Eight problems related to power window have been reported for the 2003 GMC Envoy. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 2003 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that the driver's side window, could not be opened. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that they needed to replace the master window switch. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 87,404 and the current mileage was 88,536.
Driver's door panel no longer works, and smells like an electric fire. Check/replaced fuse = ok. All other doors works without a problem, and remote opens other three doors. Driver side door is faulty, and car smells of electrical fire. I removed the fuse, to be safe for right now.
I own a 2003 GMC Envoy and 3 of the 4 power window motors have had to be replaced. This is a very expensive replacement at the dealership. One was replaced while under warranty but the other 2 happened after the warranty expired. Each window cost was $580. 00 for the motor and labor. I think that this part is defective and should be investigated.
(1) events leading up to the failure, - (a) regulator in driver side middle seat door window regulator failed prior to 36000 and - (b) passenger side middle seat door window regulator failed at 43000 miles (2) a- window failed to operate at no charge b- new regulator installed - $200 + charge (3) parts replaced for prior to warranty charge over $200 for second failure.
Gas tank back spits when filling at station. . . Goes all over ground rear access window pops open when driving passenger window mechanism broken and glass pieces formed in door. Mechanism failed to raise and lower the window. . . Causing a grinding sound. Replacement was costly and unecessary for me the car owner. Should work for years without failure.
Both rear windows dropped open without reason or cause during highway operation. First window was repaired under warranty, second failure occurred outside of warranty.
I have a 2003 GMC Envoy. While driving, my daughter attempted to put down the window in the back seat but found it was "jammed". . . It would not go up or down. I took it to the dealer who stated the regulator had to be replaced. In researching the NHTSA site, it appears that other consumers have had the same problems.
Faulty driver side seat belt that will not release to fasten. I have taken the car in and the repair person said that there was nothing wrong, and that it just was catching on something. Also, the passenger side door behind the drivers seat was very hard to open the repair person at the same dealership broke the handle trying to open the door. The repair shop did fix the handle for free, however the door remains still very hard to open and I would not use this particular door. After a while the door would not close and the door latch had to be replaced at my expense. The back window would not go all the way up and the actuator had to be replaced also. I am not sure what month the first incidence took place, but everything seemed to happen quickly afterwards.
