GMC Acadia owners have reported 6 problems related to headlight switch (under the exterior lighting category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of GMC Acadia based on all problems reported for the Acadia.
The issue started with my back hatch opening on its own at random times. Found out this was caused by water entering the lift switch. That problem lead to the battery eventually going bad and then the headlights being blown due the bad battery. Not sure how water got in the back hatch ruining the sensor but this is costing me about $1000 to fix.

I have had to replace the headlight bulb and the day light bulbs 4 times since January. Each time I replace one the other goes out and it does't last longer than a few weeks. This is very dangerous and stressful as the headlights went out on me as I was driving home two nights ago and the road that I take to get home is very dark. Also, I had to replace the multi function switch (windshield wiper switch due to it only working on high speed) in January. I've noticed multiple people with the same complaints. Please fix this problem as buying bulbs are becoming expensive as well as the time it takes to get them replaced can be lengthy.

The car headlights suddenly started going out (while driving) intermittently. To get them to turn back on, I have to toggle the headlight switch through all the settings in the hopes that they will come back on (which they occasionally do. ) this happens when the car is going fast, slow and not moving. It happens in any type of outside light. The sensor is not blocked or dirty and it happens when the headlights are not in automatic mode.

Driving the vehicle down the road - all of a sudden the low beam headlights cut off. We were able to switch to high beams and they work - but the low beam lights are both out. Sounds like the same issue noticed in a recent announcement with gm vehicles like the trailblazer - but the arcadia was not listed in the recall notice.

2013 GMC Acadia. Consumer writes in regards to headlight problems. The consumer stated when he switched the headlights from high beam to low beam, he was only able to see the low part of the road, and nothing beyond oncoming traffic. Low beam has a block wall it does not exten out to see beyond when you go in a dip in road you can not see whats out in front of you this is a safety if a person walking along the road you will never see them . This does need to be corrected. Ron walochik mechanic & autobody I own a 2013 GMC Acadia that's why I am reporting this.
