water filled up in the fuse box from a faulty drainage for the windshield wiper fluid causing the vehicle not to start. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 171,000. Ad.
Rain leak into car, water pouring into frame and trapped in frame of car, roof of car. Water leaking out of airbag locations. When we drive, we can hear water moving around in frame, see water leaking out of airbag areas in frame of car. Water trapped inside frame of car, rotting inside of car, mold, mildew potential, fire hazard. GMC says they are not responsible for repairs, car no longer under warranty. How can I safely drive a vehicle in which both the airbags and electrical system is compromised??.
Water enters the interior of the vehicle as the sunroof drains continue to clog up and water falls on driver and driver side electrical fuses.
Nothing in the car will make sound anymore. The door chimes don't work, the backup sensor does not sound, turn signals don't make sound and the radio is on but does not sound. I had to reset to factory settings and it still makes no sound.
There are many recalls on this vehicle. Did dealership says that they fix them and yet they're still not resolved. These issues include the electrical system, the airbag system, the stabilitrak system, issues with water leaking through the sunroof, l]]as well as water leaking into the interior lights. There are also issues with liftgate working correctly. All of these are issues with my Acadia. I need to know what to do to handle this properly. This car has turned into a death trap. I have been trying for years to get these things resolved. I have got to run around the entire time.
Hvac blower motor submerged in water. Causing motor to fail. No defrost. Effecting field of vision. No sunroof on this model Acadia. Seems to be from condensation. Also concerned about electrical failure.
I purchased this vehicle, and was told there were no active recalls and nothing wrong with vehicle, the dealership supposedly had took it thru a hundred point inspection, immediately the air bag light came on, it started losing antifreeze and the check engine light came on , after several trips to the service dept at this Toyota dealership, I am still having issues, they fixed the small things like the water pump, the rear wiper blade, electrical but the engine light still comes on and I had it checked out and it is the transmission, it is going out, and the air bag (service air bag soon) is still on, but was supposedly fixed by a recall in 2011, either it was a bad part, or it was not serviced at all. I have been driving for 40 years and I have always been a loyal gm owner, especially the Buick lasabre which I drove for 15 years, but I am not happy with the quality of this vehicle and the dealership that I purchased it at, and they are rated by the bbb as a. I also do not like the fact that on gm commercails it states non gm owners, like come on in, we will take care of non gm owners but not the loyal ones. I think it very important to stick with american brands and love gm, just very dissatisfied with this one. I think gm should fix this car, the air bag and especially the transmission!!!!.
This vehicle leaks through the sunroof and it goes all around the interior of the vehicle. Since it leaks inside I'm afraid it is going to reach the electrical components of the vehicle. It also leaks around where the battery is at an it can cause a shortage. Water also falls in through all the way to the carpet where the driver and passenger side, I don't know if the rear rows are affected. This makes the car have a ugly smell and sometimes I can't even breathe in my own car-- it smells extremely humid and horrible. The water that leaks in also leaves nasty marks around the interior roof of the car that really makes me feel depressed as soon as I open my door and see it. This problem really concerns me and I've also see multiple reviews of people with the same vehicle that have this problem. I can't drive my car in the rain or take it through the car wash without water leaking inside, and I hope one day it doesn't cause a fire in the electrical components.
The cluster stays dim when the vehicle starts up sometime it stays dim from 5-10 minutes or sometimes when I hit a bump. Also there are various times when it want crank up until I get a jump start now it's begin to happen more regularly. The battery was checked it's good , the charging was checked it's good. It has been checked by the place I bought it from several times they can't seem to find anything wrong with it.
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the sunroof was leaking and there was water building up. The dealer diagnosed that the fuse box needed to be replaced due to the leakage but was unable to determine the failure for the leak. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 88,000. Ne.
Vehicle leaked causing fuse box to short out.
When driving through recent rainstorm I turned around to grab a toy for my son and water was dripping on my head. I looked up and it was literally pouring out of the light fixture and each light was filled like a pool. Completely unacceptable!.
While I was driving my light buttons under my radio went out for a minute. They was going on and off when I hit the gas or brakes. The next day I drove it my signal light was not showing that it was on or working but it was working from the outside. My hand gauge would drop to 0 and then go back up to my correct speed. My radio screen went out my mute button on steering wheel does not work anymore. When I cut my car off and I open my drivers door the radio would automatically cut off but now it takes a minute for it to do so. Today I was going to go out for lunch but when I cut my truck on I think it cut right back off. So I cut it back on and it stayed on a while I was just too scared to move. I am scared all these electrical problems will have me on the side of the road soon. This is not good.
I just purchased a 2008 GMC Acadia one month ago. We live in washington state and it rains alot. The first couple days of driving the vehicle, we experienced water dripping all over our seats, floor, and in corners of windows when we drove it getting my 3 children and myself wet. I didn't think it was such a big deal at first since I figured it was a minor leak I could easily fix. Over the next 2 weeks, I noticed my front headlight would flicker on and off and sometimes not work at all. I also figured it was a typical vehicle issue. Up until a week ago I tried to start up the vehicle and it wouldnt start, I knew it was the battery. I took it to get checked only to discover the battery, which is located under the floor board on the passenger back side , was submerged with water. The batttery was taken and checked out good out of the vehicle. I researched online that there plenty of others experiencing this same issue and there are no recalls in place now. What am I supposed to do? this is a definite safety issue as its affecting the electrical system. I have a 2 year old,4 year old, and a 5 year old. My 5 year old has health issues and my husband and I bought this vehicle in hopes to have a reliable and most importantly safe vehicle because he is in the u. S. Navy and is away alot on deployments and underways. The rain draining inside also causes mold which is dangerous for my children. The dealership wants to charge us almost 1,000$ to repair this. They were unsure how to fix this permanently so they referree me to the body shop.
There is a potential fire hazard with the daylight running lights overheating before they burn out on both driver and passenger side. The bulb gets so hot that they melt the bulb socket causing an electrical fire hazard. The heat also has made the headlight housing brittle and cracked to where the socket wont stay in place inside the headlight housing thus causing the bulb to lay on the plastic causing a fire hazard. General motors knows about this fire hazard because I have called it to there attention and because they have a customer satisfaction program #13135. They have also recalled some 2007 and 2009 to 2011 vehicles but not 2008 with the same problem.
My GMC arcadia 2008 constantly stalls on me the issues started August 5 and has continue up to last night August 17th. While I'm driving the car would shut off on me and the check engine light would appear. I wont be able to restart the car so I had the car towed to the nearest GMC dealer. After paying for a diagnostic report the mechanic told me they could not find any codes indication the check engine light even came on. Last night I was scared because I left work at midnight after driving about 10 minutes the car started jumping then turned off and the check engine light came on in the middle of the street . I called on-star and they were dispatching a tow truck because the car would not come on. After 45 minutes I tried to turn the car on and it came on so I cancelled the tow truck service. This is a issue that's been happening for the last 2 weeks. I cant get the issued fixed because the last 2 diagnostic reports that were ran states no issues. I also had on-star run a diagnostic report right when the issue happened and they also told me they don't see any issues. I took a picture with my cell phone when the check engine light came on but no one seems to know the issues the SUV is facing. Everything stays on the radio the lights just the car shuts off and wont start for like 45 minutes to an hour. I've looked on different GMC arcadia forums and it seems I'm not the only person having this issue with this same make model and year car. Someone on the forum suggested I make a compliant at the ntsa.
The vehicle refused to shift out of first gear and the check engine light became illuminated upon pulling out into the roadway. At 25 miles per hour the rpms were 4000 and it just would not shift. We pulled over, called for help and were stranded on the side of the road with two small children. We were hours away from home, and had to call family from hundreds of miles away to come help. The vehicle after being turned off and sitting for a while did then return to normal operation when restarted. Vehicle was driven home and two days later the very same problem recurred. Going to trade in this pos before someone gets hurt.
Water leaking after rain storm down to floor mats on both the driver and passenger side. We had our windshield recently replaced back in may of this year, so I thought that this was maybe the issue and took back to the glass repair shop. Upon investigating further, they found that the issue was happening to many of the GMC vehicles on the electrial recall. I went to to gm's website and entered my VIN and nothing about this issue on our personal vehicle. In our small community there have been two house fires, major damage caused by the electrical system ignition etc on gm vehicles. We do not want to be the next victum.
Turned off vehicle when arrived home. Opened the door and realized car was still running, keys were in my hand. Put key back in ignition and jiggled, nothing happened, car still running. Turned key to middle and then to start, turned off again and car finally shut off. I tried to start again to see if happened and the yellow light (malfunction light) came on. This time I was able to shut off the car. Called dealer to schedule service for this issue and recall 14030 that I just received in the mail, they can't get me in until July 11th. A few hours later I went out to car to put Acadia manual and grocery bags back in vehicle, unable to unlock back door with remote. Tried to start car but nothing happens except clicking noise and the yellow malfuction light comes on. Odomoter reading above is estimate because the car is dead, unable to view actual odomoter reading.
