Accelerator Pedal problems of the 1997 GMC Safari

Five problems related to accelerator pedal have been reported for the 1997 GMC Safari. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Accelerator Pedal problem

Failure Date: 03/01/1999

Vehicle experience problems with power steering pump leaking/gas pedal sticking/gas indicator always reading full tank of gas/engine light coming on and off, and transmission slipping which may cause a crash. Please provide further information.

2 Accelerator Pedal problem

Failure Date: 01/01/1999

When applying the gas pedal its stays down and will not return until it has been repeatedly reapplied. Dealer has repaired it.

3 Accelerator Pedal problem

Failure Date: 10/17/1998

The seat belt on the passenger's side will not pull out of the retractor. The dealer is aware of the problem. Part was ordered to correct seat belt problem. Consumer also experiencing a problem with sticking of the accelerator pedal. Please describe details.

4 Accelerator Pedal problem

Excessive acceleration from stand still. Due to hard press have to be applied on accelerator pedal.

5 Accelerator Pedal problem

While depressing gas pedal pedal would not travel to floor. Consumer applied force, and pedal returned to normal movement. Please provide further information.
