The back window on my GMC Envoy 2004 exploded when my son was closing it. Thank goodness the glass pieces hit and cut his forehead and hand and not his eyes!.
I heard am exhaust leak and was informed by the dealer that a cracked manifold was the cause. Cost to repair is estimated at $1100. 00.
2004 Envoy xuv, impeccably maintained, had * response to accelerator as I made a left turn at a light across oncoming traffic. Service engine soon and reduced engine power lights illuminated on dash. Was fortunate not to have an accident. Pulled to side of road. Turned off engine. Restarted, and it ran okay but the service engine soon light reappeared. Drove another 35 miles with light on. The next morning it had re-set and the light is gone from the dash. How in the world does gm expect us to be able to replicate such incidents for a tech to fix? such failures will eventually kill someone.
Speedometer works sporatically. Even when the truck is stopped its reading that I'm doing 50 miles per hour. 2004 GMC Envoy.
The temp gauge does not read correctly when the engine is running in the correct temp range. The temp needle is either in the overheating position (red area) or totally past the max temp on the gauge, almost spinning like a compass. Because of this false reading I pulled my vehicle over on the shoulder of the interstate, thinking the engine needed to cool down. This was during rush hour traffic, and could have caused an accident on the highway. A search on the internet shows others with the same problem. GMC refuses to replace or fix the guage if vehicle mileage is over 70,000. Guages , oil, water temp, etc, are in vehicles to assist the driver with their driving and for safety reasons and should last a lot more than 6 years. Pulling over on a highway should only be done for an emergency, not because of a false reading, and may in the future, if it has not already cause an accident.
The rear window on my 2004 GMC Envoy xl sle has shattered on closing for the second time in three weeks. I have contacted the gm dealer in our area and he denies that there have been any other problems like this with this vehicle make. It is January and the cold could be a factor; however, searches on the internet have revealed that this has happened to others in warmer climates as well.
We have had numerous electrical problems with the Envoy, but I am writing about the instrument cluster panel. The failure of the panel caused the speedometer to fail. The speedometer registers over 120 mph regardless of the speed of the vehicle, or whether the vehicle is turned off or on. The mechanic who investigated the issue stated that there were numerous diagnostic errors that had to be corrected before he could successfully diagnose the bad instrument cluster. This is a known issue with the Envoy, GMC will not accept responsibility and the failed instrument panel can result in accidents.
The instrument panel cluster on my 2004 GMC Envoy is defective. Tachometer shows incorrect readings, gas gauge does not work, lights flicker and dim, half of the radio lighting is out. I 've researched this and have found this complaint is quite common. It seems that eventually I can expect the whole instrument cluster to fail!.
2004 GMC Envoy instrument cluster ,speedometer sticks at 60 mph,gas guage does not work, warning lights come on and stay on until you stop and restart and then ,most of the time they go back to normal.
This vehicle seems to have an electircal drain or electrical ghost of some sorts. The battery has been replaced by the dealer 4 time with the previous owner. That was the dealers cure. Then when I purchased it I replaced the battery. Then it was replaced for the 6th time 18 months later. The rear window on the tail gate kept going down on it's own until the motor flew apart. The window behind the rear seat went down on it's own and does not work anymore. The retractable back roof will not engage due to the rear window. Driving down the road the ac will come on by itself also the radio, the seat heaters. Now while I'm driving at night the headlights will go out on their own, luckily the bright lights still work, but that's not helping the poor soul in front of me. Gm says that there is no recall on any of this but I'm almost terrified to drive this vehicle or let anyone else drive it at night or anytime for that matter. Not to mention any kind of electrical problems that I may of overlooked.
Dash gauges/ first the oil level gauge died, then the speedometer started acting up, it will say your going 200 mph, when your standing still. . . Then the speakers and the radio started acting up, work, don't work. . . Really concerned about speedometer, and if other gauges will follow suit.
I have speedometer problems with my 2004 SUV Envoy xuv and I am believe this to be more of a recall problem than just bad luck and my hear shift in the truck is going out "the electronic acutator," all of this is just unreal with these car and trucks having these type malfunction and the make does not want to honor the repairs. I have never in my many of cars along with family member had auto repair such as this. I can't wait to got back to a foreign and I will never buy another GMC again. GMC said thy would get the deal to help with half the repair, but the deal here changed names and management from millsaps to teeams auto. These cars cost way too much for things like this to go wrong. I want to voice my opinion about to an organization that will at least read about it. The consumer has to pay way to much for something they already paid for. My truck is rolling miles that I am not really driving and this is sad. I made the mistake of getting this truck used and that was a terrible mistake especially when the maker does not car enough about the consumer to make it right. This is probably some of the problems with the economy now and that the little man has to pay the cost because the money makers will not honor right with the consumers, you can't cheat people and/or be dishonest and think it will not come back to you. I have not had performance failure, but I am concern about my safety with such problems as gear shift electronic actuator failing.
I purchased a new 2004 Envoy xuv from rally GMC in palmdale, CA (purchased in January 2004). At about 74000 miles (2000 miles after extended warranty expired), the speedometer started registering 45mph, regardless of what speed I was actually going. In addition, it now jumps from speed to speed in 5mph increments. I discovered this while driving from la to dallas on the interstate at freeway speeds in early December 2006. I originally thought it was because it was cold outside, and a sensor had ice on it. But after it warmed up and I found myself going about 80-90mph, while the speedometer registered 45mph, I realized the speedo had failed. I pulled the icu fuse and the speedometer reset and started acting ok for the rest of the trip. It faulted again about a week later and has never worked right since. Rally Chevrolet/GMC in palmdale CA quoted me a price of $600. 00 plus to fix it, plus an indefinite time in the shop.
