general problems of the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500

The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 mph and making a right turn, the tailgate erroneously opened causing a metal toy to fall out of the truck bed onto the highway. The toy was run over by a second vehicle causing damages to the front-end of the vehicle and destroying the toy. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 24v060000 (latches/locks/linkages). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 72,500.
