Two problems related to gas recirculation valve (egr valve) have been reported for the 1996 GMC Jimmy. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The egr valve failed.
Metal chafing sound coming from engine, causing the vehicle to stall. Dealer has replaced injector /fuel pump/oxygen sensor, and purge valve, defect is still occurring.
