Subject of the problem: service brakes/hydraulic brakes problem of the vehicle: while driving, the brake pedal sometimes suddenly goes all the way down without resistance, and the vehicle does not slow down as expected. In order to regain brake pedal twice. Frequency of the problem: this issue occurs intermittently, but it poses a serious risk because the vehicle may not stop when needed. I already had the brake booster kit and hose replaced at an authorized GMC dealership because I was told this was the cause. However, the exact same problem continues to happen after the repair. Safety concern: this appears to be a defect that affects braking performance and safety. The issue occurs intermittently while driving (e. G. , at stop lights, low-speed braking, or during normal driving). It has happed multiple times since the repair. This problem could cause loss of braking power and result in a crash. It is extremely dangerous and has not been resolved by the manufacturer's recommended repair. I have called the GMC service center at 18004678782 and 18002221020 with this problem. They told me that they could do nothing about it and to deal with the dealership directly myself and they can not do anything. I have talked to the dealership but they just tell me there was another problem other than the initial problem they told me. The dealership did the first checkup and that problem was not fixed. Then went in again because the same problem was happening so they did another checkup and told me there was another problem not the initial problem they told me. The second checkup they did, the part and labor was $2,700. I went in with the same problem and have to pay that much. The problem was not solved with the initial diagnosis they gave and now have pay extra ($2,700 - second checkup price) to fix the problem they did not fix. Thank you.
The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated while coming to a stop, the contact heard a loud screeching sound when the brake pedal was depressed. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the brake pedal was very loose, and the brake pedal was going to the floorboard while depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.
Vehicle will apply breaks abruptly on its own whenever it thinks a vehicle is too close. Was in traffic and it kept slamming on the breaks as I would try and move forward. Will slam on the breaks whenever I attempt to just slow down during the course of driving. Was on the highway and anytime I pressed the breaks to slow down, automatic breaks would slam down breaks on its own. Drove vehicle right to dealership as the was a major safety issue for me especially with my baby in the car.
The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v334000 (air bags); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, there was a delay in stopping the vehicle. The contact applied more than normal pressure on the brake pedal and allowed more time to stop the vehicle. The dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 72,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
I put the car in park and the push button start would not let me turn off my car. I sat in the parking lot almost 30 min, putting my car in park, then drive, then park for my car to recognize its actually in park to turn off. I started getting this error on the start and stop at lights. . . It never turned off during the start and stop but fearing my life or my families life. . . . I took it to my local GMC dealership and the manager from the service department said this is a common issue with this model, he has repaired hundreds of them. His words. This is a safety issue. . . . I am shocked this has not been recalled. The lack of urgency to get this fixed is very concerning. It costs my $708. 92 to fix this issue. I 100% think I am owed this money due to something that should 100% be recalled. I found an open class action lawsuit that was confirmed by the dealership to be the exact same issue I had. 4-11-22 wife and I drove from our house to the corner intersection. She put the breaks on and the pedal went to the floor and the car drifted into the intersection, across the street to a parkin lot and then we costed back to our house and had it towed to the local GMC dealership. Asked for meeting with district service manager as I had paid to have vehicle fixed for my use. 5-3 and 4-22 customer service in mi agreed that it was a safety issue but out of warranty for brakes. Ok for brakes to go due to wear. 5-16-22 gave district service manager (pie 0458 dated 3-22-18) which reads: "brake pedal goes to floor with no external sign of a leak" gm knew. District manager helped financially. If we had been in a car crash and died it would have been labeled we ran a stop sigh not that gm willingly put a possible death trap into the publics hands. Sending this because others may have been misdiagnosed concerning a crash. A pie was issued but no bulletin was issued.
The abs system indicated a problem. When I took it into the dealership, they told me the abs was bad and needed to be replaced.
I don’t know what is going on with it. I have had it in and out of the shop. My car will randomly throw the parking break on and completely lock my car up. There is no reason why it should be on. The dealership thought it could be the systems needing a update but that didn’t fix it. It’s a real big safety issue and needs to be looked into. It just did it to me crossing over rail road tracks and I couldn’t go anywhere until it decided to unlock.
My car parking brakes will automatically come on while I am driving/ at a light or waiting to turn. I always push the brake pedal all the way down to decompress it and it is still hard to get going. This has put me in very dangerous situations causing my SUV to lose power and often times if I am in the middle of a turn it locks up and make it hard to turn. I have took my car to the dealership twice and they have looked at my car and seems to not found a problem.
This occurred while pulling into a parking space in the afternoon on March 12, 2021 at approximately 2:30pm. . . . Upon depressing the brake pedal the pedal went all the way down and the car lurched crashing into a light pole. Fortunately the light pole prevented me from hitting another car in the parking lot. My airbag deployed slamming into my chest and I managed to put the vehicle in park. There was extensive damage to my GMC Acadia and aaa and my insurance were called and the car was towed to a collision shop as instructed by my insurance. I am presently awaiting calls from my insurance and the adjuster. This is Saturday and nothing has happened yet. I'm very disappointed in the manner that the vehicle performed and I'm still having chest pains where the airbag hit me.
With vehicle parked I get a message of shift in park and vehicle doesn't fully turn off. It is known as an issue for gm vehicles - bulletin issued.
Although in park, the dash alerts the following message : shift to park this alert does not allow the vehicle to be shut off fully as the radio still plays, lights remain in and the dash remains lit. Have tried to restart and shift into different gears then return to park as well as engage the emergency break. Nothing works to fix this.
The contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the vehicle was stopped at a certain railroad track crossing when the railroad crossing stop signal was activated. Once the train had passed, the vehicle automatically applied the brakes intermittently while attempting to drive across the train tracks. The failure had occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to opeequon motors located at 838 e. Moler Ave, martinsburg, wv 25404 however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 29,000.
When I pull in somewhere and shift my car into park and then go to press the button to turn it off I get an action required message on the cluster to shift to park even though it is in park already and it shows on the cluster that it is in park. I took the car into the dealership to repair the recall and have it serviced while it was there and informed them of the issue and to get them to check it out. They said they were not sure what it was but it kept throwing a low voltage code. But when the battery was checked it was fine. They found a bolt loose or missing on a battery cable at the junction box and replaced it and said that they thought that was the problem. But the problem returned a day later when I was on a trip to nashville. While in nashville I again went to the auto parts store for my daughter and pulled into park and got the same shift to park message when I was already in park. The cluster on the dash showed that I was in park. I got out to go ahead and run into the store and when I came out my car had rolled backwards across the parking lot to the curb. Luckily it did not hit anything but the curb and stopped. This problem is so dangerous and concerning to me. It is going back into the dealership to get checked again . I did find a youtube video explaining what the problem was in the shifter and why it was not recognizing that the car was in park. Look in the search bar for GMC Acadia shift to park problems. I feel this needs to be a recall so no one else s car ends up hurting someone. I have no video of this happening because the cameras at the auto parts store were not operational and no one was around when it happened to see it but me.
On Saturday, April 11, 2020 the ebcm, electronic brake control module, set off a parking brake dashboard light caution. The parking brakes no longer engaged. Believing it was a certified warranty issue, I had it repaired, april14, 2020, at burdick chevy GMC Buick. Turns out it is considered a 'wearable part' and not covered. Two days later, April 16, 2020, I discovered the ebcm module recall on similar vehicles, attached ap article. Since April 16 until April 23, I attempted working with GMC, and the dealer, obtaining reimbursement to no avail. Therefore after reading the the article, the dealership, and four different GMC representatives, I request an investigation whether this ebcm module issue is the same as the article. Thank you.
I attempt to place my Acadia into park and power down my vehicle only to get a "shift to park" error message. I am unable to power down my vehicle and not fully park my vehicle even though I have parked it. This occurs daily and has occured 15-20 times in 1 attempt to park. I have to attempt to turn car back "on" and then put car into drive or reverse driving about a foot or so than attempt to repark my vehicle. Only to have to repeat this step over and over til it finally disappears. GMC customer service associate claims they are unaware of the issue. Of course this issue only occurred after my vehicle warranty expired.
With my vehicle stationary and shifter in the park position, I turn my car off and the vehicle turns off but the instrument cluster says "action required - shift to park". This message also does not allow the day time running lights to turn off and if the lights don't turn off the battery drains if parked for long stretches. I have to turn the car on/off several times before it engages and the message disappears.
The break lights would stay on after parking the car resulting in a dead battery in one occasion. The dealer has replaced break parts two times and even kept the car for one week for safety reasons. The problem is back and scheduled for service on 10/14/19.
"shift to park" issue as described by others. Gm dealer says it needs to replace a $20. 00 harness + labor of over $200. 00. "service parking brake" issue that randomly presented itself one day. I was unable to use the parking brake. Gm dealer had to "upgrade" my ebcm for a whopping $200. 00. How does gm think the consumer should have to pay for this. They have a monopoly because they are the only ones that can fix this!.
We have had numerous issues with the cars brakes automatically locking up when something triggers the collision safety break. Specifically when crossing rail road tracks after a train has past. As a result the car stops completely and automatically while on railroad tracks and won't allow you to move. You have to put the car in park, wait (on railraod tracks) and then attempt to move but it may activate it again so you have to do it again. Meanwhile you are on tracks, with cars behind you honking and screaming. This has happened numerous times, reported it to our dealer, service and GMC corporate where nothing was done. They said they would put in a "black box" like device but never did. It is a major safety concern for my family and one that GMC is not addressing adaquately.
I was driving my 2017 GMC Acadia on the highway with my son in the vehicle when it slammed on the brakes for no reason. When I first took it to the dealership they did not believe me. They researched the issue then informed me that gm was aware of the "phantom braking" problem and issued a bulletin to the dealers. They said the way to fix it was to reboot the computer. They would not give me a copy of the bulletin that showed the issue or the fix. Gm knew this was happening in their vehicles and they did not tell the car owners. It is a miracle that it did not cause and accident and that no one was hurt or killed. I do not feel safe driving this car but they will not let me out of my lease early.
Vehicle had multiple (more than 2) warning lights flashing on and off, while rpm and mph needle would fluctuate simultaneously. This would happen while in the driveway and also while in motion. Vehicle would not accelerate with accelerator pedal fully pressed, especially on an incline. While this was occurring I had to exit the highway and turn around in an adjacent subdivision. I could not get out of the way of a car in the neighborhood because I was trying to go forward on the street due to a slight incline. It would also jerk into gear when moving from reverse and drive. Had this happened in a traffic intersection, it would have been deadly. This car is unsafe. After 6 months of being fixed it has started happening again. The dealership has had the vehicle for a week this time without being able to fix it. The last time it was at the dealership for around 10 days.
Tl-the contact owns a 2017 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the vehicle when shifted to the park position will sometimes not turn off an will roll if the contact's foot comes off the brake. The vehicle will roll backward's until the contact presses the brake pedal. The vehicle took up to 24 attempts to try to turn it off. This issue happens intermittantly. The dealer bergstrom Buick GMC of green bay 3330, 301 n taylor st #101, green bay, WI 54304 (800) 721-1840 replaced the entire shifting assemply in 2018. The issue happened again recently and this time a wire harness in the shifting assembly was replaced. The dealer covered of part of the repair and the manufacturer covered the other part. The contact's warrenty has expired up to now. The most recent repair was completed on 01/29/20. The failure mileage was 20,000. Tf.
The vehicles brakes became defective and stopped working which caused an accident.
Engine feels like its going to stall when stopped at stop signs or red lights. The car lunges forward when in park on an incline.
This issue has happened 3 times now and is becoming a safety concern for my family and I and for others on the road. I purchased the car brand new in may 2017 and the issue occured for the first time on October 02, 2017. Second time was February 15, 2018 and the third time happened around early April 2018. While driving at a slow speed (entering a parking lot, in the middle of an intersection when I was about to make a left turn on a green light, and while driving in a parking lot after getting gas) the car made a grinding/clunking sound and was brought to a very abrupt stop. I tried to press the gas but the car would not move. I changed the gear from drive to park and then drive again and would still not move. I turned the car off and then back on and still nothing. I ended up figuring it out by pressing the parking break button 1-2 times and was then able to proceed to drive. It seems as though something may have triggered the parking brake but while I was in drive and while the vehicle was moving. I was almost rear ended when this happened in the intersection and also during the time I was unable to move in the intersection, my light had changed to yellow and then red and oncoming traffic was honking because they could not go on their green light due to me being stopped in the intersection. It was very scary and dangerous as it almost caused an accident 2 out of the 3 times it has happened. I told service dept at the dealership about it twice. They have "looked into it" one time but since they were not able to replicate the issue (obviously), there is nothing they can do. I am concerned about my families safety if this continues to happen.
Stopped at an intersection for a red light, upon green light, accelerator tapped to enter intersection and forward collision braking system applied brakes. Nothing was in front of vehicle at time of forward collision braking system application. Tapped accelerator again and vehicle hesitated but slowly accelerated to normal speeds. The vehicle behind at the time barely stopped which would have rear-ended my vehicle and caused a chain reaction. Continued on to work, carefully applying accelerator after each stop. Very scary for the vehicle to stop in the middle of a busy intersection with traffic behind and not immediately allowing driver to control acceleration.
