36 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2015

The contact owns a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the headlights provided poor illumination and obscured his vision. 37 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2015

The headlights in this vehicle are unsafe. The are dim and only project out a short distance and very little to the periphery. There is also a dark line in the field of view where above it is dark and below is dull light. I have contacted my local gm dealership and the solution was to upgrade the light bulbs which they did. The problem still exists. I escalated it to gm customer service and they tell me there is nothing they can do. This is a very unsafe condition.

38 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2015

Headlights on new 2015 GMC sierra denali 1500 truck inadequate - poor lighting pattern in dark driving conditions - unacceptable and dangerous. Dealership denied issue, then stated manufacturer recommends redirecting lights down toward road. This adjustment didn't resolve the dim lighting issue. I suggested paying out of pocket to replace headlights - dealership laughed and said that would void the warranty. These dim headlights are dangerous.

39 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2015

The contact owns a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500. While driving various speeds, the contact's visibility was diminished because the low and high beam headlights failed to fully illuminate. The vehicle was taken to a dealer on numerous occasions where the head lamps were readjusted and the light bulbs replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 0.

40 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2015

The headlights on my 2015 sierra are horrible and do not illuminate well enough to provide for safe driving at night. Also, there is virtually no side illumination which makes turning corners dangerous.

41 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2015

The headlights on the vehicle fail to provide an adequate lateral view of the highway at night making it nearly impossible to see anything that might be moving in to the driver's path from the left or night sides. Lateral view of the highway is not improved when changing from low beam to high beam or vice versa. The only way to cast any lateral light to the sides of the highway is to utilize the fog lamps which can only be activated while using the low beam. The lack of adequate lateral lighting makes night driving extremely unsafe and nearly impossible to look for animals or humans that might be stepping in front of the driver. The issue has been ongoing since the time the vehicle was leased.

42 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2015

Driving my new 2015 GMC $52,000 GMC sierra, I noticed a distinct slipping/hesitation/general roughness when accelerating from a dead stop. The truck seemed to either have a transmission or engine problem. Took it back to dealership for them to check, and they indicated that this was "normal" and it was just the "cylinder deactivation" feature performing as designed. I explained to them that cylinder deactivation only typically happens at highway speeds and especially not from a stand still. They stuck by their story and again stated this was normal. My son came to see me and drove my new truck. Of course the truck hesitated and slipped from a dead start. "what's wrong with your new truck dad?" he asked. I told him it was 'normal and he just rolled his eyes. This is not normal for every sierra that GMC makes with the 5. 3 engine and 6 speed transmission would do this. I have read on numerous message boards and websites where this is an issue and gm needs to fix the problem. Also, the headlights are extremely dim and are barely usable. As others have stated, I can only see maybe 20-30 feet in front of me and not very bright at that.

43 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2015

Headlights are very poor (when wet road or in town) cannot tell they burning. . . I have 20/20 vision. . . . . . On slow down does not down shift. . . . Cannot accelerate. . . . The starter hangs up on start as if does not fire or no fuel pump.

44 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2015

I have driven many vehicles in my lifetime and these are the worst headlights I have experienced. A very short cutoff and worst of all, no side illumination. I am almost afraid to drive it at night and god help you if it is night and raining.

45 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2015

Headlights are terrible at night. Very unsafe on dark roads.

46 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2015

The head lights are inadequate for night driving. Both low and high beams do not light up enough area in front of the vehicle nearly as good as previous model years. The projector style lights are too focused and do not give enough light to the sides to see adequately down the road. Gm is obviously aware of the issue and performed a bcm update to my vehicle to make the lights brighter but that fix still doesn't resolve the issue. 2016 model years have a completely different headlight allowing those trucks to see much better at night which tells me they are aware of the lighting issues and fixed it for the 2016 gm trucks.

47 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2015

Headlights do not give off enough light. They don't light the road far enough ahead and are bad off to the sides. It's hard to see objects in the road and hard to see streets you are turning on. I have almost hit deer and have missed turns on rural roads.

48 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2015

My 2015 GMC sierra has dangerous headlights, they do not beam more than 30 feet ahead and they are very dim.

49 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2015

The headlights on this truck are so poor, we hate driving it at night! I have taken it to the dealership, and they did an "upgrade" of different bulbs and changed the voltage. This was of little help. Now, one of the upgraded bulbs has already gone out of my less than one year old truck.

50 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2015

I purchased this vehicle in June of 2015. The headlights in this vehicle are absolutely terrible and extremely unsafe. Night time driving is very difficult and unnerving because the headlight performance is so poor. If driving at night and it starts raining, forget it. I have taken the vehicle to the dealer a half dozen times and they performed 1tsb which made almost no noticeable difference.

51 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2015

I recently purchased a 2015 GMC sierra k1500 slt. I selected the slt for the projector headlights which are not offered on the lower trims for improved lighting. However, the headlights have extremely poor illumination (cannot see off to the side of the road, very dim, poor projection in front) in low or high beam. The headlights are the worst on any vehicle that I have owned over the past 35 years. I almost hit a deer on the road at night, driving 35 mph, because the deer could not be seen in the visible arc of the low beams until too late. The deer was standing on the road fog line. I located a gm document on several truck forums concerning this issue. Original document # 4093100, pit5374 (2/27/2015) and followup document # 4109395, pit5374a (3/9/2015).

52 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2015

Headlights on this vehicle are unacceptable you cannot see anything past 100 feet at 35 mph on a dark street. This is a known problem with the sierra.

53 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2015

My 2015 GMC sierra¿s headlights provide horrible visibility at night, the oem projector style headlights installed in this truck are dim, weak and unsafe. I brought my sierra back to the dealership and they applied TSB #pit5374 and upgraded the headlights with the volsa hir bulbs. This upgrade provided a nominal increase in brightness, but the headlights are still dim and unsafe for use while driving on dark roads or in the rain. The do not provide any illumination on the side of the roads, especially on dark country roads which makes it hard to see wildlife and other potential hazards. The design of the headlights on the 2014/2015 GMC sierra are severely deficient. It is my understanding that GMC is fully aware of this problem, so much so that they redesigned the headlights on the 2016 GMC sierra which has the significantly better hid headlights. I have already logged a complaint and spoke with representatives from GMC who looked into my issue and the end result was that there was nothing else they could do.

54 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2015

Headlights are totally inadequate for night driving. Add a bit of rain and it is really scary.

55 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2015

I have a 2015 GMC sierra pickup truck, purchased new in February 2015. As soon as I drove the vehicle at night, I noticed that the headlights were very dim on both low beam and high beam. After researching the problem on the internet, I found a gm technical service bulletin (#pit5374) , which instructs the tech to replace both headlight bulbs, and to increase voltage to the headlights via the body control module. I had the dealer perform this TSB in June of 2015, but since the upgrade, the performance of the headlights is only slightly better. The truck is uncomfortable to drive at night, and especially dangerous to drive at night in the rain. In addition, one of the new headlight bulbs blew last week, but the GMC dealer replaced it under warranty once he located a bulb at another dealership in town.

56 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2015

At highway speeds the vehicle low beam headlights do not provide sufficient illumination to operate in a safe manner. This lack of lighting results in an avoidably unsafe practice of overdriving the headlights. The headlights should illuminate far enough in front so that is not possible to overdrive your lights at normal highway speeds.

57 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2015

The headlights on these trucks are dim to the point of being dangerous. I've had the dealer update performed, and have even tried aftermarket bulbs, to no avail. I am going to have to trade it in I'm afraid as I do not feel safe driving it after dark. Gm really dropped the ball on this design, and have left thousands of owners "in the dark".

58 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2014

The contact owns a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the headlights failed to activate. As a result, the contact's visibility was diminished. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician stated that the headlights were functioning as designed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 420.

59 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2014

Driving home from latrobe in the rain I could not see with the lights . The lights have blind spots in them and I have had them changed once already. The service department said they were having some problems with the lights in these vehicles. This is a real safety hazard because of the blind spots when driving. This is occurring not only in the rain because the night before nice clear night the same shading coming from these lights. This should not happen I am scared to drive this truck at night because of the headlights. This needs to be addressed as a safety hazard .

60 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 09/20/1016

The headlights do not illuminate the road properly. You cannot see left or right, only straight ahead. Also the brightness is very low. Dangerous to drive at night.
