Engine problems of the 2002 GMC Sierra

Three problems related to engine have been reported for the 2002 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Engine problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2004

While driving 50 mph, the consumer noticed smoke coming from underneath the hood and from the vents. The consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle and pulled over. The vehicle caught on fire. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection. The mechanic could not duplicate the problem. Please provide further details.

2 Engine problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2002

The vehicle displayed hesitation when idling and driving any speed.

3 Engine problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2002

The vehicle make a very loud tap/knock upon start up.
