GMC C1500 owners have reported 3 problems related to brake hoses, lines/piping, and fittings (under the service brakes category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Steel hydraulic brake line under truck bed and running along driver side frame ruptured while driving. Result was loss of loss of pressurization/brake fluid, mushy brake pedal, and greatly decreased braking performance. Inspection reveals significant rust areas on all steel brake lines requiring complete replacement of all brake lines.

The contact owns a 1999 GMC suburban. The contact stated that the brakes were wearing prematurely. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who stated that the brake lines, hardware, brake cylinder and calipers needed to be repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 99,000 and the current mileage was 137,960. Also, the a/c was repaired several times, as it was blowing out hot air, the rear passenger door was inoperative, the starter was replaced, the radiator was leaking. Updated 07/30/14.

Rear brake fulid and emergency line is exposed and easily damaged by road debris and/or rubble. 2wd C1500 trucks have brake lines and cables drooping down beyond below rear shock absorbers and are easily snagged by road trash. Causing loss of fulid and braking ability.
