Intermittent problems with various systems freezing up or not working: windshield wipers freezing for several seconds mid-wipe. Nearly caused accident. Heads up display not retaining settings seat controls (bladders that inflate deflate) intermittently working/infotainment screen freeze (where seat control is displayed). Lane departure warning inconsistently working (beeping) radio quits playing for several seconds and screen goes dark blinker stops blinking and then re-starts 6. 2l engine slow/rough idle continuously hunting for stable speed (this is the only problem that is not intermittent). At times almost dies. A/c unit stuck on "hot" delivering 92 degree air when outside 72 degrees. Temp set at low. (no a/c just trying to get fresh outside air in). Vehicle was under recall and control modules "reflashed" before purchased (new). Dealer reflashed which did not solve problems. Dealer cannot duplicate (but they only spend a little time looking at the issue). Has been in shop off/on for about 2 weeks attempting to resolve. Issues on occasion still occuring since mid October 2024 purchase.

Rear sliding glass window is leaking water around the exterior frame. This is addressed in TSB 18-na-383 but not covered under any warranty. My rear seats and carpet are becoming wet. I am concerned about the possibility of mold and an electrical short/fire resulting from water intrusion. There are many reports and discussions on the internet regarding this issue. Full window replacement estimated at $1300. Patchwork repair with caulk is estimated at $600 with no guarantees of success. I would expect GMC to cover the replacement of the rear glass in kind and remedy any other damage to my vehicle due to water intrusion into the cabin area.

Neither of the two rear seat head rests stay up. Also, they are too low when extended to full height to protect an adult from head injury in a crash or hard stop. Your head hits the rear glass window. I am 5'-9" tall. The head rest does not lock or remain up in any position. Applying very light pressure to the head rest causes it to drop all the way down. This occurs if you sit in the seat and lean your head back. I'm concerned that someone will be injured if these head rests aren't made to engage and stay in the extended positions. The front rests have a lock button that you must push to lower the head rest. The rear ones do not have this feature. This problem has occurred since the vehicle was new. I mentioned it to the dealer but they said that is how they are designed.

The contact owns a 2010 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the stitching of the front passenger's side seat was coming apart, exposing the air bag. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to niles sales and service (3500 n roosevelt blvd, key west, FL 33040) where it was diagnosed with the seat needing to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the recall was only for the frontal air bag replacement and not for the air bag in the seat. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact to the local dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.

Reached for a fallen object between the driver and middle front seat and there is a razor sharp piece that took a large chunk out of the hand which caused heavy bleeding and medical supplies to stop. The vehicle was stopped and just tried to retrieve fallen object between the seats. The incredibly sharp parts need to be cut or removed from this and other similar vehicles or covered with something. It was bare metal exposed out with sharp edges that cut the right hand so badly.

I've had movement in my drivers seat since the day I've owner the truck. GMC put in a shim kit to address the problem but it's still acting up. They refuse to replace or repair any further. Also my transmission has a horrible shifting problem. When it's cold out or after the first time shifting into gear after sitting a long time, the truck lags to shift into gear then all of a sudden lunges forward or backwards depending on which gear I'm in. I've almost ran through my garage door and side fence and had to slam on the brakes. GMC has looked into the issues but won't resolve them. The last repair made was to change out the transmission fluid. That had helped with the hard shifting while driving but the truck still lunges forward or backwards and lags shifting into gear. I've had to learn to deal with it but anyone else who would drive my truck could seriously hurt themselves or someone else.
My truck braking system is going to the floor board of my truck. Making very hard for me to stop. They call themselves fixing it but the same problem is back. Really tired of this problem and other spend 1000. 00 on springs and the vehicle was only a 1 1/2 old was told the warranty on cover it if they were broken a lie the dealership told me.

Had the heated seats turned on one day, all of a suded felt a really hot sensation on my lower back. I turned them off thought it was just gett to hot. Got in the truck a couple of days later. The heated seat element burned a hole right thru the leather, even melted a spot on my sweater. Dealer said they have never heard of this issue only $800 for new covers and heat elements. My brother has a silverrodo same year, his heated seats stoped working all ready also.

Tl the contact owns a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the driver's seat made popping noises and moved from side to side while the vehicle made turns. The manufacturer issued an unknown technical service bulletin, but it was not covered under a warranty. The vehicle was taken to colonial Buick GMC (3965 atlanta hwy, loganville, GA 30052, (678) 922-9606), but they refused to inspect the condition of the seat. The dealer also refused to notify the manufacturer. The dealer acknowledged the service bulletin, but claimed that they could not duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 28,000.

First week of ownership I noticed that the rear window had a water leak by rear driver seat. While inspecting the leak, I notice that the paint on the rear brake spoiler above the rear window had two black marks. Body shop technician rubbed his fingers on the spots and paint was rubbing off. I started to receive service steering column lock messages intermittently and regularly during startup. Heating indicator lights for all the seats do not light up to indicate their settings. This occurs while vehicle is stationary or on the road. The rear backup camera screen turns blue and displays service rear backup camera while reversing and it occurs occasionally.
When I press on the brakes, it feels as though the master cylinder is gone and it is the manual type drum brakes that has air in the line. It takes everything I have to press them and pray it stops!! the vehicle is always in motion when detecting this problem and seems to occur more repeatedly if the brakes are pump quickly in succession before applying brakes or when the brakes are pressed for an extended amount of time then you release and repress it want stop. Another issue is my lane id warning. When turned on at the button, it just beeps at me and shows service light. When I first took it in with the problem, the dealership called me and said all fixed, but it did it before I left the parking lot. They had my truck all day for the issue, put me out of a vehicle and then said they would need for extended time to repair but didn't know there was problem. How do you make that determination when you told me its repaired. I just turned it off and haven't used in 2 years.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500. While the vehicle was stationary, the driver's seat became loose and shifted towards the steering wheel after shifting gears. Sunrise pontiac in memphis, tennessee was made aware of the failure and updated the firmware in the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
Drivers seat moves ,shifts when turning corners ,had in shop 2 times with jim ellis GMC mall of georgia. . This has been going on since I purchased new. Not fixed yet. . There again today. .
Constant vibration and or shake at speeds between 60-70 mph. This issue is commonly referred to as the "chevy shake" this issue has been existing since first purchasing this vehicle. I addressed the concern with the dealership during multiple visits for service. As this was my first full size truck, I wasn't sure what to expect regarding how the vehicle would ride at highway speeds. I was told by the service department that the vehicle was in tolerance in regards to how it rode and the constant vibration. So I excepted this as being the norm and went ahead to add some modifications to my truck. Since the initial complaint the service department has since turned over most of their staff and added people willing to address and acknowledge that my vehicle indeed has this vibration/shake issue. Due to the modifications made they will not address or attempt to correct this issue. Had I pressed the issue in the beginning and not accepted what these so called professionals had told me to be acceptable maybe I wouldn't be in this predicament. My vehicle has also been in for numerous bucket seat issues from sagging and poor seat support. Everything described here is factual as I have all the service records and history with the same GMC dealership and service department in regards to these problems. Long story short, these issues have made long distance trips almost unbearable between the constant shaking and poor seat support.
My driver's seat became loose approximately 2 weeks ago (7/17/17). It has become progressively worse, to the point where I can feel my seat shifting when I turn or accelerate. I am worried that in the event of a wreck, my seat may become a projectile. I took my truck into the dealership in waco, TX on 7/31/17, and the dealership has stated (today, 8/1/17) that this condition is not covered by any warranty program, which I find disappointing and frustrating. I have read multiple reports of this same condition in gm trucks from 2014 - 2015 year models.
The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. While driving 35 mph, the front driver and passenger seats became loose and began to shift independently. The contact also smelled radiator fluid due to the fact that the radiator cracked. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was determined that nothing was wrong with the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made of aware of the issue and stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v446000 (seats). The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

The contact owns a 2013 GMC Sierra 1500. While pushing back the driver's seat, the back of the seat fell. The contact later noticed a sharp piece of metal in the back of the seat. The contact believed that the lumbar support in the seat failed. The vehicle was taken to johnson motor company of georgia Cadillac (1122 walton way, augusta, GA 30901), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact spoke with johnson motor company of south carolina (490 jefferson davis hwy, graniteville, SC 29829) and was advised to speak to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that they would not assist since the vehicle was not under warranty or recall. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
The driver seat does not go up and down. This is a big safety feature purchased new I can barley see over steering wheel why would you make seatslike this.
Over the summer the drivers seat in my truck started making a clicking sound and felt like the base was shifting, almost like a bolt was coming loose and the base was sliding on the threads. I took it to the dealer and described what was happening, they drove it and decided that they needed to install a shim kit to repair the problem. They installed the kit and now a few months later it is starting to do it again. How safe is it to have shims under the seat to tighten things up when that seat is what it supposed to hold you in the vehicle in the case of a collision. I am taking it back to my dealer to have them re-repair it but are shims even safe under the seat or is this just gms money saving solution to get consumers off their back while putting their safety at risk?.
The contact owns a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500. While driving 25 mph, the electrical functions for the driver seat failed and allowed the seat to move forward. The failure caused the contact to become wedged between the steering wheel and the seat. The failure occurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,200.
The contact owns a 1999 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while coming to a stop, the latch that held the driver seat in place failed. The contact stated that the seat would slide forward and back. The vehicle was not diagnosed or replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 81,316.

-engine gas consumption state 21 mpg highway, 17 mpg combined and 15 mpg city. When I started using this vehicle during the first weeks and months the best mpg I could get at the highway is 18. 5 mpg with top tier gas such shell & chevron during the first 2 years and now costco brand. Every since I bought it, the gas mpg have gone down around 0. 5 mpg. The vehicle feels that it has to use more gas in order to perform. -the motor oil pump at times moves down from the 40 mark to the 20 when idle at traffic light and when it starts moving, it temporarily moves to the 60 mark. -the transmission is an 8 speed automatic. It has issues shifting to first gear, second gear and times 3rd gear. When driving at slow speeds like in traffic jams, mall parking lots or when you slow down at the traffic light and then turns green and you start accelerating again it feels harsh on gearing down and up, like someone rear ended your vehicle. -this truck has the active fuel management (afm) and it turns on even slower speeds and you feel how the engine and transmission struggle to really gear up and down. Like it never gears and tries to accelerate at a higher gear. Like in manual transmissions when you accelerate on a higher gear than at correct own it takes forever to reach the needed speed. -even if all 8 pistons are on it feels as if I am running on a smaller engine like a v6 or v4. -the driver car seat feels that move a little like an 1/8 of an inch. -it just feels that something is wrong with motor and transmission.
Drivers does not function as advertised. The motor clicks during operation and at times does not operate at all.

Differential makes cracking noise, lum bar on drivers seat doesn't inflate,.
I purchased a GMC sierra 2015 regular cab from your company representative, aljomaih automotive company in the kingdom of saudi arabia. However, after a few months, I discovered that the vehicle had several defects, and it exposes its users to serious threat. After that, ministry of commerce in kingdom of saudi arabia has made several callsfor users of the same vehicle that they have to check with the representativeto fix the defect for free. However, the representative temporized and evaded, then I had to file a lawsuit against aljomaih automotive company, general motors’s representative in the kingdom of saudi arabia. The court ordered the experts' department to checkthe vehicle by five specialized workshops, and reports were issued unanimously on the following: "the defect in the mentioned vehicle is a factory defect, which was found in all vehicles of the same type and not only the mentioned vehicle". Also, I have submitted report to the court from the general motors website proving that the mentioned vehicle is faulty with three other defects. As well as, all six calls were issued by the ministry of commerce, including the mentioned vehicle, with the chassis number.
Cracked dash left top corner of passenger air bag area. Same as everyone else on here. Replaced drivers side seat motor at$132. Replaced drivers side rear window regulator at $165 with labor at $60. Replaced both door handles at $89 with labor at $60. Had to rent a car for 4 days in the amount of $285. This all happened in Nov. And Dec. Of 2015. None of which is covered by my extended warranty purchased from dealer. Also the paint is bubbling around the rear cargo light. Also not covered under my "paint warranty". At the time of all this happening we had less than 65,000 miles on the vehicle.
In late 2015, I began to feel the driver's seat loosen as I would go around a corner. At my next oil change at the dealership, I reported it. I was told that GMC would be sending new bolts to repair the problem. Here we are, July 2016 and my seat is loose. Going around turns, starting or stopping, my seat is moving. When I confronted an automobile tech, he said I need to start calling gm and hounding them. I believe this situation is getting serious and they know about the situation but are not responding.
The contact owns a 1999 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the locking mechanism on the driver side seat fractured and as a result, the seat would slide back and forth abnormally. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 107,000.
1999 GMC sierra about 55,000miles: manual seat drivers side: the device that prevents the seat from sliding back and forth freely on its tracks has failed. Now the seat is all the way back except under braking, when it abruptly slides all the way to the steering wheel. No matter how alert you try to be, eventually some maneuver will be needed without time to brace yourself, your foot will mash the brake uncontrollably to the floor as the seat rushes forward, your arms won't be able to steer as your body rushes forward into the steering wheel. A handful of broken nylon pieces and zinc casting pieces and a spring were recovered from the starboard track. Dealer doesn't have a replacement for just the broken stuff, the track assembly is insanely expensive ($500 for both sides) not counting labor. No junkyard I can find has the part, this model seat was only made in 1999. I found about a dozen complaints online about this when I did a google search.
Dash has cracked in 5 places the dash is also peeling paint. Also the crime interior handles the chime is pulling off and extremely sharp. My exterior door handles paint is falling off in chunks on all 4 doors. My drivers side seat the lumbar support broke 3 times.
I am experiencing the same problem as was reported below by others. The drivers seat slides forward and backward nearly 2 inches while driving. The truck only has 56,000 miles on it. Make : GMC model : Sierra 1500 year : 1999 crash : no fire : no number of injuries: 0 odi id number : 10191166 date of failure: may 18, 2006 component: seats.
