Side/window Air Bag problems of the 2011 GMC Sierra

Five problems related to side/window air bag have been reported for the 2011 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2017

The dash cracked near the passenger side airbag. The dealership said they know all about this and said it is safe to drive. Fearing plastic pieces flying in the event of an airbag deployment, I paid to have the dash replaced. Later, I drove into a pothole at a very low rate of speed. The second dash cracked in the same spot. The dealer says it is my fault and that there are no safety concerns. Gm is aware of this and is unwilling to pay for a new dash. They are jeopardizing the lives of my passengers so that they do not lose profits. This is a recurring problem that should be repaired by gm so that lives are not unnecessary lost.

2 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2016

Dash board crack at corner of passenger side air bag and 2 more cracks at drivers side instrument panel. Concern that the crack at air bag could be a safety concern if ever deployed.

3 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2015

Dashboard is cracking along seem of pass. Side airbag and above instrument cluster.

4 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2015

Cracked dashboard started at left corner of passenger side airbag then cracked above instrument panel afraid of flying debris and puncture of airbag. Constantly hear popping in the dash my p/u had approx 57000 mi at time of incident.

5 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2015

Large and noticeable crack by my passenger side airbag on my dashboard. Could see this becoming shrapnel in the event of the airbag deploying. Gm will not issue a recall, nor take any sort of responsibility for their error.
