The front and rear windshield wipers began to intermittently work. This was over a period of three months and later stopped working all together. Consumer did not take the vehicle to a dealer for any repairs because it was no longer under warranty. The transmission did not shift properly after acceleration for a period of about thirty seconds, and then it shifted into gear. The abs was delayed when applying brake pressure. The brakes locked, and then the vehicle slid. The brakes pads were replaced every three months, this has been ongoing for the last two years. The steering wheel pulled to the right continuously, an alignment was performed a year ago but it did not correct the problem. In January 2004 the vehicle was involved in an accident, it struck a parked car at a speed of about 30 mph and the air bags did not deploy. This was front impact. The consumer has numerous complaints about the vehicle. .

Air bag light came on and stays on. Dealer charged $68. 00 for evaluation and advised that an air bag derm module is required to correct the defect at an additional cost of $450. 00. The dealer indicates that the air bag probably would not deploy in a collision and even indicated that they could not rule out that the air bag might deploy while driving without a collision to trigger deployment. GMC refuses to correct this safety defect at no cost to the owner and has only offered a 50/50 split. I feel that GMC should be replacing this defective system at 100% their cost. Your web site says that if a safety-related defect exists in a motor vehicle, the manufacturer must fix it at no cost to the owner.
While driving behind a huge tanker truck consumer started to pass the truck and lost control. It was snowing, and vehicle went over an enbankment, and slammed into concrete hard enought to bend the frame. Upon impact, airbags did not deploy.
Drivers seat slid forward forcing my knee into the dash. I sustained a cut to my left eyelid, which may have been caused by hitting the stearing column. The air bags did not deploy though I hit the rear of another SUV, a blazer. Seat belt did not seem to hold me in place or restrain me.
Rear ended by truck which propelled vehicle into back of camper. Thus a rear end collision, immediately followed by a front end collision. Both front seat backs broke causing the driver and passenger to be violently slammed into the back seat area. The driver (only)air bag did not deploy. The abs system failed upon application of the brakes, just prior to being rear ended by the tractor trailer truck which weighed 77,000 pounds and was going approximately 75mph. The truck driver admitted to the police that he never sloed down or applied his brakes.
Was broadsided & spun around and front end hit cement truck. Driver's air bag did not deploy upon impact. Had some injuries & bruises. No emergency room treatment. Inadequate brakes contributed to the severity of the collision.
The steering wheel abruptly pulled to the right. When I tried to steer the vehicle back on the road, the steering did not respond well. The steering was out of control. This caused my vehicle to do a 180 and go off the road. The vehicle subsequently flipped 4 or 5 times. Also the airbags did not deploy even though there was front end damage.
Driver's side air-bag did not deploy when consumer was involved in a collision at the speed of 35 mph. Collision involved the front end of consumer's vehicle striking the passenger side of another car through no fault of the consumer. Other driver ran a red light. Damage was considerable to consumer's vehicle, and consumer can see no reason why the driver's side air bag should not have deployed in the incident. After review of the NHTSA's complaint data base, consumer notes 10 other complaints of this same failure. Consumer is extremely glad that she was wearing a seat belt. Had she not been wearing a seat belt, the collision was such that she most likely would have been thrown through the windshield since the air bag did not deploy.
