The brake lights and cruise control have suddenly stopped working - see nthsa bulletin 06v139000. As evidence of a systemic problem with GMC Canyon vehicles. Was not even aware brake lights were out until I came across the NHTSA bulletin. Additionally, the electronically activated 4 wheel drive has sporatically started trying to engage when the vehicle is first beginning to move from a dead stop. This started a month ago when I first noticed the cruise control would not work. Discovered the brake lights were not coming on last night 12/16/16. Checked bulbs and fuses and that is not the problem. Believe there is an underlying issue likely related to NHTSA bulletin 06v139000.

To whom it may concern,
I purchased my 2007 GMC Canyon in February 2007 with trailer harness as standard equipment at fresard GMC. I actually almost caused an accident due to all my brake lights not working. I called GMC to report this incident due to internet research on recall for brake light failure. The rep tried to deny recall but I explained to her about recall. She located closest dealer which was red holman GMC for recall on brake light failure but they are trying to charge me $300 for new trailer harness plus additional labor cost. The dealership is stating that water got into my trailer harness which caused all the lights to stop working. I have not used the trailer and learned it was incorrectly installed at the factory. Can you please assist me with this problem because this is my primary transportation?
sincerely,
julius a. Williams.

I noticed that the cruise control wasn't working. I checked the fuse. It was good. A week later, my wife was following my vehicle and noticed that I had no brake lights.
Brand new truck, have owned almost 1 year. Had to take truck in for slow acceleration problem as well as hard to crank. Could not pull out into traffic, had to wait until there was no one on the road because I would try to accelerate then it would stop/pause for a second then start to go again. Took my truck to the dealership which they found one of the heads in the engine needed to be replaced. (which at first they told me I had a slow misfire on piston #2 and they had to replace a spring and a coil) a month later I finally got my truck back. One week later I heard a knocking noise so I took my truck back to dealership and was told my oil was low so they topped it off (didn't work by the way). Still having hard time cranking periodically throughout the day. Took it back to the dealership, they kept my truck for 4 days and said they could not find anything wrong with it except a loose starter bolt that they tightened. Truck still cranking funny but was told there was nothing further they could do for me.
