3 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2008 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

The transmission in my 2008 GMC Acadia is currently at the dealer with codes po752 and po700 which are the shift solenoid and the transmission control system. I was stuck in first gear driving the truck. The NHTSA reference #10052215 and TSB reference #sb-13120 explains the exact problem that occurred with my truck. GMC and the dealer are saying that I have to pay approx. $2500. 00 which is a 65% to 35% split with the dealership ( mine being the 65%). I shouldn't have to pay for a safety issue that has been clearly identified by the NHTSA. I am just another dissatified customer with gm and would like to add my experience and truck problem to your data base. This problem has been happening for the past month or so. Also, there is already a recall that gm has sent out on the wave plates located in the transmission. Which they have extended the warranty to 10 years or 120000 miles. The wave plates are beginning to wear causing premature debris in the transmission causing the solenoids to stick. Although the dealer is saying the wave plates are not worn.

4 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2008 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 12/16/2015

My 2008 GMC Acadia leaks when it rains, the floor boards fill with water & water comes through the interior lights causing them to shorten, blink. The power windows got stuck wouldn't go down almost smashed my kids hand. The worse part driving on interstate at 65-70 traffic slows to 40 and your vehicle doesn't go almost causing the worse accident ever. Seems this wave plate, shift solenoid is a manufacturer defect especially since I was only a few months after initial purchase and the truck was returned to dealer for same issue so that means the transmission they replaced the bad one with was so bad or reached its time out mileage. This should be a recall if it happened shortly after purchase (purchased used) then it happens again with the replacement transmission and all the threads in have read every owner is experiencing this, someone will have bad accident possibly death. Does death have to occur for us to get better resolve and make GMC take care of this. Over $5,000 was tough to christmas time.

5 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2008 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/12/2014

Check engine lite goes on and off appears to be timing chain. We have a 2008 GMC Acadia that has had over $4000. 00 in repairs since we purchased it in 2010. The most current is that the timing chain needs to be replaced at the cost of $3500. 00. I have read all 167 complaints from other customers posted on the consumer affairs website regarding the 2007-15 GMC Acadia. I compiled a list of all reported problems by year/make other customers reported on their Acadias. GMC has extended warrantee for the timing chain for 2007 and 2009, not 2008 though. All of our previous repairs have been reported by others also. 2 of my repairs had recalls after we had paid for the repair. Have been reimbursed by GMC for parts only for stabilizer kit, power steering pump assembly and rack n pinion but not the liftgate yet. I contacted GMC customer care requesting they look into including the 2008 but was told it isn't included and all they could do is give us a $2000. 000 voucher for a new or leased GMC. (case #8-1702070910) I tried to contact GMC at a higher level (gmprioritycare@gm. Com) sending them a request to review 2008 recalls for sway bar end links. Front and back rotors, sun roof leaking, front gas struts, purge valve, vent control solenoid and amplifier. Included a copy of my repair log and summary of complaints on consumer affairs for 2007-15 Acadias. They responded within 36 hours by having tiffany (the original contact at GMC) telling again all they can do is the $2000. 00 voucher. So I can only assume they did no research at all and I'm out of luck. I think GMC needs to be held responsible for their products and customers and not tell me they a man made product, they don't last forever. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, claudia ferraro 847-272-1840 work, 847-480-9739 home.

6 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2007 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 03/25/2014

2007 GMC Acadia with 108,000 miles. Check engine light appeared and the transmission went into safe mode and would not shift out of 2nd gear. Code generated was the "shift solenoid stuck open". Transmission shop stated that the transmission will totally fail soon and needed to be rebuild at a cost of $4500. The transmission guy said that I was lucky to get over 100,000 miles because they usually fail between 80-90,000 miles. He stated it was a horrible design for a transmission and inadequate parts were used inside. Not an uncommon problem for this vehicle. Researching all of the complaints, there should be a recall. Gm's attitude is that the warranty is up and it's your problem, so you must pay for our design flaws.

7 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2007 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 09/21/2013

The transmission on my Acadia has died. My wife went to pickup our son from a friend's house. The car drove fine on the way over. When they got back in the car, to leave, the car would not go into gear. She could move the shift lever into reverse but the car wouldn't go. The engine would just rev. She turned the car off to go ask for help. When she started it again, it would go into gear but the check engine light was on and it didn't sound right. When trying to drive the car, it would slip in and out of gear and had a whining sound. When reading the codes, I found the following: p0700 powertrain - transmission control system, p0752 shift solenoid "a" stuck on, & p0797 pressure control solenoid "c" stuck on. I haven't had it checked by a mechanic yet so I don't know the real problem. The tow truck is taking it to the shop tomorrow. I'll have to update once I get the diagnosis. 67k miles seems a little premature to be losing the transmission.

8 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2008 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 09/20/2013

Check engine light came on. Had onstar diagnose it and it came back as transmission codes. The transmission solenoid is clogged up, could be from contaminenents in the fluid or could be my clutch wave plate is coming apart like so many others have experienced. Out of warranty 5 months. Contacted GMC customer care, they were no help.

9 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2007 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 07/29/2013

I parked my car last night with no signs of transmission problems. This morning I get into to go to work and I notice that the vehicle will not shift out of first gear. Problem is diagnosed and found to be "transmission shift solenoid a". Deal stated that they are not aware of any such problems with this make and model. Aafter researching online I discover many many of the same exact issues with same make and model. Dealer is requiring $3000. 00 the repair.

10 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2007 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 07/26/2013

When pulling out from a stop, the vehicle shifts very hard from 1st to 2nd gear. Sometimes there is a loud crunching sound and occasionally it will shudder while driving. The vehicle hesitates all the time when trying to accelerate, and will not downshift when going up hills. Erratically changes gears even while traveling at the same rate of speed, like it is not sure what gear to be in. The check-engine light will come on and it will not change out of 1st gear, and it will stay this way until the vehicle it turned off and left alone for a few minutes. Then the light will go away after it is driven about 50 miles. I have had the shift solenoid replaced ($450 expense) which is that the code said was wrong, and this did not fix the problem or help anything.

11 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2007 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 01/17/2013

The contact owns a 2007 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the vehicle would hesitate to accelerate and operate sluggishly. The timing chain was replaced by the dealer however, the failure late recurred with the illumination of the check engine warning light. An engine flush was performed on the vehicle and the failure subsided for three weeks before recurring. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who advised that there was a seized solenoid in the transmission, which would require replacing. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 120,000 and the current mileage was 130,000.

12 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2008 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 08/25/2012

I purchased my 2008 GMC Acadia on 9/22/11. The following summer on August 25, 2012 the transmission went out while on vacation. It was towed to a dealership where they told me the wave plate and snap ring were broken. They replaced the clutch housing, all pistons, all fibers, replaced side cover and pistons and seals and springs. They replaced control valve body spacer plate and tom solenoid gasket screen. The vehicle had 73,730 miles on it. Since then I have also replaced the headlights twice, the battery once. My dash lights only work when they want to and my windshield sprayer stopped working. To top it off my transmission went out again just the other day!!!! it's November 10th 2014 with 119,000 miles and I'm already needing to have another transmission!?!? this vehicle is junk, and I still owe a ton of money. . . . . Something needs to be done about this!.

13 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2007 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 06/30/2011

When I purchased the vehicle there was a noticeable whine in the steering. I asked the salesman and he said that noise was typical with Acadia's and there was no issue with the car. When I took it in for an oil change at a different dealer right before we left on vacation, I was told the power steering pump was going out and needed to be replaced immediately. Did that even though we were delayed going on vacation and subsequently had it replaced two more times as well. Also have had leaks in the sunroof that continue to return, and have now messed up my power window controls to the point that I can not control any of the other windows from the drivers seat. Have had to replace the water pump, front struts, and now the solenoids are being replaced as well. When I purchased my car it had right at 54k miles on it and I had an extended warranty, that covered my power steering pump issues, but I have had to deal with the rest. I will have now put almost $3k into repairs that seem to be very typical with this car, based on what I have read on the internet.

14 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2008 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 12/08/2008

I was taking my daughter to florida for cheer leading competition; I was just outside of illinois when the check airbag light and message screen came on thankfully the light went off but came back on on our way back to chicago and kept coming on and off. Took it to dealer but they only said that the harness was tight they only wiggled it and light went off but came back a couple of days later. Then the power steering started making noise dealer said they didn't hear anything and didn't do anything and noise is getting louder. Then suspension stared it making noise. Took it to dealer and had tie rods replaced. Then the service airbag problem came back and this time didn't go away. Took it to the dealer and they said that the harness was to tight and they rerouted it so it wasn't tight anymore. Worked for a couple of days and its on again but I didn't take it back and now is past its warranty. Then head lamp went out. Had to pay dealer $180 (rip off) next the other head light went out. My nephew replaced it in less than 10 min. Now there is a recall for that head light problem. Then wipers arm came loose from motor I had my cousin fix it for me. Now I have had the check engine light on for a couple of weeks took it to autozone came back with the code to replace the canister purge solenoid now I have the transmission problem, it started to act funny shifting pretty hard some times and then a few days ago I was driving on the freeway coming home when I notice the rpms at about 45000 and it wouldn't change gears and the fuel gauge started going nuts I don't know why and had to drive it home on the same gear. Took it to autozone and came back with the same code for the solenoid plus p0700/p0716/p0717 for the transmission. Now my Acadia is just sitting on my driveway no money to fix it and driving my 15 year old truck hoping GMC does something about this nightmare.

15 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2007 GMC Acadia
