Nothing has happened yet, however this recall has been known for almost a year and gm is not working to resolve the issue. They only state that there is no eta on the remedy. The agent also lied to me about when the recall was issued. He told me February of 2024 and my letter was sent and dated June 2023.
The contact owns a 2014 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated. In March 2024 I received a letter from gm saying "that parts are now available to repair your vehicle" relating to the 2023 airbag recall. However, the local gm dealer advised me that while it placed an order for these parts 11 days ago, it still has not received the parts and told me that gm has provided no "eta" for when these parts would be received. Gm has failed to replace the airbag component(s) within a reasonable period of time and as of this writing I have no idea when the parts will truly be available. As a result, our family continues to be at risk from a potentially exploding airbag.

There has been a recall on my vehicle for 9 months and there is still not a resolution from gm. I have called every dealer near me to try and have this recall fixed as it is a major safety hazard. I could be seriously injured or killed if this is not fixed. Gm says that do not yet have a resolution and this isn’t okay!.
My safety and the safety of my family continues to be at risk due to gm’s failure to resolve this issue nearly a year after the recall was issued. I’ve been patient, but this is unacceptable to still have no timeline for resolution.
See attached letter for details.
There is a recall for airbag system that is still unresolved from may of 2023.

I took my 2014 GMC Acadia into the dealership I purchased it at because my airbag light was on. This was before the recall. I was told at that time that nothing was wrong and and I probably hit a bump and juggled something loose. I paid $190 for that. Now my vehicle is in the shop and I can no longer operate it or sell it because it is deemed unsafe due to this recall. I contacted GMC and there is no remedy for this. It has been 8 months. This is not timely. They would not offer a replacement, refund or a loaner vehicle. I recorded this call and received a case number. I believe this is against federal law. I then contracted the dealership I purchased the vehicle through and they will not provide a rental or repair or replace my vehicle either. N fact, they were trying to get me to do $4,000 in repairs. This may fall under the lemon law and I contacted an attorney. Some people have been without vehicles 8 months now since this recall occurred. This is absurd. I had one vehicle that now I cannot use. I need to be made whole. I have 5 children. Who is responsible? I will not stop until I get compensated. There are a total of 6 recalls out on my car. Only one has been closed. The seatbelt. The other recalls could cause major damage to expensive components like the engine and transmission. The euc was under recall and was never fixed in my vehicle also. I found this out through a search on kbb. Com. This may have in turn caused more out of pocket expenses.
Called dealer faulkner GMC multiple times while recall was in force they kept saying they would schedule me when part was available found out that recall was over never got the airbag replaced this is a serious safety defect that needs to be fixed please investigate.
The air bags safety recall has been out since may and not even an ounce of new information has come out with any updates on when we will be seeing new airbags, it’s very unsafe for drivers to be driving these vehicles and possibly have a fender bender and die because the airbag was faulty. We want an update it should be illegal for any of us to have to wait this long without even an update on a timeline of when the bags will be available because most of everyone who is going to get a new vehicle/trade in is being screwed because of the recall. GMC has had multiple recalls within the last couple of years and I wish I would have known that before but that’s in the past. Please protect us and get them in gear or atleast hire them a marketing team t help with updates.
Passenger airbag indicator light stays "on" at all times(with or without a seated front passenger) indicating that "passenger airbag is " off". Concern that the airbag system is not functioning properly, thus exposing the front seat passenger to injury in the event of an accident. Yes. On 02/24/2023 the vehicle was inspected by an independent service center. Note: a copy of the report/findings is available. The tech determined that two conditions existed; codes b0023 and b0085. Only my independent service center has inspected/tested the vehicle. On 11/24/2023 I contacted my GMC dealer to discuss the issue. I was informed of my options. It is my intention to schedule an appointment ASAP. The problem began in January 2023 with the indicator lamp coming on randomly.

There is an open safety recall and gm is unable to fix it. Because of this recall my vehicle is not safe to drive, no dealer or private seller wants to buy or give fair market value for a vehicle with a safety recall that can’t be fixed. I have seen the resale value drop from $12k to less than $2k since the recall. I should not be forced to drive an unsafe vehicle for an unknown amount of time. This needs to have a remedy.

Safety recall n232404980 was issued on my vehicle on may 10, 2023. As of today, October 9, 2023, GMC is still not able to make the repair for the safety recall, which as stated, can result in serious injury or death if the airbag deploys. It has also rendered my vehicle almost worthless. I feel like 5 months is way too long to wait for a safety recall such as this. This is not timely.

I received a recall for my vehicle months ago due to an airbag issue. The recall states there may be metal fragments in my airbag. This makes the car unsafe to drive. GMC still has no estimated time frame for when the parts will be available. I can’t afford to go out and buy another car while this one just sits. I don’t know how I’m getting my child to and from school starting the day after tomorrow. GMC will not offer a courtesy car and will not buy back the vehicle. This is unacceptable that they just expect me to drive this vehicle knowing there is a chance the safety equipment could kill the occupants of the vehicle.
I learned of airbag recall, and have tried to get something done. No one will help me. Guess I'm stuck with a killer vehicle.
