1 Tailgate Latch problem of the 2002 GMC C2500

Failure Date: 05/29/2007

While traveling with the tailgate down I ran over a speed bump and the tailgate came loose and was hanging by the safety cables. The right hinge point was bent and could not be straightened. Will replace both hinge points.

2 Tailgate Latch problem of the 2001 GMC C2500

Failure Date: 09/07/2003

Tailgate cable broke on my 2001 GMC 2500hd truck. One (1) only, but the other side was really rusty too. Dealer replaced them, luckily I had extended warranty. This is a dangerous "defect" and could injure someone badly. Truck tailgates are used extensively for load bearing.
