1 Automatic Transmission Floor Shift problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2022

The contact owns a 2002 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was shaking. Upon inspection, the contact noticed that the rear sub-frame had fractured and detached. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the sub-frame needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

2 Automatic Transmission Floor Shift problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2006

The cable connecting the shift lever to the transmission pulled lose and locked the transmission in the pre-failure state. If this happens when someone is shifting into park, they may not realize that the transmission did not go into park and the vehicle could roll causing an accident. The plastic connector on the shift cable is located very close to the exhaust pipe and appears to lose high temp over time. (the ears pulled through).
