Manual Transmission Shift Pattern Indicator problems of the 2005 GMC Sierra

The contact owns a 2005 GMC Sierra. The contact stated. The shift lever position indicator located in the instrument panel cluster would not illuminate. The contact was able to locate a recall for the failure (NHTSA campaign id number: 05v055000- power train: manual transmission: shift pattern indicator) however, the dealer advised that the contact's VIN was not included in the recall.
