Takata recall airbag light is on . Truck will shut down when the truck is going down the road at 60 miles an hour less or more. When you start the truck it shuts off again. Or will start right up and wash it right back down. The safety belt like comes on or is the car locked I should say. Which is the little picture with the car with the lock on it. I have videotaped what comes across the dash and hasn't shown it to the dealership and they have not done anything because they can't find anything. Shuts off again. Or will start right up in the shit right back down. Safety belt like comes on or is the car lock I should say. Which is the little picture with the car with the lock on it. I have videotaped what comes across the dash and his showing it to the dealership and they have not done anything because they can't find anything. All of this is going on right now with my truck and has been since late fall of last year. I take it to my dealership twice with no results .

My airbag light came on, I took it to my local repair shop and they found a broken wire in the rear driverside door they spliced the wire and that worked for about a month and now it is coming back on again but it seems to only come on when it is damp or raining. I open the door and move the wire harness around it will go back off.

The contact owns a 2011 GMC Canyon. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated on and off at various times, moreso when the vehicle was started. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.
At about 20,000 miles the air bag light intermittently started coming on while driving but would be reset when the truck was restarted. At about 26,000 the airbag light came on this time permanently. I took the truck to the dealer and was told the air bag sensor needs to be replace. The part was ordered and now it has been a week later and the part still has not has been received.
I got a safety bulletin from GMC #14609 stating that there is a problem with my air bag light,. It can go on due to wires in the rear door breaking, the air bag can go off also. This is a safety issue with the air bags, I have the problem with the air bag light on. They said they would fix it or reimburse me if I paid in the past to have it fixed. Well they said I was off of warranty 1-15 . This is a safety issue, the dealer will not fix it for free. Why did they send me this bulletin with my VIN number attached? I have had nothing but problems with this GMC truck, you name it it has had a problem. Mostly electrical system failure. The air bag issue should be fixed by GMC free of charge which they state in the letter, there telling me I am a few months past the 10 year dead line. That is a disgrace this is a safety issue and should be covered by GMC if it is a design problem like all the other problems I am having. They are getting away with this and the air bag can go off while driving and cause an accident. I am holding them liable for this problem. What can I do about this they are not helping me with this safety issue. Thanks, tom.

Has been a problem for some time and was told to report to this site my passenger air bag light stays on, truck is a extended cab so checked the wiring in the doors and they were broke in passenger door so I repaired them thinking I found the problem and light still stays on and radio will not shut off when drivers side door is opened also dome light does not come on but will when the passenger side door is opened?????? dealership just wants $$$$$ to check the codes and more $$$$ to repair the problem that is occurring from their poor design from what I have read I am not the only one that has this problem. I'm afraid the air bag will not work on passenger side if an accident happens? also checked the wires under seat and they look fine?.

My airbag light came on unexpectedly and remained on. The cause was due to broken airbag (orange wiring in the extended cab drivers side rear door. Upon inspection, several wires (air bag (orange), a speaker wire (brown) were completely broken. This appears to be an extremely common problem with chevy colorados/GMC Canyons with extended cabs and should be looked into further. The airbag shouldn't be compromised because of a poor wiring design in the rear door.
After getting my truck washed the airbag light came on and would not go out. I took the vehicle to GMC today, may 8, 2012, and they found a wire under the carpet in the rear passenger area broken. This vehicle has never been in an accident and very seldom has passengers in the rear seat area.
