Door problems of the 2006 GMC Envoy

Tl the contact owns a 2006 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that the motor in the driver's door shorted out and the window regulator and motor were burnt. As a result, the vehicle almost caught fire. Smoke appeared from the door panel, which the contact managed to put out. Coyle Chevrolet Buick GMC (1801 broadway st, clarksville, in 47129, (812) 218-1100) diagnosed that the vehicle needed a new power window switch, fuse, and harness. The repairs were completed by an independent mechanic. When the contact discovered that the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 13v248000 (electrical system, visibility), the manufacturer was called and advised that the vehicle be taken to the dealer for reimbursement. The dealer did not reimburse the contact and presented the repair paperwork to the manufacturer. The contact was informed that reimbursement was not an option since the vehicle was repaired outside of the dealer and manufacturer. The contact stated that he did not know of the recall because he was not sent a letter. The failure mileage was 148,000.

The contact stated that the frontal driver's side door switch was inoperable. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact took the vehicle to another independent mechanic for a second opinion where it was diagnosed that the module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 161,000.
