Six problems related to headlights have been reported for the 1999 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The vehicle headlights are to bright on normal setting, distracting view from on coming traffic. Dealer notified.
I am not sure if this is the correct forum for voicing these concerns but I hope and can be enlightened about these problems. I am not sure of the exact mileage or dates of any of these incidents without further study. The seatbelts on this truck will lock up intermittently while driving down the street with no braking. The right windshield wiper has broken free from the mechanism twice. The daytime lighting does not work though the lamps and fuses are in working condtion. The power steering pump sheared a shaft in two and was replaced under warranty. The engine clatters and was fixed once by the dealer however the fix has never lasted more than half of an oil change(1,500 miles. ) the headlight and rotary dimmer switches and surrounding trim on the dash get extreemely hot to the point of burning. I know I have missed something, it's hard to believe that so many things have gone wrong with this truck.
I have experienced excessive wearing of the front brakes, which has resulted in the rotors being replaced first, then the pads replaced 2 weeks later, and upon replacing the pads the new rotors required resurfacing. Since then after driving approx 5k miles, I was told that the new pads are appox 40% worn. I required the right front balljoint to be replaced when the rotors were done. When applying the brakes & hitting a bump in the road, the brake pedal goes down to the floor and has a complete lose of braking. It failed the annual inspection, due to a leaking donnut gasket. The tailgate squeaks & rattles, and appears out of alignment. The front driver's door creaks requiring repeated greasing. There appears to be excessive wearing in the front end and braking system, as well as excessive creaking & noise from the rear area of the truck, tailgate, and driver's door. I have been met with continued resistance and lack of answers from both the mfg and dealer. Any help or information would be appreciated.
While driving in snow speedometer started moving back and forth. Then consumer smelled rubber burning, and headlights popped out. Took to dealer and they said something overheated on the outside. But consumer said it was on the inside. Dealer put a module in, and made the problem worse. Consumer fears loosing lights on the road.
Headlights go out when tire spin or when anti-lock brakes are activated.
All headlights an d interior lighting will flicker when they are on, or they will become extremely bright and then become dim. Dealer claims this is normal characteristic of vehicle ,there is no solution.
