Carrier/rack problems of the 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 - part 1

A 3 inch long crack appeared above the instrument panel.

The dashboard is cracking by passenger airbag and I feel like this could be a safety concern for the passenger if I got into a crash.

Dash is cracked on drivers side and on the passenger side at corner of passenger side airbag.

Dash board is cracking around passenger airbag and airbag light is now on.

Dangerous cracked condition of dashboard surrounding airbag deployment area. Dashboard is so badly cracked and brittle that if the airbag were to go off, sharp and jagged pieces of plastic would become flying schrapnel. The velocity of an airbag explosion coupled with flying bits of hard sharp plastic could cause serious injury or even death. This vehicle has been well cared for and as such the dash cracking is a result of defective engineering and materials.

Dashboard cover has cracked in several places causing a $1300 repair bill for something gm knows is a problem and needs to fix.

Dash cracked above instrument panel and by passanger airbag. Dealer quoted $1600 repair bill. Gm wont issue a recall after I call and talked to customer service.

Hit deer,cracked dash on both driver and passenger side,airbags did not deploy.

Dash board is cracking above instrument panel on top about three to five inches from bottom of front windshield just appeared on 10/02/2017 . This crack was not there on 10/01/2017, vehicle was stationary was not driven at all yesterday.

The dashboard is all cracked, one being a really big and all along the passenger airbag, in the event the airbag deploys, those pieces can really cause pain. I have more photos but files to big to upload.

The top section of the dashboard has multiple cracks including areas directly behind the instrument cluster and around the passenger side airbags. The airbag section is the most troubling, as it would appear the broken sections could become airborne at a high rate of velocity in the event of an airbag deployment.

Dash plastic cracked by the upper left hand corner of the passenger air bag lid. Sharp edge could puncture a deploying air bag. Cracked appeared while driving.

The dash on my 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 is cracking like several other ppl have complained about gm needs to issue a special coverage to have this problem fixed.

Noticed on a trip from houston TX, that there was a crack on my dash right side above air bag.

Cracks in both sides of the dashboard. Others have complained about this as well and gm is getting sued for it now. Also, molding has been replaced on all four doors and is coming off again.

Noticed cracks in two places on the dash. The airbag cover is also popping up a little. Just noticed when getting in vehicle in the morning. Vehicle was parked.

Dash has begun to crack all over particularly around air bag. Crack just started to appear and are getting worse. This is a common problem in GMC.

Cracking dash in many areas exposing electrical wiring.

Got in my truck for work and discovered the dash was cracked!! sitting still overnight and the dash cracks!!! if a lemon law is for lemons, it should not matter if it's a safety issue or not and it should be covered by gm!!! it's time for gm to step up - who's going to make them?.

Cracked dash panel above passenger side airbag replaced on 1/14/14 on warranty. Now cracked again in the same place on 5/29/16.

The dashboard has major cracks around the airbag and the cluster areas. When you spend 45,000 or more on a vehicle you expect a quality product. I sold my BMW 750 li and purchased this GMC Sierra 1500 denali 2011. I have viewed multiple videos of people having the same concerns and/or issues after I purchased this vehicle this clearly a defective part that gm does not want to address. America is better than this. I know this does not matter but I will never purchase another american vehicle and have purchased a lot of vehicles domestic and foreign. Let's do the right thing!.

Dash cracked for around airbag and the center speaker for no known reason always garaged never parked in sun without sun shade I feel this may cause serious injury if airbag is deployed due to the cracked plastic around the airbag. . .

Cracks on both the corner of the passenger air bag and on the driver's side above the instrument cluster. One on driver's side is about 6 inches long.

My 2011 GMC sierra denali dashboard has cracked from airbag on passenger side to the speedometer.

The vehicle was stationary the dash cracked at the left hand top corner of the air bag, could this be a problem if the air bag deployed truck only has 40k miles.

A visible and concerning crack appearing in a corner of the passenger airbag dashboard. No personal -whether intentional or not- damage has been made to the dash. I have been the sole owner of this truck since it was bought new. It was found one morning as I was getting ready to leave. Is very noticeable.
