general problems of the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 - part 2

While fixing an exhaust leak on this vehicle, the grounding cable that attaches to the engine block appeared to be chafed, partially crushed, and exposing some copper. The grounding cable runs down the firewall of the passenger side of the vehicle, runs briefly along the frame rail, and passes underneath the exhaust manifold. There is a potential for the cable to not properly ground over time, causing unknown issues. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer or dealer as this vehicle is outside of bumper-to-bumper warranty. A support case was opened with gm, but as an individual, they will not allow me to report the issue with pictures. They require the dealer to be the reporter.

When you push on the break the vehicle’s power shuts down. Yes it is available for inspection upon request. When steering wheel is turned it dies. After this happens stabilizer light comes on and power steering assist comes on. No inspection has been done called dealership and they said the recall from 2014 had already been done. This is a very serious issue when driving in traffic and I do not want to be in or cause an accident.

I had made a appointment to get the recalls resolved at the dealership and I made appointment and everything and they call to confirm thru out the week and then when I showed up they said they couldn’t fix it cause it was a branded title and they didn’t even offer me any other way of fixing it .

While passing a vehicle I lost all electrical power which in turn caused the vehicle to lose power. This same thing has happened several times at low speeds. I have the vehicle scheduled for July 2 to get looked at. The engined revved extremly high and it seemed like the transmission went into neutral. It then restarted. I had to roll the driver's window down and got a stabili trak light that came on after the incident.

From time to time the vehicles power system will surge, blink, and generally act up. The priblem is intermittent. The check engine light will come in then go off, the engine has completely cut off several times while driving, the transmission acts up, radio will turn off, 120v outlet will turn off, occasionally the vehicle will fun for 5-15 seconds after being turned off and then sputter off. And 95% of the time the truck is absolutely fine.

Vehicle started having random electrical problems including dropping out of cruise when signaling a lane change, not starting due to antitheft system error, stabltrak error message, message to raise & lower drivers side window. Ultimately the engine, steering & brakes failed, fortunately at low speed, and we coasted to a stop after the truck ran over a curb. Our safety was at risk as we could have crashed into something. Others safety was at risk as we could have ended up in their vehicle path. The dealer replaced some ground wires, at great expense, and said that usually fixes it. Which tells me that this is a known problem. Can't believe that it isn't a safety recall!.

After about 5-10 minutes of driving there was a �burning plastic� smell and about 1-2 minutes after that a loud bang (almost like a gunshot) after pulling over, I looked around to find the left side of the back window was blown out. Long story short, I called the dealer to set up service and was told they performed the recall fix for this problem on my GMC. . . . . I don't think it was either done or the fix didn't solve it. I can provide pictures tomorrow. . . . . And I was driving down a city street and in motion - the street was not bumpy, in fact it was snow covered. I think this could have been a fire hazard judging by the horrific smell.

2014 GMC Sierra 1500 4wd ~75k miles. Sometimes when I roll up my windows or use my blinker and it shuts off cruise control (hwy). And sometimes when I hit my breaks my headlights will dim (hwy, city streets, parking lots). When I'm turning slowly (in parking lots) the steeling will occasionally lock up and once it lost power entirely. My battery was tested at bigo and said it was fine. I've seen this online a lot for this truck and similar years, but no one seems to have a resolution. With so many incidents I'm shocked they don't have a fix or any idea what is wrong.

The truck shuts off while driving which disables the power steering, engine and power braking. The electrical systems seems to reboot and turn back on after a second or two. This also happens occasionally while driving at slower speeds and turning the steering wheel or after hitting the turn signal. I have had the entire electrical system and engine shut off while doing 50mph on the high just because I turned my turn signal on. This happens every 4 weeks or so. You can tell it is about to happen when the headlights start deeming when tapping the brakes or using the turn signal. It usually happens when the truck is in motion. It has happened in all temperatures. After it happens the console states "stablitrak is disabled".

I was driving down the road and all of the sudden it was if my transmission disengaged and my car lost power. It then automatically came back on and the �service stabilitrak� lights came on. I nearly avoided an accident and was able to pull off onto the side of the road.

The vehicle was in motion and took a turn the dashboard chimed and showed a "service stabilitrak", and redcution in power steering, and hvac went off and came back on and I lost power steering. Everything flashed and flickered. Upon further assessment at my house stationary turning the wheel reactivated the problems and it was also noticed that the lights would flicker and go dim along with the dashboard lights. Looked up some recalls and saw some recalls on 2014 GMC sierra with loss in power steering, however my vehicle was not included in that. I have a brake recall that I will be servicing and hopefully that might solve this dangerous electrical problem.

Driving on highway and also at low speed, truck completely shuts down electrically. Steering fails, instrumentation fails, doors lock, complete power failure. This has occurred backing out of driveways, turning into intersections. Brought truck to dealer,they can't find anything, but g218 ground issue appears to be obvious yet, they refuse to fix unless issue is present.

In the last 2 months my truck has lost all electric power while making a slow right turn. Voltage drops and I lose power steering. Dealership put a new battery despite there being an active recall for this exact issue. However, my VIN number is not included in the recall. I was able to video it happening. It happens when the vehicle is in motion.

Was driving through a local parking lot, going only 3 miles an hour and started to turn left when all of a sudden the driver side wheel just snapped off throwing me into the steering wheel. My right arm got a scrape and right shoulder popped. The truck hit a metal pole and dented the driver side panel, missing the head light. So glad this didn't happen on the highway.

My vehicle turned completely off and it put my breaks to the floor at 26 mph. My steering locked also as if I turned it off. Prior to this happening 3 months my steering column has a popping feeling. Not noise. Feeling. When I took it to the shop, they read the code and it said something along the lines of communication error. Dealership couldn't find anything wrong, took apart steering column nothing was loose and popping stopped also had battery replaced 7 months prior and no bad connections. Received my truck back, was good until a week ago the popping feeling, is back.

Tl the contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and making a left turn, the vehicle loss power steering assist and became difficult to steer and stalled. The contact experienced the failure twice. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. Auburn valley GMC located at 3104 auburn way north, auburn, wa 98002 and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 17v414000 (steering) however, the failure recurred. The failure mileage was 95,500.

When I am slowing down to turn as I turn the steering wheel I loose power to my instrument panel and my a/c and radio turns off for a second and then comes back on.

Owned truck for one year, bought used at dealership. Within 6 months, the service stablilitrack message popped up while on highway and power steering diminished. Cruise control would turn off when using the blinkers to change lanes. Put a new battery in and things worked well until yesterday when on the highway and the service stabilitrack message came back again when I used my turn signal to change lanes while using the cruise control. The cruise control also turned itself off. Went to park and the truck shut down for one second and seemed to reboot. It drove fine after that but scared the crap out of me. Luckily no one was around. The headlights have also dimmed when pushing the brake pedal. I see there was a recall but I don't know if this truck had it fixed at that time or not. The website tells me there is only one open recall but for the brake system and this seems to be an electrical problem not brakes. I am contacting the dealership but I doubt they will have an answer and will want to charge me for something that appears, according to this site and others, to be a major issue for this vehicle model.

During normal driving in town and on highway, stabillitrak deactivates, power steering assist deactivates and the steering becomes very difficult, airbags deactivate, turn signals become inoperable, radio shuts off, air conditioning shuts off. This happens while at speed on the highway and at slow speeds. It is especially dangerous when making slow turns as the power steering gives out and the truck instantly becomes nearly uncontrollable (uncontrollable for my wife) in the middle of the turn. I have taken the truck to the dealership and they said nothing is wrong and the best they could do was perform a service bulletin. Issue was not corrected. I found that there was a new bulletin that had a fix for the g218 ground. I cut back the sound deadening from the ground, yet that did not fix the issue either. The truck has done this dozens of times and is incredibly unsafe to drive. How can losing steering, airbags, stability control, turn signals, etc. Not be a safety concern?.

The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for a diagnostic testing and was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000. Aw.

The steering system light will also come on and the locks on the doors will lock and unlock. And eventually the whole vehicle would shut off. The contact would have to stop and restart the vehicle. . The vehicle was taken in three times to the dealer supreme Chevrolet Cadillac of plaquemine 23085 la-1, plaquemine, la 70764 (225) 238-1668 for normal maintainance repairs and had to re fix the power steering from a past recall repair. The issue recurs each day but the contact has not had a chance to reset another appointment. The failure mileage was 81,445. Tf.

The contact stated that the vehicle was at stand still on the outside a drive way, when entering the vehicle he saw smoke exiting the center console and heard abnormal noise. The contact was able to exit the vehicle and extinguish the fire by throwing water to the center console. The contact stated the center and top console and front passenger seat was melted. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. No police or fire department report was filed. The vehicle was taken to local dealer autonation Buick GMC west sahara located at 6400 w sahara Ave, las vegas, nv 89146, (702) 545-6797, were made of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired as of yet. The manufacturer has been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 90,850. Dp.

Slowing down to park on a street and lost steering and lights flickering, I just had recall reprogrammed &serviced 60 days ago, driver assist service lights also on and parking. I nearly crashed twice so far I need my vehicle for transportation and would like help with this immediately ,for it is a pricey luxurious vehicle.

The engine shuts off and it looses all power randomly when turning , it is noow started to shut off in traffic when lightly tapping the brakes. .

Driving vehicle at a low speed into a parking lot, when suddenly and without warning, it completely shut off. No power whatsoever, unable to put on hazard lights. Disconnected battery neutral and hot for about 10-15 min. Reconnected and it started back up. There was a dashboard message to roll driving window up and down. This has happened in the past, but only when starting, never while in drive and in forward motion! in the past I had it diagnosed for the no crank no start and for $400 I updated the bcm. Typically, with no crank no start, I would disconnect battery neutral for 10 minutes, reconnect and start up slowly, turn ignition to on, wait 1 min then crank it to start. I have accepted the occasional no crank no start, but the idea that this happened in drive is unacceptable and incredibly dangerous!.

I've always liked your GMC trucks but mostly been a Ford owner so this December I bought a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 with 98,000 miles. . . Really love the truck but then start by having problems. . First my passenger window wouldn't roll down all the way . . Got that fixed. . Then my rear drivers door lock don't work. . And the big one my ac condenser has a leak ($1500 fix)which supposedly is a common problem with this vehicle. . Which I'm just so dissatisfied. . I would really appreciated to have these problems fix for free!!! for I am regretting going GMC.

All happened same day. Was 8 hours from home and pulling into parking spot and the brakes went to the floor 3 times. Has not occurred since. But when that happened the air started blowing warm and the service driver assist came on briefly. Still air is blowing warm and the service driver assist comes on. Have never had a check engine light come on. I am having it checked out this week.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mielage was 55,000.

My truck lost all electrical power when I was at a stop light,, I was in drive but was at a stop light , it happened a second time after I shut it off came back and turned the key and there was no power I waited for 5 minutes and al of sudden electrical turned on.

"takata recall" driving truck down interstate and it just cutoff no steering no breaks all power shuts off. I wait till truck is stooped and try wigging key and make sure gearshift is in right position. After a few min lights come on the dash and the truck will start back up. It says in the notification area in dash let driver side window down and up again. This has happen twice and both times I was on a interstate almost hit by cars behind me. I was driving about 65 mph going straight most time it would do this if I change lanes.

I was driving on the interstate and a message stating "service stabilitrack" message appears simultaneously with the check engine light and service traction control, the car loses the ability to accelerate and maintain speed. I kept driving because there was no safe place to stop, and after a few miles the door locks unlocked then locked, the info screen flashed and then the engine revved and appeared to drive normally. Several miles later it happened again, over and over. When I reached my nieghborhood the car completely powered off.

Takata recall, the automatic locks keeps locking and unlocking on their own,whether it's parked or driving. Takata recall, the transmission shutters and rough shifting when slowing down or taking off,however the worst seems to be when slowing down.

The truck will completely turn off, loss of electrical, power steering, braking - everything. First time was on highway30mph in traffic 2nd time highway going 45-50 in traffic & today in parking lot, turning in to droppoff lane an childs school. No stearing and hit the curb.

22014 Sierra 1500 4x4 has total loss of power at low speeds including power steering, brakes, dashboard and all other electrical items. 6th event of this nature. Most recent was on a downtown street in brighton mi. Trying to make a left turn and the power steering failed and the truck stalled. This is dangerous because it almost caused an accident. After being able to restart the truck we parked in a parking lot and once again a full power failure. It was restarted after 5-10 minutes but we need help with this issue. And so do a lot of other truck owners from the compaints we have read. We have had this truck in for the stability track recall. The day after they serviced the recall the truck started the electrical issues. We took it back to feldman Chevrolet but they just said to watch it. We are taking it back tomorrow. August 14, 2018.
