Five problems related to service brakes have been reported for the 2019 GMC Sierra. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
After using app to start the vehicle, I sat in the driver seat depressed the brake and pushed the start button. Immediately a warning popped up saying esc needed service, service trailer brake, speed limited to 62mph. Additional lights illuminated including brake, traction control, abs, and cel. Since the dash indicated that the speed was reduced I thought it would be safe to drive, however at the first turn I realized my brakes were nearly gone and I went through the intersection. The brakes appeared to have lost the boost and were extremely hard to depress making it difficult to stop the vehicle. I limped the truck home and notified the dealer. The next day I tried starting the truck and the brakes returned with no dash messages although the cel was still illuminated. There is a recall for a similar issue but it looks like my VIN is not apart of it.
I started my vehicle on January 7th 2020 at about 4:00pm to return home from work I received multiple warning lights and the check engine light went on. The warns read "break system failure 62 mph too speed", "service esc", "steering assist is reduced drive with care", "service trailer break system". The vehicle would not break properly I would estimate the breaking capacity at 30% from normal. I turned off the vehicle and restarted it about 5 minutes later, all warnings were gone but the check engine light was still luminated, the vehicles performance was reduced and breaking was at about 80% of the normal capacity. I have made an appointment with the dealer for imidiate service I slowly and carefully drove the vehicle home. The vehicle has approximately 1403 miles on it.
The first issue is a bluetooth issue. The phone volume goes silent when I get in my vehicle. If I connect to car play, it works. I have missed important calls due to this issue. This started in July of 2019 and its not fixed yet. Gm says it apple. Apple says its gm I do not care just fix it. Second see below images. You know the issue. This happened to me 3 times. It started 12-05-2019. Then again 12-26-19 . Serviced . 1-4-2020 again. 1-18 20 again and to shop until 1-23-2020. This took a lot of my time talking with my dealer. I understand I am one of many, but I didn't spend over $66,000 to buy, lease this vehicle to have to waste my time. This cost me time, money and honestly every time I start the truck I wonder if it will reappear. I received 2 calls fro representatives, gianna and michelle. I called back 3 times, left voicemail and have heard nothing. At this point, I am requesting for gm to end my lease and I give you this truck back .
Tl-the contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 dinali. The contact stated that while driving the power sterring gave out and when the contact tried to brake the vehicle took a long time to stop. The manufacturer called the contact back on 01/31/20 and stated there was another recall NHTSA recall number 20v-055000. The contact said the dealer did not mention that fact. The contact wanted to make sure that recall repair was done back at the dealer. The dealer will call back when they have the part available to do this lastest repair. The failure mileage was 4,500. On 5/28/19 I filled my 2019 GMC Sierra denali at the local gas station. As usual I turned the vehicle off. After fueling, I started the vehicle and began pulling out of gas station. Upon exiting I lost all braking power and the pedal went to the floor. I was going approx. 5 mph. I pulled over and had to step on the brake pedal until it was on the floor with extreme force. The check engine light also appeared on the dashboard. At approx. 4:41pm I recieved an onstar email with an antilock brake problem. Email suggested I take the vehicle for service within 7 days. I had GMC roadside tow the truck from my home to the nearest dealer(staten island Buick GMC) I leased the vehicle from coleman Buick GMC and when I contacted them I was told they couldn't help and the dealer the truck was towed to is still gm. I also contacted gm customer service. Received a case # and waiting to be contacted. As per coleman the vehicle has recalls for a trailer brake module and park assist. As per si Buick GMC they could not find any computer codes. The hydraulic test showed no issues. They claim to have upgraded the computer and the truck was safe to drive as of 5/30. They want to test drive again on 5/31 and I assume I'll be asked to pick up my truck. I find this to be unacceptable and a major safety issue. Thankfully I was going 5mph when I lost full braking. I was told if the issue happens again to bring the truck back in for diagnostics and repair as needed. This safety issue can potentially cause physical injury and or prove to be fatal. Depending on technology to determine braking capacity is absurd. 2019 GMC Sierra also have electrical problems duly noted by customers. Forums also mark the same braking problems have occurred with other owners in different states. A recall should be issued for the safety of drivers, passengers and pedestrians! lives are at risk and a recall is needed!.
