1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2021

The contact owns a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving at 55 mph, the vehicle began to shift hard, started shuddering and lost electrical power. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to push the vehicle to the side of the road with assistance. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. However, the vehicle was shifting hard and was shuddering while driving. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the main power cord had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to a second dealer, fresno Buick GMC (5515 n blackstone Ave, fresno, CA 93710), where it was diagnosed that the transmission torque converter and the engine mount needed to be replaced. Additionally, the dealer diagnosed that the coolant reservoir had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure through email. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2020

When I'm driving at a slow speed turning the truck looses all power and the steering wheel jerks out of my hand, stabilitrak is on the display and it says roll down driver window and roll back up! it also looses all power just driving down the road no matter the speed! I have also been stopped at a stoplight and it lost all power wouldn't come back on so I had to get out pop the hood and bang I. The battery box and cables and it started again! very scary going 75 mph and it shuts off leaving you no steering no brakes no lights no nothing! sometimes it says power steering failure sometimes and sometimes it says stabilitrack problem at something about towing! the brakes were also affected no brakes.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2019

On screen display for backup camera. When putting the vehicle in reverse, the on screen display is so bright that you can't see out the windows, the rearview mirrors or the surrounding area. This display does not dim with the rest of the lights. This causes a severe safety hazard when trying to backup the vehicle.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2019

GMC has refused to find a fix for the heater cord defect which is one of the main reason why I purchased the vehicle. I live in idaho. GMC should compensate owners until fixed.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2019

Display screen to bright when vehicle is in reverse. When putting vehicle in reverse the backup camera display is so bright you can not see your exterior mirrors or out any of the windows to see surrounding area. This is very unsafe condition because you are blinded while backing up. When took the truck to dealership I was told they can't duplicate this. And have had no other complaints???.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2019

I remote started the vehicle to allow it to warm up. The rear window defroster automatically turned on. After a few minutes, I got into the vehicle and noticed a burning smell as well as smoke coming out of the square control unit on the rear sliding window. Quickly, I shut off the vehicle in case there would be a fire. After doing some research, I noticed that there have been several similar complaints. Other people have reported that they noticed rear defroster wires glowing and melting trim while other have reported smoke and subsequent shattering of the rear window. This happened about one month ago (I do not have the exact date).

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2018

When reverse is activated at night, the backup camera comes on at full brightness and is not dimmable. The bright screen prevents view of the passenger side mirror and significantly reduces visibility in the driver side mirror while reversing. The screen cannot be deactivated and blinds the driver. This is an ongoing issue.
