39 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 10/18/2018

My son was driving down hwy 281 and all of a sudden locks started going up and down like crazy, traction control, stability track, engine light all came on and car would not accelerate. Thank goodness my fianc was with him and they managed to get home safely. The next day all the same things above plus backup camera not working and when it park, the box around p kept flashing on and off. Now car won't accel hardly at all. This is very dangerous when your out on roads. There's needs to be a recall and GMC needs to take care of their customers before someone gets killed! I have seen several posts with the same issues so what is taking GMC so long to fix their problems on vechicles?.

41 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 08/28/2018

8/28/18 - vehicle unexpectedly had jerking/shaking at around 40mph with various service messages - stabilitrak, traction on, traction off, and all wheel drive. Traction skid light illuminated. Once above 40 mph, no more jerking. Speedometer was flying up and down intermittently as well. Once parked and shut off for an hour, I started vehicle and no issues. Drove it to repair shop and they were unable to replicate the issue. It definitely felt like the vehicle wanted to stall. Now I'm nervous to drive it because I'm sure it will happen again unexpectedly. This occurred on local streets with 45 mph speed limits.

42 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2008 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 08/14/2018

There is a recall on the convertrr post that causes the engine to seize up and pull to go into the engine. . When started nothing comes out of the exhaust pipes as they are clogged making it dangerous to operate. . The recall ignoramus this year, make and model for the same problem however after contacting GMC repeatedly they say that it doesn't include this exact VIN. . I have already had the engine replaced once due to this problem and ther dealer failed to diagnose it properly and acknowledge that it had the same problem as the recall in other vehicles ofthe same make and model. . . The vehicle sizes up at any rate of speed and the exhaust is clogged making the vehicle dangerous to operate.

45 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 12/25/2017

Takata recall traction contro,l service stabilitrak, engine speed reduced light turned on in my 2011 GMC Acadia. Wouldn't go no faster then 15mph on a 55 mph road and the engine got really loud and rough. Was going 40 when the lights all came on driving down the road. This is very dangerous to drive when it keeps doing this. I'm scared to drive it now. Specially when I have a baby in the vehical with me. I'm not sure what causes it to do this. Some people say it's a glitch in the main vehicle computer, read it's a glitch in several different vehicals. This is something that seriously needs to be recalled and diagnosed and fixed immediately!.

46 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/28/2017

I brought it in to service department a couple months ago because the accelerator would accelerate with out me pushing the gas even slamming on the brakes would get to 85 90 miles an hour. Finally got it off the road and off huge quantities of white smoke from the brakes being so hot. Assured me it was fixed and last night in highway traffic did it again. Almost got me killed. Service said there was no recall but this is very dangerous!.

48 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2008 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 10/16/2017

Transmission problem I am being told. . . No warning signs! stopped at a red light and went to accelerate and Acadia would not go faster than 25 mph! now I am being told I need a new transmission at 95000 miles GMC is a joke! will never own another one!.

49 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 10/02/2017

This issue has happened 3 times now and is becoming a safety concern for my family and I and for others on the road. I purchased the car brand new in may 2017 and the issue occured for the first time on October 02, 2017. Second time was February 15, 2018 and the third time happened around early April 2018. While driving at a slow speed (entering a parking lot, in the middle of an intersection when I was about to make a left turn on a green light, and while driving in a parking lot after getting gas) the car made a grinding/clunking sound and was brought to a very abrupt stop. I tried to press the gas but the car would not move. I changed the gear from drive to park and then drive again and would still not move. I turned the car off and then back on and still nothing. I ended up figuring it out by pressing the parking break button 1-2 times and was then able to proceed to drive. It seems as though something may have triggered the parking brake but while I was in drive and while the vehicle was moving. I was almost rear ended when this happened in the intersection and also during the time I was unable to move in the intersection, my light had changed to yellow and then red and oncoming traffic was honking because they could not go on their green light due to me being stopped in the intersection. It was very scary and dangerous as it almost caused an accident 2 out of the 3 times it has happened. I told service dept at the dealership about it twice. They have "looked into it" one time but since they were not able to replicate the issue (obviously), there is nothing they can do. I am concerned about my families safety if this continues to happen.

50 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2009 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 09/09/2017

Takata recall: I'm having idle/stalling issues with my 2009 GMC Acadia. Car cuts off while driving causing a safety hazard. First, I had my car inspected by local licensed mechanic who diagnosed a timing chain issue and cat converter issue. I followed by call a GMC dealer and informing them of my car problems. They scheduled my car for an inspection since they have an extended warranty for timing chains. They inspected my vehicle and informed me since the timing chain wasn't making noises they wouldn't diagnose it as a problem. They released my car without fixing it and my car still cuts off and idles while driving. They also told me about many other issues found during the diagnostic totaling over $8000 in repairs. I called and complained to GMC and they informed me that their are actually many other additional parts warranty's/coverages that they have and may be able to assist me with. I find this very concerning as the GMC dealership refused to properly diagnose and service my vehicle, along with the fact that GMC has secret additional wanrranties/coverages that the general public doesn't know about my car was in the GMC dealer shop for 4 days and they refused to assist me with a loaner vehicle while my car was being inspected. They released my vehicle and now I'm back to square one with the same issues and new list of supposedly found car issues estimating over $8,000.

51 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2008 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 08/07/2017

When travelling home on the highway after school shopping with my two children my vehicle suddenly reduced power, became uncontrollable and wouldn't allow me to get out of the way of the rapidly approaching vehicles behind me in time. I was able to get to the shoulder, after the reduced engine alert appeared. Stabiltrak was also disabled and one more feature I cannot remember. I had to shut my vehicle down and sit with two children in the car waiting for the car to somehow right itself. After 10 minutes I tried turning it on and the errors were gone and the car drove again, except rough. I took it to the local auto store and the diagnosed it with the code reader as tac. Throttle body. The person at the counter said they see this all the time with this vehicle. In fact, it should be a recall since it's so common and a clear flaw in the design. To the tune of $199 you can replace the part and have the same thing happen all over again at some other random, unsafe time! thank you gm for yet another unreliable family vehicle. I will have no choice, but to replace the part, as this is the car used for every day transportation in my household to school, work and back. Researching the internet horror stories can be found everywhere. It seems tragedy has to happen to make this $200 part a recall. Please redesign and replace. This mom cares for her kids.

52 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2008 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 08/06/2017

When I accelerate and get to 40 mph the car begins to shake randomly, intermittently. Then the service engine light came on, then the traction control shut off and the light to service traction control came on then the car drop the speed from 60 mph to 10-20 mph! when I tried to accelerate it did nothing ! the speed wouldn't increase at all then it started running fine and then a few miles down the road it did the same thing, dropped speed from 60 to 10-20 mph! I pulled over and shut the car off and when I restarted it the same lights were on and when I tried pulling away it would only go up to 10-20 mph for a few miles then it got up to 60 mph for a few miles just to drop again! I had my 11 month old grandson in the car that was dangerous! I was on townline road and manito blacktop that are very high traffic.

53 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 04/15/2017

While driving at varying speeds, vehicle's traction control powers off. As a result, the car looses all power, steering wheel locks, and I am unable to steer or break. Once the car powers down or is turned off, it will restart. Usually the engine light indicator will turn on. It has powered down at it's peak frequency three times within 10 miles. The issue is totally unpredictable and has happened over 8 times total, including on the highway traveling 65-70 miles per hour and on a neighborhood street going as slow as 20 miles per hour. It has been taken to the GMC dealership where it was purchased for repairs 4 times, beginning in April 2017. It is currently there now (the 4th time, was towed today 6/19/17;). It is unsafe to drive as there is no way of knowing when or where the car will loose power. There is very little time to do anything when the warning sound/message appears. Literally, you must pray that no one hits you and that you can coast to a safe part of the road (e. G. , shoulder). The dealer has been unable to diagnose the cause or repair the vehicle properly. I work in a city (atlanta, GA) where a car is necessary given the distance I drive from home to work everyday. I have lost valuable work hours and peace of mind with this car. I just want my family to be safe when driving. I have also called the corporate GMC office and opened a case.

54 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2013 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 02/15/2017

On multiple occasions now, my car has flashed "traction control off", "engine power is reduced", "service traction control", "service stabilitrak" while in motion at various speeds and has occurred most recently just prior to a curve that caused me to drive into the opposite lane because the engine shuts down causing no control in the steering when these lights come on. When the car is at a complete stop, it is then put into park and the key is turned to the off position and has had no consistency of if it will restart or not. If the traction control symbol is still on the display, it will not restart. It has been into the gm dealer it was purchased from with scheduled evaluation of the problem and they state there is not a problem with the vehicle and no codes stored in the system for them to evaluate this problem. The malfunction indicator lamp symbol will stay on or go off on its own at no specific rate. This is a huge safety concern that has caused my vehicle to stop unexpectedly while driving 55mph down a state route and limits steering ability when this failure occurs causing my vehicle to go into the oposite lane on the road. I did record the dash indicator lights after the vehice was at a complete stop partially on the road while still in drive for the dealership service department to view these on the display and I also have the copy of the service department paper that describes there were no repairs completed due to no failure during scheduled appointment on 2/9/17. The malfunction indicator lamp (check engine light) was still on the display when vehicle dropped off in the evening before the scheduled service. Upon pickup on 2/11/17 there were no indicator lights on the display. I am unable to put the mph or estimated miles in the alloted space on last incident on 2/15/17 so am adding here; I was driving about 35mph and there was about 98,170 miles.

55 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 02/08/2017

I was driving down the road with almost 1/2 a tank of gas, and I lost power suddenly, and had no control over my vehicle because the power steering and everything quit. Because I am fairly strong, I was actually able to turn off the road into a safe place, and not be stranded on a very busy two lane road. After having the car towed to paul's automotive garage, I was advised that the vehicle was out of gas.

56 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 01/13/2017

Throttle body replacement: check engine light comes on while driving the vehicle, then a message displaying "engine power reduced, service stabilitrak. " then vehicle immediately slows down and cannot travel above 30 miles per hour. Took it in to the local GMC dealer service department, who pulled the code indicating it was a throttle body issue. Charged us $120 to clean the throttle body, only to have the problem resurface hours later. Now waiting for replacement throttle body part to arrive, which they insist will solve the problem for roughly $350 parts and labor. Shop also informed us problem can be temporarily circumvented by turning off the vehicle, then turn it back on. Often the engine will no longer be in reduced power mode for anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes, then will throw the message and repeat the issue.

57 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 01/07/2017

The contact owns a 2011 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the vehicle had drastically reduced speed with no warning. Various warning lights flashed on the instrument panel, the service traction control light, the service stability traction control light and then the engine reduced speed warning indicator as the vehicle drastically reduced speed to less than 15 mph. The contact had to coast the vehicle over to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for further inspection and diagnosis. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,675.

58 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 12/31/2016

Service stabilitrak--traction control off! message, then car ran rough and lunged on acceleration. This happened at 5,000 miles, repaired at dealer. Again about 12,000 on a trip and reset itself. Now, at 20,000 miles sames message and is at the dealer being repaired. This is a safety hazard. Please investigate this.

59 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2008 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 11/10/2016

Water pump failed in the freeway prematurely, brake cylinder failed prematurely, steering, rack and pinion and power steering pump failed @116k, transmission failed @ 116. No means of transportation with 3 kids.

60 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 09/01/2016

Adaptive-cruise-control (acc)/forward collision braking(avoidance) system applied very strong brakes(twice) in certain scenario when using acc, increasing the chances of vehicle behind rear-ending. While acc is enabled, say your vehicle comes to fullstop as vehicle in front has come to a full stop(say at traffic signal) and acc applies full brakes. Traffic ahead starts moving again, but since vehicle won't move on its own driver is required to press accelerator to get it moving again or acc to resume its operation (this is by design). In such scenario if driver ends up pushing accelerator a bit harder(I. E. More than just tapping it), acc applies very strong brakes stopping vehicle right there. By this time vehicle behind you has started moving already and might rear-end due to abrupt stop. I guess acc thinks distance between you and vehicle ahead is very less and thinks its going to collide and hence applies strong brakes. But this is a bad design/programming since it expects driver to push acc. Pedal for acc to resume operations, but if driver does it bit more than what acc likes, there is a chance of accident. Gm should perform more tests with its acc around such scenarios and fine-tune their acc software.

61 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2007 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

Overdrive function faulty in transmission. During cold weather stability trac kicks in and will not regain power even though there is no bad road conditions (such as snow, ice, or rain) it seems to activate when the weather is cold. It barley moves inhibiting normal traffic flow which is very dangerous. Fixed moon roof leaks causing the electrical components to malfunction and rain water drips on passengers and thoroughly soaks the carpets leaving a mildew smell.

62 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 02/13/2016

Can started to smoke. Panel stated reduce engine. Couldn't go over 20mph. Car broke down with two kids in car.

63 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 02/09/2016

While driving this morning I had a series of messages appear : "traction control off" , then "service stabilitrak" and then very soon after "reduced engine power". The car would still run, but would not go above approximately 20mph and struggled to maintain speed. At one point had to pull over and turn engine off to almost "reset" car to be able to continue driving to destination. This is the third time that this has happened and have had to take to the shop. I have small children that are typically in the vehicle when this happens and am concerned for their safety if this issue cannot be resolved.

64 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 02/05/2016

The contact owns a 2014 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph, the vehicle accelerated independently without warning. In addition, the steering wheel and the brakes failed. The contact also stated that the heater motor fan increased in temperature and the radio volume increased. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician informed the contact that they could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000.

65 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2008 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 01/22/2016

While driving the vehicle at a normal speed (55) on a highway, a dinging sound comes on and the car goes into reduced power mode, losing speed. The stabilitrak and the traction control warning comes on. This makes it difficult to cross traffic at intersections as the car will barely accelerate. There is no warning that this is going to happen. Also, the cars behind you do not know why you are slowing down. Then when you turn the car off and restart it, the lights go off and the car drives fine. After three trips to the GMC dealer, the throttle body was determined to be the problem. GMC has issued special circumstances warranty on the 2007 & the 2009 but not the 2008. I do not feel that the warranty is sufficient. I do not understand why there is not a recall because after searching the forums, I have found that there are numerous complaints with this happening. I had my grandkids in the car with me and we could have been hurt when we had the sudden loss of power we experienced.

66 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2007 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 12/28/2015

Can't go over 25 mph seems to be stuck on one shift when in traffic.

67 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 10/10/2015

There is an air vent located next to accelerator with fins slanted downwards. Shoes such as tennis shoes hang up on the vent as you try to release the accelerator. Have to pull your foot out of the hang up which causes delays and distractions. Dealer says no known fix and that this is not identified as a problem by gm.

68 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 03/31/2015

The contact owns a 2014 GMC Acadia. While driving approximately 55 mph and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle's speed decreased after the service stabilitrak and service traction control warning indicators illuminated. The contact continued to drive the vehicle with the speed decreasing while driving up hills. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. But was not diagnosed or repaired; however, the mechanic stated that it appeared that the throttle body was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure recurred on one other occasion. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 14,000. Updated 09/01/2015.

69 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2011 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 03/02/2015

Tl-the contact owns a 2011 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the service engine soon, service traction control, engine reduce power warning lights illuminated and the vehicle speed decreased to 30 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 73,988. Ne.

70 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2007 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 03/02/2015

Upon entering the highway the 2007 Acadia would not shift either into or out of 3rd gear, I'm not sure. I could not tell what was happening and when I determined this was not going to correct itself I exited the highway. I've recieved a letter from gm stating that vehicles equiped with 6t70 and 6t75 6 speed automatic transmissions are experiencing cracked or fractured wave plates. This clearly is a faulty part as it is occurring on many versions of this vehicle and has been upgraded. I was lucky in that it was only me in the auto and not the entire family when this happened. Very dangerous.
