Three problems related to air bag not deploy have been reported for the 2003 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Tl-the contact owns a 2003 GMC Sierra. The contact stated while pulling out of a stop sign,the vehicle collide with another vehicle head on. As a result, the contact crashed into another vehicle the front end was damaged completely and the air bags failed to deployed. Due to the failure of the air bags not deploying ,the contact sustained a broken neck and fractures in the head that required medical attention. These injuries lead to the contact death. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a independent mechanic where it was diagnosed the complete front end needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacture was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000. Ng.
Consumer was traveling 70 mph, and was unable able to maintain control of the vehicle. It crashed into ditch. Both frontal air bags did not deploy. No injuries reported. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. Consumer had after market product foose wheel. While driving passenger's side wheel sheared off. This caused the accident. Vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection.
The air bags did not deploy during a 35 mph frontal collision.
