I purchased my Envoy from a used car lot with no warning lights and no apparent safety concerns about 2 yrs ago other then what appeared to be a replaced front bumper cover and the vehicle was repainted the same color white, since then the brakes have intermittently not disengaged on one side or the other I believe it's the front brakes and seems to be worse after a longer drives and after bleeding the system the pedal would be firm and next day spongy feeling and going down rather far. Air bags did not deploy apon impact. It is available for inspiration although I am attempting to repair it after my accident the brakes are still as they were. I have tried both on as well as performance pads and rotors booster check valve and fluid replacement with no change. I was coming back from my daughter's dentist appointment it is 20 minutes away the roads were very slick with snow and sleet, I got off the hwy and coming through town I braked to slow from 45 to 35mph before crossing the intersection when I let off the brake the left side stayed engaged enough to cause the vehicle to pull to the left and I couldn't steer straight because of the snow and was forced to hit 2 traffic light posts in the center median. Usually on dry roads I can tap the pedal and keep it straight until the brakes released. I first noticed it changing pads when I 1st purchased it that the front tires spin harder while jaked up and when it continued I figured it was alignment or steering components worn but even after parts replaced a 2 alignments nothing changed, after my last alignment the technician said the brakes need to be bled and I told him the issue he was unsure the cause. I did not have any air bags deploy in this accident and the sensors were clearly effected as the bumper caved in the center. The vehicle also has had uneven ride height due to independent sensors in the rear. The vehicle now has a service airbag and service brakes light. Other owners have similar issues with their Envoys.
All the gages have stopped working correctly. They do not report proper information to driver . The electrical wiring to the rear wiper, license plate lights and rear hatch stopped working. The most dangerous thing is the abs brake system dash lights and bell comes on every time the car is driven and the brake pedal goes to the floor when trying to stop.
Driving car brakes go get it fix paid 375 to get fix now no power steering fuel gauge dosen. T work what a mess need help.
Accelerating while entering a freeway, took foot off the gas and the vehicle continued to accelerate. Applied brake but vehicle continued to accelerate. Put vehicle in neutral to try and slow down and again applied brake. Vehicle began to spin to the right and we hit the guard rail, hitting the passenger rear bumper and the driver's side front bumper. Side air bags deployed. Car spun into the middle travel lane and began to spin around. Car was slowing down and was able to turn car off. Fortunately no other cars were involved. An off duty sheriff's deputy stopped and said he noticed smoke and thought the car was on fire but no fire occurred. When state police arrived they asked us to move the car to the break down lane. Was able to put car in reverse and backed car to breakdown lane. Tried to put car in drive but car wouldn't go forward.
When I went out to start my car it wouldn't start so I took the key and my dad my be I need a jump he said no if that was the case the car wouldn't even turn over. I went back out to try it again but still nothing sio I began to turn the key back and fourth and eventually it stared. A few minutes the cigarette outlet caught on fire so I unplugged my car charger.
The SUV has shut off on me three times in the last 2 1/2 yrs (the time I have owned it. ) each time I was just driving on the city streets going about 30 mph. All of a sudden the car just shut off and all lights, etc just turned off. I am concerned wondering if perhaps there is a problem with the 2005 Envoy ignition switch as well? no, it was not the battery or anything to do with the servicing of the SUV. I take care of the vechicle and I don't drive 200 miles a month. I guess I am lucky that each time I was not gong fast and the SUV just slowed down and came to a stop, on the side of the road. However the 2nd time, I had 2 little girls in the car with me and it concerned me a great deal. Each time the SUV started back up and I was able to resume driving after about 2 minutes. What if I had been going faster ? what if I had been on a highway etc. If there is an issue with the ignition, please lets fix it before someone dies. I will make sure everyone in my family know about the shut off problems I have had with the car. Just in case something happens while I am driving it.
2005 GMC Envoy brakes locked up which caused driver to spin off the roadway striking a guardrail. (ohio traffic crash report # 10-0146-90) updated 05/13/10.
2005 GMC Envoy. Coming to a stop, put foot on brake pedal, foot slipped off, car continued moving into passing car. This also happened July , 2009 but with more damage. Prior to these incidents, had several times when feet slipped. [2 different drivers] pedal is either wrong size, material, or placed in wrong place. Afraid to drive it now, it is parked in garage. Your form does not allow for "brake pedal" . I marked service brakes, but it wasn't the brakes.
Brakelight molding above rear liftgate/window flew off on highway for unknown cause in 2/08. 6/09 - rear liftgate/window shattered upon opening liftgate - brakelight molding off again.
