One problem related to engine noise has been reported for the 2000 GMC Jimmy. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Engine noise: this 2000 Jimmy with the 4. 3 vortec is quite noisy. When starting cold ,about 20 seconds later a lifter will start to rap, then will go away and then back. After coming off the highway, several lifters will get loud. Now, I have heard 4 1998-2000 4. 3 in blazers and Jimmys do this. Then dalerships say this is normal. . . Technicians say there is a valve train issue. This is not normal noise. . Ina ddition, when loading the vehicle, like going up a steep hill, one or two lifters sound like they are ready to let loose. . . . . Cause of problem?.
