3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/26/2020

Above 35mph I begin to get an extreme shake and vibration. It gets more and more pronounced as I drive. At 65mph is is nearly unbearable, and shakes and vibrates violently. It gives me headaches, and I can feel it in my arms as I drive. I first noticed it about 100 miles after buying the truck. It now happens daily.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2020

After being stopped like at a stoplight, then when it's time to accelerate, the truck has a hard jerk to it, and it doesn't want to down shift. Plus when riding down the road, the truck will lo just suddenly jerk so bad that it feels like someone ran into the back of the truck. This has been going on for a long time, and I have taken it to the dealership 4 times and they said they couldn't fix it. I even rode with them, and it did it. They still didn't want to fix it.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2018

The vehicle exhibits vibrations that can be rather extreme at times. It seems to be most noticeable in the 70-75 mph range but can sometimes be felt at other speeds. It feels like the vibration originates from the rear of the vehicle. Two dealerships have replaced multiple parts and have performed numerous alignments and road force balances but can not identify/remedy the problem. There are thousands of complaints on multiple online forums of this same issue for 2014-2015 gm 1500 series pickup truck. So far there has been no fix for them either. Gm treats it as an annoyance in the comfort of the ride, however if they can not identify the issue how do they know it is not a safety risk.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2018

While driving down a mountain road with a 5th wheel attached it appeared that the rear brakes on the drivers side were smoking, I pulled over to allow it to cool. We found a GMC dealership and proceeded there very slowly stopping a number of times to allow the brakes to cool down. 2 miles short of GMC, there was a loud pop and a tire had blown. We pulled over and while calling roadside assistance noticed fire under the truck. We put it out with a fire extinguisher before the fire department arrived. We were towed to the dealership. The brake caliper came apart, the rear axle broke (possibly melted from heat and fire?). Gm initially stated 4 days to repair, now they they are saying 3 weeks as they have to build a new axle. If we had not had the extinguisher the truck, RV and meadow would have all gone up in flames and who knows the disaster that could have occurred if this happened on the mountain road. This vehicle only has 17,000 miles, 11 months old and has had all routine maintenance performed at GMC dealers. I have more pictures but am unable to upload them.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2017

Vibration at highway speeds. Been to the dealer 6 times. Tires replaced originally, then tires balanced the second time, third time "acceptable vibration", fourth time "could not duplicate issue", fifth time "problem recognized, torque converter replaced", sixth time "acceptable vibration".

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/28/2016

I have a 2017 GMC Sierra denali 1500. I bought it new and it has very, very low mileage. At various speeds there is a vibration. Feels like I am driving over rumble strips. I have always noticed it but mostly thought it was just spots on the road that were causing it. I started to do a little research and learned that this is a know issue in Chevrolet and GMC trucks. Numerous stories of dealers ignoring it, complaints on many forums, whole website dedicated to it, a number of class action lawsuits, and reports to the NHTSA. Literally thousands of owners are involved. Gm has issued a preliminary investigation service bulletin (bulletin no. : pi1354i), but dealers want to charge for diagnosing and possibly repairing this manufacturer's defect.
