Tail Light Switch problems of the 2009 GMC Envoy

Tl- the contact owns a 2009 GMC Envoy. The contact stated while driving 35 mph suddenly both exterior front lights and rear tail lights failure. The contact was able to drive home with is fog lights engaged. The contact noted that after letting the engine cool down the failure would temporary disappeared . The vehicle was a certified mechanic and noted that the time for the failure, volt meter drops to 12 volts. The manufacturer was aware of the failure however mention no recall existed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 119,000. Az.
