Brake Electric Antilock problems of the 2006 GMC Envoy

Four problems related to brake electric antilock have been reported for the 2006 GMC Envoy. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 11/08/2011

Cpsc#i11b0246a. 2006 GMC Envoy. Consumer stated that in trying to avoid a collision what happen was the failure of his abs system caused the brakes to lock up throwing the vehicle out of control. The consumer stated he swerved violently to the left, and he instinctively steered to the right, and the vehicle went to the left and then to the right again. The consumer was able to get the vehicle under control. He was surrounded by smoke that smelled like burning rubber. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer. However, they were unable to find a problem.

2 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2009

The contact owns a 2006 GMC Envoy. She experienced failures with the abs system. The fuel gage registered empty when the gas tank was full and also the seats and windows electrical switch. While driving at night on August 11,2009 all lights failed. She will take the vehicle to the dealer. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 41,590.

3 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2009

The contact owns a 2006 GMC Envoy denali xl. The stability track light came on and the antilock brakes engaged when the vehicle reduced speed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer previously and they reprogrammed the computer. The failure has recurred and the warning light illuminated again. The dealer does not know why it failed again. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 15,000.

4 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2007

- the contact owns a 2006 GMC Envoy denali. There was a vibration in the vehicle when the gas pedal was applied while traveling between 30 and 40 mph. The vehicle would also vibrate at any speed. It felt and sounded as if it needed to shift gears, as in a manual vehicle, but was in the wrong gear. It was involved in a crash in November 2006. Two dealers stated that there was a technical service bulletin that referenced the failure, but there was nothing they could do to correct it. When engaging the brake the vehicle would move forward and a noise could be heard. The noise frequently occurred after a quick stop. This failure had occurred during the same period of time. The dealer diagnosed the failure, and stated they have repaired the noise, but it continued to occur. The current mileage was 14,000, and the failure mileage was 13,118.
