Four problems related to air bag not deploy have been reported for the 2010 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The truck was parked in my driveway when I got in and started the ignition. As soon as I did, the plastic dashboard cracked at the passenger side air bag. One week later, same situation, as I started the ignition, the dash cracked above the driver's side instrument panel. The cracks have continued to grow since initially appearing. I have a safety concern that the passenger air bag will not deploy as intended since the integrity of the dashboard has failed, and further concern that if the air bags do deploy, that the dash has become so brittle that there will be sharp chards of plastic in the passenger compartment as the dash is shattered into pieces from the impact of a crash.
The contact owns a 2010 GMC Sierra. The contact stated while driving 65 mph, the driver fell asleep and crashed into a ditch. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained fractured ribs and a cracked sternum. The driver sustained a bruise rib and sternum. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 43,000.
Dashboard is getting a large crack in it either due to stress or sun heating and cooling(expansion/contraction). This is a pleasure vehicle, no work, nothing ever put on the dashboard. Concern that airbag may not deploy properly.
During a crash at high speeds and frontal impact the air bags did not deploy. I was life flighted to the hospital and suffered life altering injuries. My 2 kids were also in the vehicle and sustained injuries which they are still being treated for.
