general problems of the 2006 GMC Sierra

Four problems related to steering have been reported for the 2006 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2015

The VIN number is coming up as a 2006 GMC savanna on your site safecar. Gov under recall lookup by VIN. It should be 2006 GMC Sierra denali 1500 truck. I would like it corrected if possible so I can see current recalls. Thank you.

2 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2014

Grinding noise and braking diminished along with smoking wheel. Front wheel bearing hub assembly is coming apart inside with only 36000 miles.

3 Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2009

Very difficult, if not impossible, to turn steering at idle. Duration of problem approx. 1 year. June 2009 dealer replaced part in steering. Dealer cold not find a problem in steering, but replaced a part. Problem continues; very difficult to turn at idle or low speed. I do not feel it is safe.

4 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2005

The contact stated the steering wheel locked when he applied the brake. After three attempts the dealer has been unable to repair the problem. Another dealer informed him this was the design of the vehicle. The manufacturer advised him to take it to the dealer. Updated 11/29/05.
