Brake Fluid Leak problems of the 2000 GMC Sierra 1500

Brake line running on top of frame from master cyl to abs has corroded to the point of failure. It has rusted through and leaks brake fluid. Brakes have failed. This vehicle has never left florida and is still held by original owner.

While driving my vehicle and towing a 4000+ pound boat, my brake petal went to the floor. When I got out of the vehicle, there was brake fluid leaking on the ground. I detached the boat and attempted to see if I could drive the vehicle to the repair facility. There was no braking power available so the vehicle was towed to a repair facility. Repairs were around $900 for a replacement of all the rusted brake lines.

I was on the ramp onto I-75 in detroit when I started to brake, the pedal went down to the floor. I had a little bit of braking power (approx. 10%) so I was able to stop after some distance inwhich I had to maneuver onto the shoulder to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of me and the barrier wall on the ramp. Luckily, I was going slow on the ramp with the traffic. There had been no indication prior to this incident there was a problem. After this incident I checked the vehicle and noticed that brake fluid was leaking on the front driver's side. I had heard later about GMC offering a reduced charge for the repair at dealerships but when I called the person on the phone he had no knowledge of this offer.

Pulling on the in front of my home , no brakes use the parking brake. Look under the sierra on the driver side leaking brake fluid. Corrosion on brake line,71,295 miles on the sierra.

Vehicle was parked in my driveway when I noticed brake fluid leaking under it. Upon further inspection, I saw that the brake line was corroded and ruptured. When I started the vehicle and backed it back and forth in the driveway I noticed that the brakes only worked in the front from this point. I replaced the ruptured brake line but I am worried that the remaining brake lines may rupture at any point.

Original owner, 2000 GMC sierra sle, truck has 178k miles. Total brake failure when stepping on pedal after start up to shift into drive. Noticed puddle of brake fluid under truck below drivers seat. Called a friend who found the brake line going from junction below drivers seat to front left wheel had failed.
