Brake Electric Antilock problems of the 2002 GMC Envoy

Six problems related to brake electric antilock have been reported for the 2002 GMC Envoy. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2006

: the contact stated the abs engaged at speeds of 30 mph and below. The stopping distance was increased as a result. There is a NHTSA recall, # 05v379000, regarding the abs system. The vehicle has the same problems as the recall; however it is not included in the recall due to the VIN. The vehicle was taken to a local dealership for inspection. The dealer can not duplicate the problem and no repairs were made. Updated 03/03/06.

2 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2005

When vehicle is stopping, it feels as though the brakes are releasing some sort of air. We then have to lift off of the brake in order to fully stop. This has been a problem when trying to make sudden stops.

3 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2004

While applying the brakes pedal went to the floor. Consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection. Mechanic informed consumer that the problem could not be duplicated.

4 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2004

2002 GMC Envoy xl - the consumer is having the same problem as the larger GMC vehicles that were recalled regarding the anti- lock braking system. While driving at high speed the vehicle starting slowing down and locked up. The consumer was able to drive to the dealer. The anti- lock brakes were repaired on the truck at a cost of $1400. The consumer had the repair done about a year ago. There was no recall on the Envoy for the abs.

5 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2004

Several months ago while driving at any speed and when depressing the brakes consumer felt pulsation in the brake pedal. Currently, when the brakes are depressed the pulsation is very severe. Dealer has made an appointment to examine the vehicle. Pulsation occurred fifty times in the last few months.

6 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2003

The contact states the abs brakes are not activating properly. The brakes will not hold. The vehicle was taken to the dealership multiple times. They have been unable to diagnose the cause of the problem.
