Front Air Bag Sensor Control problems of the 2000 GMC Sierra

Two problems related to front air bag sensor control have been reported for the 2000 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2007

The contact owns a 2000 GMC Sierra. While driving approximately 50 mph in dry conditions, the vehicle was involved in a crash. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact injured his right shoulder. The police arrived at the scene and filed a report. The vehicle was towed to the auto body shop for repairs. The contact called the manufacturer and they sent out an investigator to inspect the vehicle. The investigator could not determine why the air bags failed to deploy. The contact stated that the failure was identical to NHTSA campaign id number 02v178000 (air bags:frontal:sensor/control module). The current and failure mileages were 81,000. Updated 04/16/08.

2 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2005

Driver airbag did not work in a collision, driver injured, truck totalled. Some trucks with this make year and model did have a recall on the airbag system. We are the original owners of this vehicle and did not recieve a recall notice.
