1 Other Fuel System problem of the 1997 GMC Jimmy

Failure Date: 09/08/2020

The vehicle has lost all power to go. She sounds like she is suffocating and not getting enough air. I have changed the fuel filter, the maf(that is the code that is being thrown from the check light) spark plugs. Also cylinder 5 is misfiring.

3 Other Fuel System problem of the 1999 GMC Jimmy

Failure Date: 12/15/2007

Living near a salt mine ohio uses salt like crazy I'm fortunate that I do all the work myself rotten brake lines fuel lines that's what happens in the snow belt rot my Jimmy is mechanically sound with 190000 miles drive it almost 200 miles a day to and from work unfortunately it will rot to pieces before it dies and I don't think I should have to accept this need to find other ways to get ride of ice on roads in ohio or different alloys to make lines with. A lot of mechanics in the south won't or don't know how to work on corroded parts or some even charge a higher rate.

4 Other Fuel System problem of the 1999 GMC Jimmy

Failure Date: 11/11/2001

I purchased a 1999 GMC Jimmy for my daughter. All through the warranty period, there have been problems that still have not been fixed. The brakes have never worked properly, parts inside the vehicle have fallen off, the antenna has fallen off,the electrical system (heating and cooling) has not worked properly, the outside mirrors and windows have not worked properly, the electrical system has buzzed when the radio is on, there has always been a banging noise underneath the vehicle. The left front hub assembly was replaced-didn't correct the probelm-had it replaced again 2 weeks ago-same condition still exists. They finally found the lower and upper ball joints on the passenger side were coming apart-replaced them-but noise (loud sometimes) is still there. Have been taking this vehicle in for repairs since I bought it-have been without the vehicle over 30 days in the warranty perioid. Now-after breaking down twice again in the last 2 months (a condition I've been trying to have them fix since 11/01) due to no power when I press on the gas-it's going in again. It is 2 hours one-way to the dealer (silviera, healdsburg, CA) for me. I believe they have been trying-but I think this vehicle is really now, and has always been a lemon. The vehicle has only 50,000 miles on it, and it is not dependable (never has been). After all these times in for service-taking a day off work every time to get it to them, I've had it. My daughter (college student) who I bought the vehicle for (I wanted her to have something reliable for college), now uses my car-so she won't get stuck all the time. I am ready to put the lemon law into effect with this vehicle.

5 Other Fuel System problem of the 1997 GMC Jimmy

Failure Date: 07/07/2001

My gas gauge is not working properly. I was informed today a sensor was needed at a cost of $536. 70 for one part. The total cost for installation will be $762. 00 + tax. I only have 46,815 miles on this vehicle. I feel this is an excessive amount for a part. With less than 50,000 miles on my Jimmy, this gas guage should not have failed so soon. Curious to know if other GMC products are having the same problem. I know of one other GMC vehicle with the same problem. I would like to get this repaired, but am unemployed at the present time and cannot afford almost a $1,000. Repair bill. Last year I put almost a $1,000 in tires and a tie rod had to be replaced along with break replacements. This vehicle has been driven mostly long distance highway miles with no stopping. I still have sounds in my steering and a loud cluncking sound at times. Please respond to inform me if other GMC's are having gas guage problems. Thank you.

6 Other Fuel System problem of the 1997 GMC Jimmy

Failure Date: 12/11/2000

This vehicle has been a nightmare. . . Unfortunately it was a spur of the moment purchase. Although used, with only 39,000 miles, I thought I would be ok since it had an extended warranty till 72,000. I have replaced both upper and lower ball joints, idler arm, alternator, belt tensioner, ignition switch, 4wd sensors, gas gauge sensor, left rear axle shaft and both rear axle bearings. At least these were all covered under the warranty, but not the rental cars for all the time the truck spent in the shop. Now the vehicle has 90,000 miles and the dealership is telling me that the recall for the ball joints does not pertain to my truck (the VIN # is not included), the transmission dipstick is rusted (I've seen several complaints but no recall), my accelerator pedal sticks severely (also numerous complaints), and I've already replaced (out of pocket cost of $1700) a complete rear end. I owe more than this vehicle is worth. . . But will need to get rid of it soon because I do not feel safe driving my son around in it. Many of these problems could have caused a serious accident. . .
