Manual Transmission problems of the 1996 GMC Sierra

Two problems related to manual transmission have been reported for the 1996 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Manual Transmission problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2000

The tranmission was replaced at 43429 miles, consumer believes there is a defect in workmanship or material which may have caused this failure at such low mileage.

2 Manual Transmission problem

Failure Date: 03/15/1996

Transmission does not slow vehicle down the way it should when decelerating while in gear; also, speeds to 30 mph in 3rd gear with gas pedal released.
