Frame falling apart the coating peeled off was going to clean it to recoat it but the metal is so far gone took it to a frame shop only to find out it's not drivable anymore gm have to do better with the coating for this trucks.
2011 GMC sierra frame failed pennsylvania state inspection due to driver side frame rust/hole. The section of the frame must be replaced due to rust(improper coating. . . The truck has only 69700 miles on the odometer.
Frame is rusted through.
Just noticed that the frame is rusting badly. It is available for inspection upon request. I see that the chevy silverado has the same problem and that a recall exists for it, but not for the GMC sierra, which is virtually the same truck. My safety or the safety of others can be put at risk if the frame were to fail. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. The vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. Unknown about any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem. No failure yet.
Dashboard has completely cracked and fallen apart. I fear safety if airbag were to deploy, that there would be plastic pieces that could directly damage passengers in the car. I am also very disappointed at the cost to repair the dash and the value that is lost from the truck because of the cracked dash issue.
I towed a u-haul trailer for four hours from winter springs, FL to tallahassee, FL 08/18/2022. On the way back to winter springs, FL on 08/21/2022, I began to hear the dings and a message to service the trailer brake system. I had the vehicle looked at to determine the problem. The fuse was determined to be good, the ground wire was secure and not damaged, and the relay was functioning. I have been told that it may be a defective wire harness which could lead to other safety issues while operating the vehicle. The constant dinging and the blocking of vital messaging by the warning is a distraction and safety issue. A recall should be issued to correct this safety defect.
Frame rusting away and cracking. On left side in front of evap canister. Noticed it on 8/14/22.
Body damage when I bought the truck.
The entire frame of truck has rusted through.
This is not a safety item, but one that causes undue financial hardship for the owner. It is widely know that the dash on certain 2007-2014 gm vehicles (generally trucks and SUV's) is susceptible to cracking. This causes devaluation of the vehicle if not fixed and is reported to cost between $2,000-2,500 to repair. It is my opinion that the cause of this is the use of substandard parts by gm and they should issue a recall for the repair of the dash.
Three of the vehicles airbags went off during last night while parked in driveway. Shattered windshield, ripped head liner, tore up interior courtesy light. Nothing had touched the vehicle when this happened.
Dash cracked and keeps cracking. I wiped it down to clean is and it cracked, and every time I wipe it down im afraid its going to crack more and in other places. Feels very brittle.
[xxx] frame rot crossmember for shock. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
When I turn the truck off the dim headlamps stay on with the keys out. The only way to make them go off is to pull the battery.
My truck keeps getting code p2138, when it happens I get reduce engine power alerts, check engine light and it stalls. It's been doing it for years now. It's very unsafe, last time it it did it I was on the freeway and had to pull to the side, but the car has no acceleration so vehicles are passing me by at 75- 80mph and I almost had a very bad accident.
The main body frame is completely rusting through from under the drivers side door back past the fuel tank. It is rusting through on the passenger side as well. The large amounts of rust have caused other issues throughout the entire body of the truck as well as rusting of other components. The frame of this truck will need to be replaced as there is no way to repair it or the vehicle becomes scrap. This vehicle is available for inspection. These issues were not visible when purchased from the dealer. This issue gradually became visible after the rust and undercoating wore away that had been applied previous to our purchase from a known dealership.
On November 29, 2018 at around 12:00pm, I was driving down the road on route 460 west toward grundy, virginia, the roads was clear, and the weather was clear, at a speed about 35mph and the ceiling airbags deployed causing the seatbelts to lock up, and shut the truck down to a stop in the middle of the road. The air bags made a loud noise, that a neighboring business heard them deploy. I was not injured only scared and startled by what had just happened. I restarted my truck and pulled off to the side of the road, and could not understand what had happened, and proceded to drive to my mother in law's work place. I then called my mom which was the original owner and she advised me to call ramey Chevrolet richlands va because the air bags should not have deployed. I had to reshedule an appointment because of bad weather and being able to get off work to take it to them for their schedule until January 18, 2019. My truck was owned by my mom and dad and has never been in a crash. We have currently around 58,000 miles on this truck and as you can tell very low milage. My wife mostly drives this truck. Both me and my wife have always practice safe driving and obeyed speed limit. The truck is currently at ramey Chevrolet richlands va and I talk to an inspector from Chevrolet by the name of tony at 1-866-446-6963 ext. 59115544 and he told me they would not fix my truck because the shocks was damaged. Now if the shocks are damaged then when the truck was shut down by the airbags may have damaged the shocks, but this truck was not in a crash, there was no reason for the airbags to deploy just driving at a speed of around 35mph. I am thankful I was not injured. I hope we can work to get this resloved.
Importing vehicle to the USA and requires us federal safety stanards compliance letter.
My dash light have a code that say check air bag service never been in accident in vehicle but. Light stays on I think iam apart of recall but noone at dealer have reach out to me iam owner of vehicle and my car is paided off.
All four of the door handles on my truck are breaking off; even though GMC has knowledge of the problem they refuse to replace the door handles, because my truck is out of warranty. It's a well known problem, you can even google a search for this matter and see other consumers that have the same problem. It's a safety problem, if someone, in need of help, is unconscious in a vehicle with the same broken door handle problem, how would they get help fast, if the door handles are broken.
There is no recall on my vehicle, yet the dealership sent me a notice saying there was a recall. This is highly misleading and caused me to believe something was unsafe about my truck, considering the document from the dealership says it's a safety issue.
My starter or fly wheel is causing my truck to not want to start, also there is a rattling noise while driving at about 1500 rpm, and something is knocking in the rear of my truck. Its a 2011 with less than 40,000 miles and has been taken well care of, no reason this should happen. Luckily still under warranty.
For the full term of ownership, while in the act of refueling, the gas fill would trigger and shut off gas 10 to 20 times during fill up, at every manufacturered pump, nozzle or gas station in creation, just an absolute joke.
