Takara recall it keeps shutting completely down in the middle of highway and this affects everything steering, complete loss of power to vehicle. No codes to indicate something is wrong !!!! extremely dangerous this has continued to occur even after parts have been replaced brand new. More than 5 times already. This will most certainly lead to death. I have 3 children with me at all times. That's 4 life's that could be lost because of this problem!!!! . We have been extremely lucky because it has shit down in the middle of the night and bridges where there is nowhere to get on the side but remain in the lanes where traffic is 70 mph and up!!!! this needs to be recalled immediately!!!!.

The vehicle is having issues with transmission, there is a recall on other vehicles of the same make and model in a large range of years. The recall is a transmission solenoid. 20 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2019

While accelerating I've noticed my vehicle has some type of wave plate issue but it seems common for these vehicles. It jerks and shakes and it's not safe.

21 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2018

On 4 separate occasions within a 3 week period the vehicle would accelerate while driving without driver prompts or control (rpms revved from 2000 to over 6000 and speed would increase from 50 mph to over 85 mph with accelerator pegged to the floor. ) the only way to correct this was to put the vehicle in neutral, coast to the side of the road, stop the vehicle and turn off the engine for 10-15 minutes, then restart it and it would run normally for short periods of time. If I drove the vehicle for more than 30 minutes at a time it would react this way every time and nearly caused me to hit 2 vehicles on the interstate. On one occasion I had to impact a guardrail to slow the vehicle down. I took the vehicle to a certified GMC dealership who stated on both occasions they could not repeat the problem after driving it for 5-10 minutes or less than 15 miles. When I informed them that it only occurred after 30-45 minutes of driving, the technician stated he didn't have time to drive the vehicle that length of time or distance and went on to say no diagnostic codes were tripped so there wasn't any repairs he could do or that GMC would authorized. The vehicle was under warranty. . Read more...

22 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

The timing chain is going bad for no reason, and I know is not olthe only one, a friend of mine has the same truck with the same problem for no reason as well. . . I was on my way to school and the truck lost the power and didn't come back so, I had to call the tow truck and take it to the shop where they told me that the time chain was bad. I would really appreciate that you do some research and help me and other people who has the same truck as me.

23 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/26/2018

2008 GMC Acadia with 140,000 miles ran fine on Saturday 11/24/18. No noise, no issues, no warning lights. Monday 11/26/18, engine would turn over, but not crank. Again, no noise, etc. Had towed to a local GMC dealership that has completed all work and maintenance on car. Results=? broken timing chain. ???? there was a recall on 2007 and 2009 GMC Acadia's. If there was assistance with 2007 and 2009, how could they not have sca/recall for 2008. It is obvious that the problem was not corrected in 2007 or they would not have had to include 2009. GMC needs to step up to the plate. We have had multiple engine issues with this 2008 GMC Acadia. Please advise.

24 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2018

Transmission failed, transmission slipped out of gear, transmission stuck in first gear, gm approved a 2013 safety recall for this vehicle, the transmission failed in 2017, the transmission was repaired and the entire engine has been replaced twice. The transmission is failing again because it is a product defect that is dangerous. Gm has refused to repair or replace the vehicle and the autonation has refused to repair or replace the vehicle. Gm and autonation have sold a dangerous used car with a fraudulent intent. Gm and autonation have ratified the intentional fraud. The car needs to be replaced immediately because it is still dangerous to drive and the transmission is currently failing again.

25 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2017

This is the 3rd time happening. Driving normally engine light comes on and engine doesn't change gears it stays on 1st gear I have to pull over. Turn the car off and turn it back on a few times and tried to drive to see if it starts changing gears again until I can get to auto shop / dealer. They check the car with computer gives code p0700 , they have been trying to find out whats the issue with the car. Everywhere we look up online tons of people with the same situation . GMC is a big company they need to make a recall on transmission this is insane how many problems Acadia from 2007 till 2009 have been having . Worst part is certain cars get called to gm defect programs others dont. Please make a recall I was with my baby in the car in the middle of the highway going 30 mph !.

26 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2017

Transmission problem I am being told. . . No warning signs! stopped at a red light and went to accelerate and Acadia would not go faster than 25 mph! now I am being told I need a new transmission at 95000 miles GMC is a joke! will never own another one!.

27 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2017

When travelling home on the highway after school shopping with my two children my vehicle suddenly reduced power, became uncontrollable and wouldn't allow me to get out of the way of the rapidly approaching vehicles behind me in time. I was able to get to the shoulder, after the reduced engine alert appeared. Stabiltrak was also disabled and one more feature I cannot remember. I had to shut my vehicle down and sit with two children in the car waiting for the car to somehow right itself. After 10 minutes I tried turning it on and the errors were gone and the car drove again, except rough. I took it to the local auto store and the diagnosed it with the code reader as tac. Throttle body. The person at the counter said they see this all the time with this vehicle. In fact, it should be a recall since it's so common and a clear flaw in the design. To the tune of $199 you can replace the part and have the same thing happen all over again at some other random, unsafe time! thank you gm for yet another unreliable family vehicle. I will have no choice, but to replace the part, as this is the car used for every day transportation in my household to school, work and back. Researching the internet horror stories can be found everywhere. It seems tragedy has to happen to make this $200 part a recall. Please redesign and replace. This mom cares for her kids.

29 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

30 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2017

I purchased a used 2008 GMC Acadia in may 2017 ever since I purchased this vehicle I have had nothing but problems I purchased this vehicle because my daughter is a senior in high school and I knew that we would be needing it to travel from state to state for college tours. Every since I purchased we have not been able to travel because of the continuous light to come on, continuous codes that comes on and it causes the car to run horribly I am spending $20-$30 a day on gas and I'm also noticing that the oil is just evaporating but I'm not seeing it on the ground I continue to take it to the mechanic he continue to fix things that the codes gives him. I'm still spending money and I'm still not getting any results I have not been able to travel in this vehicle because I refuse to get on the highway with my child and breakdown in the middle of nowhere. What we need to do is start a petition with GMC because if everyone is having these problems then it is a serious problem I am to the point where I am ready to start a lawsuit. I mean let's be honest what are we waiting for either us or one of our loved ones to die and is known death trap. There are so many recalls on this vehicle that all of them should be just called in and repaired apparently it's a problem with GMC assembling the vehicle and they do not want to own up to their responsibilities and it's not fair to us that I lives are at stake.

31 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2017

I'm having transmission problems diagnosed by two different mechanics. I found found that GMC announced a technical service bulletin for this specific repair. However, I was told GMC might not cover the cost of repairs because the problem is "too new," so I have to continue to drive my car -- with the problem -- until it becomes severe enough for a proper code to come up on diagnostics. This makes me feel very unsafe and angry.

32 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2016

The contact owns a 2008 GMC Acadia. The contact noticed one arm was fractured on the liftgate. The contact's daughter sustained injuries to the hand, but did not require medical attention. The dealer diagnosed that the arms needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to operate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the cause of the failure was undetermined. In addition, the side air bag warning indicator illuminated contiuously. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 15v415000 (structure) and 14v118000 (air bags). The failure mileage was unknown.

33 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/29/2016

My wife was driving down the highway and the car suddenly would not go on a high volume highway. It turns out the transmission solenoid block went bad. I have looked into it and there has been many complaints of same year, model, and make. My wife and children were in the car and wereally very distraught. If there is so many complaints on this vehicle for the same very expensive problem, why not recall. $4000. 00.

34 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2016

While driving the vehicle at a normal speed (55) on a highway, a dinging sound comes on and the car goes into reduced power mode, losing speed. The stabilitrak and the traction control warning comes on. This makes it difficult to cross traffic at intersections as the car will barely accelerate. There is no warning that this is going to happen. Also, the cars behind you do not know why you are slowing down. Then when you turn the car off and restart it, the lights go off and the car drives fine. After three trips to the GMC dealer, the throttle body was determined to be the problem. GMC has issued special circumstances warranty on the 2007 & the 2009 but not the 2008. I do not feel that the warranty is sufficient. I do not understand why there is not a recall because after searching the forums, I have found that there are numerous complaints with this happening. I had my grandkids in the car with me and we could have been hurt when we had the sudden loss of power we experienced.

35 Engine And Engine Cooling problem
