general problems of the 2006 GMC Sierra

Six problems related to service brakes have been reported for the 2006 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2014

I have a 2006 GMC Sierra with the same abs issues that are recalled for older vehicles. Abs engages at low speeds when coming to a stop increasing stopping distances. I took it to dealer and they replaced the rear brakes. Truck has only 41000 miles on it, I wouldn't think the rear drum brakes would be worn out. I drove it home last night and to work today. Same problem still exists. Will recall be extended to include my vehicle someday?.

2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2011

Antilock braking system (abs) activates consistently as vehicle nears full stop. It's audible and you feel the pulsation in the brakes. The road conditions are normal and there is no reason for the abs to activate.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2011

2006 GMC Sierra. Consumer writes in regards to recall concerning hub bearing the consumer also stated, the brakes were not functioning properly. There were times, when it felt as though the brakes didn't grab.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2011

Abs motor engages on dry pavement at low speeds when coming to a stop, about 10 mph or less.

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2010

When stopping at low speeds, abs kicks in. Then brakes lock up and abs does not work.
