Six problems related to carrier/rack have been reported for the 2013 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Cracked dashboard.
The dashboard is cracking over multiple places - including the instrument cluster and by the passenger airbag - I am concerned that this will potentially cause splintered pieces of plastic to be shot into the cabin during a crash - the part over the instrument cluster is already starting to splinter. A quick internet search has found multiple complaints about this issue - so it must be a manufacturer defect.
Dashboard is cracked on passenger side at left corner of airbag. I have seen this has been an ongoing problem with gm makes and models. Even though this truck has only 32,000 miles on it presently it is out of warranty. This should not happen at 32,000 miles for any reason.
I have a 2013 GMC Sierra denali. The dashboard by the passenger airbag plate began to crack about 7 months ago and the crack is growing quickly. There are thousands of general motors vehicles doing this and they will not recall it. It can cost around $1,000 to have it fixed. I am worried the crack will continue to grow and if the airbag ever deploys the dashboard will bust into many pieces and cause serious injuries. This is some bull crap that there are so many vehicles from 2007-2013 that are doing this and nothing is being done. Make them fix this.
I have a 2013 Sierra denali hd. I am very ocd with this vehicle as to I only drive it on week-ends, etc. Truck is stored in climate controlled garage. Just turned over 42k miles. I have a professional detailing service detail this truck. I picked up my truck today and was told that they found a crack in the dash located behind the instrument cluster. Only 6k miles out of warranty. How convenient for gm. I plan on talking to dealer that services my truck tomorrow and get their input.
