The tailgate unlatches without being activated.
This is the second time after already bringing in for service, while driving turning on the radio the volume goes to full volume with a bose system it is ear piercing, none of the radio controls worked, I could not shut off the radio or turn the volume down it was locked at full volume. I had to stop in the middle of the road in cambridge MA, place in park, shut the engine off and open the drivers side door to shut the radio off, it took four attempts of restarting and stopping vehicle before the volume would return to normal. This is a severe safety hazard that will effect hearing and cause an accident, I am so fed up with this vehicle. I need to schedule another appointment for GMC to do nothing.
This has now happened twice. While driving down the road, my radio has went to full volume and continues to go back to full volume, even if I twist the volume control knob quickly to lower the volume. This is a very scary situation while driving down the road and your radio goes to 100% volume out of the blue. There is no warning and the volume just goes to 100%.
While driving, I turned the volume on the radio a couple clicks louder using the steering wheel controls. After I stopped pushing the volume button on the steering wheel, it continued to rapidly increase volume until it maxed out. It was incredibly loud, in a panic, I verified the vol+ button was not stuck. The vol- on the steering wheel did not reduce the volume. I spun the volume button down, on the radio, but it would instantly return to full volume the moment I stopped spinning it. The power button on the radio also had no effect. I was driving at 50mph and had no way to reduce the volume from the max, which was incredibly distracting to say the least. I was finally able to get it to stop by pulling out my phone (which was connected via carplay) and hitting the pause button on my phone. Afterwards it behaved as normal, but my man did my ears hurt. Luckily there wasn’t any traffic nearby as I could hardly focus on the road while fumbling with the audio.
During the first approximately 10 minutes of most drives, the vehicles speaker systems intermittently cuts in and out. This includes the turn signal audio and seatbelt chimes. It does not happen on every drive, I would estimate that about 2 out of 3 drives this issue occurs. All sound will cut out for about a half a second up to 2 seconds. After I begin the drive this issue will go away usually within 10 minutes however sometimes it is quicker than that. I have not taken the vehicle to be looked at due to others stating the dealer has no fix for the issue at this time. The turn signal and seatbelt chime cutting out can create confusion and may cause occupants to forget to buckle their seatbelt. No warning lights or messages have appeared in relation to this issue.
On June 8th I started my truck and it made a strange unfamiliar noise before starting. I thought it was bizarre. Shortly after I stopped in traffic and my truck stalled out. It stayed on but when I went to give it gas I didn’t move. So I restarted the engine and the same strange noise was made. Along with the noise I smelled something funny so I pulled into a gas station. Little did I know my truck was on fire. I got the vehicle away from the gas pumps and within 5 minutes the whole truck was on fire. Before this fire I had brought the vehicle in for service due to a check engine light multiple times the codes will be listed below. I also had an interlock device installed in the truck at the time.
Transmission shutters and won’t engage into reverse when hot, rear backup camera intermittently won’t display on screen just get a picture of a camera on dash screen. Happens multiple times dealer charged me for diagnostics but didn’t even drive the vehicle to get hot.
I was driving home from work one day my truck started. Losing power I could press the gas to make the truck drive it started slowing down.
On January 20th 2024 I was cleaning heavy dirt and mud off of my truck, after leaving the car wash and driving about 20 miles, once I parked my tailgate started to open over and over on its own. This happened again on March 4th 2024 after cleaning off a lot of dirt from my vehicle the tailgate opened on its own while my truck was parked in the garage. It opened into the garage door, when I left I did not know it was open, so when I opened the garage door the hinges on the garage door scraped and dented the tailgate as it opened. I had not pressed any buttons inside the truck, outside of the truck, or pressed the tailgate open buttons on the key fob. After intense car washes it has opened on its own each time.
On Feb. 27, 2024 approx. 04:15 left for gym and work. When arrived at gym and began to park, I put truck in reverse to check back line and noticed I was looking at my license plate. I then put into park and got out of truck and shut tailgate. Thinking not much about it, I must've touched the button the night before and hit a bump on way into work. Since I have a toneau cover, it fits pretty tight and I typically have to pull it down by hand. I heard about recall that day after I got to work from CO workers. Checked my VIN, but did not come up as one of the tailgate recalls. March 7, 2024- left again for gym and work approximately same time in am. As I was driving into gym and work, another car coming up close behind me wanted to pass. The car then suddenly backed off to a considerable distance. As I got to gym and put in reverse to check my back line, I noticed I was looking at my license plate again. I know that I did not touch a button either on fab or tailgate. Because I park in garage and leave fab in a secure place where it can not be pressed. If tailgate was down in my garage, it would have stopped garage door from opening and/or damaged my garage door. In either instances, I did not get a sensor alarm going off on my dash for "tailgate down", if its even equipped with that alarm.
While driving vehicle with infotainment system playing radio, radio volume goes to full volume that is ear piercing and is going to cause hearing damage. Must pull off the road as fast as possible, place vehicle in park, shut off vehicle and open drivers side door to get radio to shut off. While the issue is happening volume knob does nothing, stereo on off button does nothing and steering wheel volume controls do nothing. This is a serious issue when trying to pull over, I keep ear muffs in vehicle to protect ear drums. This has happened at least 6 times, I plan on bring to GMC dealer.
The tailgate is opening on it's own. There have been many times it has been open and we were not aware until we go to the back of the truck or put the truck in reverse and notice it on the backup camera. We first noticed it happen around christmas of 2023, and it has been happening randomly since then.
Side blind zone warning in driver’s side mirror constantly alerts(turns on) when driving on a highway next to guardrails without any other vehicles nearby. Extremely disturbing at night.
While driving, on its own, the radio volume surged to 100%. All radio controls were unresponsive, and the volume was maxed-out. . Volume bar on the console display was reading 100%. Was unable to turn the radio down or off. Issue did not resolve until I drove home and turned the vehicle off.
Tailgate occasionally self deploys. 1 incident resulted in damage to the tailgate while towing a trailer.
While driving the vehicle, the volume on the audio panel shot up to 100%. It caught me off guard and nearly caused me to steer into oncoming traffic. All volume knobs and switches were unresponsive including the power button to the whole unit. I had to pull over and shut off the truck and let it sit for over 10 minutes in order to get it to stop. There are now numerous audio issues, including but not limited to the audio speakers making a crackling noise so bad it renders the use of any audio completely, also periodically the audio loses all volume and will remain completely silent regardless in am/fm, satellite radio, bluetooth or phone call. All these seem to happen anytime the truck gets wet from either car wash or the weather.
Rear tailgate would randomly fall down without any key fob buttons being hit. Did some google searches and it sounds like it is very common. There is a faulty tailgate switch that will randomly drop the tailgate which could cause damage if you have a bike rack on or things could fall out of the truck bed while driving if it isn't noticed that the tail gate has dropped.
Problem #1: initially reported issue with check engine light coming on when driving in rain or getting vehicle washed. Research shows grounding issues. Dealership replaced bcm but problem persists. Reported problem again but no actions are being taken.
While driving the vehicle, the radio will suddenly and instantly jump to full volume frightening the driver and passengers and making it hard to focus on the road and control the vehicle. The dealership and gm will not fix the issue as it happens intermittently.
Unwanted radio volume ramp up to max: the radio volume turned up to the maximum while driving and could not be turned down with user controls including those both on the steering wheel and the volume knob on the dash. The situation lasted about 60 seconds before it began responding again. The vehicle has the optional bose radio system which is extremely loud. This issue presents risks with damage to my small daughter's ears, as well a significant distraction from driving due to frantic attempts to decrease the volume while being overwhelmed by the noise level.
Purchase new in sept 2022. I did not notice that my trailer hitch connector was not working until after a year later. When I needed to hookup my enclosed car hauler trailer. And notice that my trailer daytime running lights where not working. Only brakes/,turn signals and four way flashers. I contacted my dealer and again they found no issues with the factory harness. Leaving me on the side of the road until morning. As I had no running lights. After arriving back home. I crawl under the rear bumper. Just to check the connections. I could not see anything nor would I know what to look for. I called another GMC dealer and they mention that they been having problems with the module for the factory trailer connector. Still having issues.
While unlocked, passenger doors go through unlocking phase, door locks click, parking lights flash and tail gate comes open. Along with this, an electric motor sound comes from underneath the vehicle (pre start fuel pressurization sequence?) that goes on and on, doors locked, or unlocked, that, left unchecked, drains the battery. Must be hooked to battery recharger round the clock.
The vehicle is brand new with only 300 miles on the clock. Today while driving to work and listening to xm-radio the volume spiked to max and would not respond to controls to lower volume or turn off. I was able to lower by switching to a different output. It was very detracting and potentially dangerous since the bose speakers are very loud.
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving at approximately 55 mph, the infotainment system, the rearview camera became inoperative, and the vehicle stalled. The tailgate unintendedly opened, and the steering and lane control assist feature independently activated causing the vehicle to steer in the other lanes. The contact stated while the vehicle was in reverse, the vehicle unexpectedly shifted to park. No warning light was illuminated; however, the "check suspension" message was displayed on the instrument panel and lights on the instrument panel was intermittently darkened. The headlights were intermittently illuminated independently. The failures had occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed; however, the results were unknown. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while the husband was driving approximately 20 mph smoke was suddenly present coming from the vents inside the cabin of the vehicle. After pulling over and stopping the vehicle sparks suddenly came from the radio console and the husband immediately exited the vehicle. The vehicle quickly was engulfed in flames and the fire department was called to the scene and extinguished the fire. During the incident the vehicle was destroyed. A fire and police report was taken and the vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet notified of the incident. No injuries were reported. The failure mileage was 11,373.
I bought a new GMC, I received 3 vouchers for computer chips to be installed at a later time years ago. They have not provided them. They are selling new fully equipped vehicles with computers chips just fine. Can you handle and have GMC install their backlog of computer chips? there are many safety features that do not work, like parking assit and basically all warnings like when backing up etc. They made me sign a form stating they are not responsible for safety issues stemming from this (our inability to sue) this should be illegal. Thanks.
While driving down the road on two different occasions the volume on the radio went to full blast and would not turn down or turn off. This caused distracted driving and could potentially cause an accident. Dealer states manufacturer is aware of issue with no resolution at this time. No warning of failure and the first occurrence was February 12, 2023 and the second occurrence happened March 5, 2023.
While towing my 7000lb car trailer, I get a message that the trailer brakes need service, then I get another message that the trailer brakes are disabled. At this point the brakes are shut off and no longer work. This is extremely dangerous. The problem is with the truck. It does the same thing with multiple trailers of tried with electric brakes. All of these trailers work fine by my other vehicle with electric brakes for the trailer.
On 05/28/2022 my family was driving my brand new 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 3. 0 diesel at a rate of 60mph. There was suddenly a loud clunk (transmission) after proceeding a little further and getting speed back to 60mph there was a similar “clunk”… the diesel truck then immediately gained several various check engine / sensor lights all over the dash and went into limp mode. Speed slowly decreased from 60mph and finally as we were navigating our final left turn to our destination the truck would not accelerate thru an intersection subjecting our entire family to utter danger of oncoming vehicles. As a last ditch effort to save ourselves I put the truck in reverse and was able to reverse about 2mph. Then proceeded to shut the truck down and turn it back on to get out of the intersection, but the truck would not come out of park. Onstar emergency was contacted to call the police as we were in an extremely dangerous situation. This truck nearly caused our entire family to get in a very bad collision. The truck was stuck in the middle of the intersection for over 2 hours. The police even attempted to help getting the truck out of park , but was unsuccessful. The truck was scanned on site and had various codes including c1555 (x4) u0101 (x2) p25a2 u220f collision assist light check engine light service traction control light service esc the truck experienced catastrophic failure at only 319 miles. Day 4 of ownership. This vehicle needs to be investigated if it is failing this early on. There also needs to be a manual release for the parking gear. Truck has no way to be placed in neutral upon failure of the transmission relay.
Check engine light came on at 458 miles. Took it in and after an hour they determined it was the ecm. They said it was bad. Now they're on the hunt for one. In the meantime, in a day the truck has started feeling like it's over shifting and then bogging down. 458 miles, really! I'm going to need a loaner for longer than I've had it and still make payments.
Electrical component- dashboard is constantly glitching, blue-tooth will not connect properly, electrical appears to turn off randomly while driving to the point we have to pullover because it appears and feels like the truck is turning off. Power step running boards malfunction- they don't open or close when they are supposed to. Power step running boards also malfunction while driving. It is a risk because we've had to pull over in conditions that aren't safe, putting a family of five in danger. The problem has been reported to the dealership and manufacturer and has gone unresolved.
Truck drove as expected with no prior warnings. We pulled over for road snacks/drinks upon starting the truck we got a whole slew of warnings and warning lights. The warnings included:. Service esc, service trailer brake system, service brake assist, stering assist is reduced drive with care and finally brake system failure 43 mph top speed. The check engine light, traction control off and brake light stayed on. We slowly drove to an o'reilly's and got the odb code p25a2 (1 of 2 stored) and p25a2 (2 of 2 pending). I then noticed I had an email notification from onstar advanced diagnostics: this is a diagnostic alert for your GMC sierra. Dear victor rubio, an issue with the antilock braking system in your 2022 GMC sierra has been detected. Please service your vehicle within 7 days. The following morning the truck was was started and all seemed normal like nothing ever happened, no warning lights or warning messages our of concern we dropped off at garlyn shelton Buick GMC service center to diagnose the issue. They reported finding code c05b0 for brake fluid leak. Further states no external leaks found, brake fluid test passed 2 of 3 times, recommend needs master cylinder assembly but no replacement parts available.
On multiple occasions the radio has went to max volume for approximately 2-3 seconds then shuts off and goes through a reset. This situation can cause the driver to be suddenly distracted put the driver and others at risk of an accident.
