general problems of the 2012 GMC Sierra 1500

While driving to work one morning an error message flashed engine reduced power, stability control loss. Truck struggled to accelerate. Has happened several times since November 2015 on city streets or highways can happen at any time. I had to replace entire system from throttle body to the pedal assembly have found out that this is common problem that gm knows about along with the cracks in the dash around air bag on passenger side and the instrument cluster and refuses to recall and fix cracks in air bag housing could pose a safety hazard along with loss of engine power from faulty wiring.

Airbag recall.

There is a crack on the dashboard right beside the passenger airbag on the inboard side. As the driver, I am worried that a shard of plastic could explosively tear through my skull, killing me, in the event of airbag deployment. GMC needs to fix this potentially dangerous problem before someone gets killed!!!!.

Dash is cracked in multiple locations, vehicle taken to the dealer and dealer states that manufacturer is not liable and will not cover costs. Started with one crack near the passenger airbag and several cracks have appeared over the years.

Dashboard surrounding airbag and instrument cluster is cracking and essentially disintegrating. If my airbag deploys or I'm involved in a collision these sharp plastic fragments will become a safety hazard. This truck has 38k miles and is in otherwise pristine condition with zero scratches on the interior parts aside from these dash cracks. The plastic is protected every three months at least with aerospace 303 and protected from sunlight when not in use. This is not a maintenance issue, it's a structural defect. Thousands of these vehicles are affected.

Severe cracking dashboard.

Dashboard has cracked in multiple places. In a crash or airbag inflation, loose shards of dashboard plastic may become hazardous flying debris or they may puncture and/or cut the airbag preventing proper airbag inflation and decreasing the airbag's effectiveness.

Takata recall: a crack has appeared on the dash leading to the air bag on passenger side! my concern is that this may affect deployment of the air bag, and or cause pieces of dash to become shrapnel!.

This truck is four years old, has 30,000 miles, is garage kept (never parked in the sun) and the dash has cracked near the air bag area. I am concerned the deployment of the airbag could be affected by the cracked dash.

Interior upper dash cracked at 11,000. Always garaged. Known issue with '07-'13 gm trucks. Potential damage to passenger air bag upon inflation. Due to sharp corners on crack the airbag could be damaged or become inoperative due to a puncture upon inflation.

The dash is cracked, there are two cracks where the air-bag is, which could possibly interfere with the deployment of the air-bag. This problem is widespread and involves several models and several years. I contacted the dealership and also general motors and they refuse to do anything to fix it. Several people replaced their dashes at their expense only to have those crack also.

$17,000 worth of damage on my GMC all airbags went off minus the driver side steering wheel airbag. Was on cruise control at 75 miles per hour fell asleep at wheel ran into the barrier wires. Damage all over the truck 360�underneath the truck luckily nobody was injured except for my own body. I lost consciousness the onstar woke me up and I crawled out of the wreckage meeting the highway patrol. It's been just over four years I'm still feeling the effects of the injury.
