Six problems related to door latch have been reported for the 2004 GMC Envoy. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 2004 GMC Envoy xl. The contact stated that the rear driver and passenger side door latches failed. Neither of the doors would open and when the contact was able to open the doors, they would not remain closed. The dealer advised the latches were chipping and the failure was the same as described in NHTSA campaign id number: 05v494000 (latches/locks/linkages: doors: latch). The vehicle had not yet been repaired. The failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 73,000.
1. I purchased a 2004 Envoy. The dealer I purchased it from had it under warranty. 2 weeks after I purchased, the interior lights were coming on and off, the automatic door locks started to lock by themselves simultaneously. Non stop. It scares my children, as well as I, because I don't know if it's going to spark a fire or what. Sometimes it does it more than others, for example, when it rains, but it only does it when I roll the driver's side window up. Even if its not down and I roll it up it does it. As well as if I hit a small pot hole and sometimes it just does it on its on. I've taken it to a GMC dealer 4 or more times and they can't find the problem any where. So, nothing has been done to fix this problem because no one can find a solution. I park my $18,000 vehicle next to the road in case it does spark a fire. Please inform me if anything is available or who I need to contact at GMC to find an answer.
: the contact stated while going around a curve at 35 mph the driver side rear door opened. The vehicle was pulled to the side of the road. Upon attempting to close the door, it would not stay closed. The vehicle was taken to the dealership. They replaced the driver side rear door latch, which remedied the problem.
Headlights, driving lights and all interior lighting dim and flicker approx every 30 seconds. Has been this way for over 10 days, dealer cannot diagnose problem until the "service engine soon" light comes on, which it hasn't. It is nearly impossible to drive at night with dim, flashing, headlights, and is confusing to other drivers. Also, a fan can be heard blowing off & on approx once every minute, and this is with the vehicle completely turned off and the key out of the ignition. This is constant, I'm concerned the battery will be dead and the car won't start, or that the lights will completely go out while I am driving at night. Rear passenger door locks suddenly stopped working with the remote and the door unlock switch on the driver's door. I have to climb over the front seat into the back to physically unlock the door to remove my children from the car.
I washed my Envoy at a car wash by hand I wanted to see if the sells man was right about you can wash the inside of the truck when I finished the back hatch would not close it took an hour till it dried to close. Then it rained and I had to open the back gate and it would't close I took it to the dealer right away and they replaced the electical parts because they said they hung down to low and got wet then when I picked up my Envoy the back window would go down with the key but would'nt go back up so I went in and asked about that he said that is one thing we did not order a part for so you will have to come back when we get that part in. Now after everything has been replaced I had problems again this time it was cold not raining iam taking it back on Thursday to see what has went wrong.
Consumer stated incoming air pressure and noise were hurting his and his family ears. The noises were unbearable. Also, the pressure of air coming into the vehicle caused the liner on the roof to flap up and down. This happened while driving 30 mph. Consumer was stopped on the freeway the other day by the police because he was traveling too slow. Consumer claimed that he had to travel slowly because of the air rushing inside, after vehicle was closed tightly, it was causing his wife ear pain. Consumer took vehicle to the dealer at least 3 times, but was told that this was a manufacturing defect. Consumer was given a courtesy ride in another GMC, Envoy, and it did the same thing.
