38 Wheel problem of the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 03/25/2018

I recently purchased a GMC Sierra 1500 from carmax fitted with a set of crosscontact lx20's. The truck had about 18,000 miles or fewer when I bought it and it now has 31,000 miles on it. The two front tires started to disintegrate around 28,000 miles and now have become unsafe and unusable. I contacted your customer support office and was told that they could not do anything for me as I was the second owner and I should contact carmax. Of course carmax says, call continental. The code on all 4 of my tires is a32a wbde 2215. I have enclosed a few photos of the front tires, the back tires are showing the same separation from the steel belt, but none of the tread has come off yet. I believe the turning back and forth of the front tires has accelerated their demise. I have purchased 4 new goodyear tires because I truly fear for my families safety. I would appreciate your time and consideration in this matter.

39 Wheel problem of the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 03/16/2018

Bought set of four dynapro ht p255 70r17 tires. Had to take them in for re-balancing three times due to rough bumpy ride. Third re-balancing was to a different dealer than the original seller. He said tires were badly "out of round". Original dealer replaced tires with michelin. Had to have these tires 'road force balanced' and problem was solved.

40 Wheel problem of the 2004 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 12/22/2017

2004 GMC Sierra 1500 sle. Goodyear wrangler p255 70r16 dot mdcuc6hr 5211. Tires have approximately 25k miles on them. Left rear tire blew due to tread separation. Visually inspected tires and checked pressure on all tires before a long road trip. Tire blew without warning and am now nervous about the remaining tires. Was on interstate 10 at approx 70mph when tire blew, luckily no one was next to me as the rear end of the truck fishtailed into the next lane. Was able to pull over safely and put on a spare.

41 Wheel problem of the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500

Dec. 11,2017 driving under 20 mph on a local road speed limit 30mph ball joint pulled out of control arm front drivers side. Front wheel fell over caused damage to tire and rim and disabled abs system by cutting wires. Lucky I was not on interstate 84 going 65 mph in fishkill new york truck could have crashed with other vehicles or caused serious injury to occupants of my vehicle could have caused vehicle to roll over. Dealer claimed never heard of this happening and that I must have hit something to cause the ball joint to pull out of control arm, never hit anything not even a pot hole I am the only driver of this vehicle. Had to replace control arm which holds the upper ball joint which is pressed into control arm. Took dealer from Monday to Friday to complete repairs. Control arm not under warranty repairs cost 936. 42. Found many complaints about ball joint and control arm separating on this vehicle online. Driver side front ball joint.

42 Wheel problem of the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 11/07/2017

Recall# 42190 upper control arm broke on my GMC Sierra 1500. I was driving out of a church parking lot and made a left turn on to a city street and my right front passenger tire fell off. I contacted gm warranty department and got it towed to dalton motors in marianna, ar. The technician stated that I had been in an accident. That wasn't true. He called sunrise GMC in memphis, TN off covington pike and told them all types of lies and to not fix it. I took it to sunrise on November 20, 2017 and the technician looked at it for 5 seconds and said I hit a pot hole and that he would not fix it or honor my warranty. A pot hole didn't cause this problem. I currently have a 5 year 36,000 mile warranty that covers this problem. There is also a current recall on this issue and I was not notified when I purchased the vehicle. I had to look it up on my own.

46 Wheel problem of the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 03/02/2017

The GMC sierra has a terrible vibration from 70 - 80 mph. It has been in the shop 7 times over the last year, 9 new tires, and the vibration still continues. I have attempted to resolve the issue with gm but there has been no resolution. The truck feels unstable and like something is going to break on the highway which is a safety concern. This vehicle has issues and it needs addressed.

47 Wheel problem of the 2012 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 02/15/2017

I purchased this truck with all 4 tires goodyear wrangler at/s 265/70 r17 dot number 4bt6 fder 3411 on August 19,2016. I have had a shaky/bumpy sensation since I bought the truck & the tires always wore uneven. The mileage on the vehicle was 47,541 at the time of purchase. On February 15, 2016 at a mileage of roughly 60,440 two of the tires had belts break. I had the tires checked by multiple repair places & was told that it is a tire defect. Dealership refused to replace tires. I bought 4 new tires of a different brand. I am unsure of the mileage put on the tires before my purchase, but I only put around 13,000 miles on them before the iccurance.

49 Wheel problem of the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500

8 speed transmission bucks, hesitates, lurches forward, clunks, while in drive. The continental tires are cupping, which gm says is characteristic of the brand. The truck vibrates while at 25mph, around 50mphm and 65-75mph. While in awd/4wd at 30 and 50mph, the driveline makes a whining noise and vibrates sometimes.

50 Wheel problem of the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500

The 2016 GMC sierra has a constant vibration which is felt through the seats and the steering wheel. The condition is identical to those submitted for the 2014 and 2015 GMC and Chevrolet models.

51 Wheel problem of the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 07/30/2016

Within one year of purchasing this vehicle, and occurring numerous times over the course of 15,000 miles, this vehicle suddenly and without warning completely lost control in wet conditions. Vehicle was always operated with all safety mechanisms including traction control on. Vehicle was always operated at or below the posted speed limits and well below speed limits in wet conditions. Accelerating from a stop and turning onto roads either from a stop sign or red light, the vehicle repeatedly spun 90 to 180 degrees for no reason. The vehicle also on several occasions completely lost control laterally and slid sideways as if on ice; sometimes in traffic and fortunately no damage or injury occurring. Vehicle has been to the dealer with tires and suspension found to be within limits. Since no individual component was defective either the vehicle, tires, or the combination must be intrinsically unsafe. Gm customer care was contacted and case 8-2311352535 opened. Gm will not perform any action or replace tires since they cannot duplicate the loss of control on dry roads. Gm's official response to me was to take the vehicle to the dealer during a rain storm and with one of their techs in the vehicle, I was to replicate my problem for them to witness. Gm's official response to me, including customer care consultant and dealer service manager working through his district manager, was to intentionally make the vehicle lose control on a public road. This seems completely irresponsible and potentially criminally to me should any property damage or injury occur as a result. I have replaced the tires at my own expense of nearly $1000 on a nearly new $50k+ truck in order to drive safely.

52 Wheel problem of the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 06/02/2016

Truck shakes at hi-way speed. Replaced tires as told by dealer and road force balance and had no effect on the shaking.

First of all the headlights are very dim and at night cannot see nothing. Dealer said it is what is . Very bad !! also my sierra on window sticker states comes with all terrain tires it does not have all terrain tires . They are 265/65/r18 goodyear wrangler sra . They are not according to my attorney who states the window sticker is totally incorrect and is fraudulent check your tires and window stickers and compare and look on goodyears website you will see. Also my transmission clunks and knocks and shifts incorrectly dealer states its normal I spend 40k on a new truck and all I have are problems and gm does nothing. It downshifts horrible what can I do???.

54 Wheel problem of the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 05/12/2016

I purchased a new GMC sierra from royal automotive GMC in vestavia, al on may 12, 2016. Since the time of purchase, there has been a vibration present, and noticeable at speeds above 60 mph. I have taken the vehicle in to royal three times and they have yet to remedy this issue. While obviously annoying, the issue causes me headaches, and I question whether it could lead to safety issues. I'm currently working directly with gm on the issue, but there is still no resolution.

55 Wheel problem of the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 03/01/2016

I bought the vehicle new in 9/2015. I reported a vibration between 75-80mph to the nearby gm dealer (twice). The dealer kept the truck for a few days and stated they could not correct the problem. I took the truck back to the original dealer where I bought it, they did a road force balance on the tires and reported the problem fixed. I took the truck back to the original dealer at 13k miles, they kept the truck for a few days and reported the tires needed to be replaced. They replaced the tires and stated the vibration has been resolved. I drove the truck for another 3k miles and noticed that the vibration was starting up again. At 18k miles, I returned the truck to the original dealer and they are going to try and resolve the problem a 5th time.

56 Wheel problem of the 2004 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 10/09/2015

Bought truck 15 days ago. Had a nail in my tire so I put on the spare tire which was rusty and probably never looked at for 11 years but had to put this on to avoid being stranded. This vehicle was just inspected and was wondering if the spare tire is included in the inspection process. Due to rusty tire condition the lugs loosened and tire fell off while driving on the high way after I changed it. I was told bye the mechanics that the lugs loosened due to a rusty faulty spare. Does this fall under any laws due to just purchasing this vehicle and it going through the dealers inspection sticker. This cussed a serious accident and want to know if they should be held accountable or if I am liable for this.

57 Wheel problem of the 2011 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 04/12/2015

While driving 50 mph. With out notice, the front passenger tire exploded. Checking the tire shows in middle of tread the tires steel belt just blew and popped out of the tread. Tho there is high mileage on the tires the tread wear is still very good. No damage to side wall and nothing was hit on roadway. Tire just exploded with out notice. The gap is accross the entire width of tread approx 6 inces.

58 Wheel problem of the 2001 GMC Sierra 1500

59 Wheel problem of the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 11/26/2014

For over 45k miles I have complained off a vibration coming from the rear of my GMC sierra at 65 to 75 miles per hour. My supporting dealer that I purchased it from can't find the problem and is most likely out of business. This is an ongoing issue. Recently I went under the truck to find the entire frame is rusted from the gas tank back to the rear off the vehicle around the spare tire and elsewhere. Whats wrong with gm manufacturing, are they that cheap, that no paint is place on the frame. Additionally the chrome wheels that came with the vehicle are corroding yet another cheap process that gm refuses to address. Mind you I have always fixed and repaired my own vehicles. I have washed this vehicle so much by using a cold water hose under the vehicle and the top as well to get the salt and brine used by the northern states off the car and yet I still get the corrosion. How do I get gm. To fix the wrongs they have produced.

60 Wheel problem of the 2006 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 11/16/2014

I wake up early on Sunday, on 11/16/15 and took a company truck a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500, to bring some cargo. On my way back home on 836 west expressway, I took my exit and when press the brake pedal to reduce speed, the pedal went to the floor of the car and the brake action was minimum to nothing. Another vehicle was stop at the traffic light, and to avoid the obvious impact to the stopped car, I pumped the brakes several times and applied the parking brakes at approx. 30 mph. Seeing no way to avoid the collision, I pull the car to the side of the road and hit a concrete water drain, resulting in abruptly sopping of my car and my knee hit the lower dashboard. The guy of the other car went out and ask me, are you "drunk" "are you ok" I called a flatbed and bring my truck to my work place and then notice that a brake line was broke and most of the brake fluid spilled all over the front of the chassis, under the radiator. The brake line was incredible rusted, reason for the brake down, I had cars with a lot more years with no problem with brake lines. When I inspect the other brake lines deeply, noticed that an excessive corrosion was in all of them. GMC should do something about this, safety issue, is no reason for a 2006, only 8 years vehicle, present that level of corrosion on brake lines. "coke can thickness apparently" . Somebody will die or seriously injure, or will kill somebody, pedestrian or driver because the sudden brake failure in a case like this. I will bring the vehicle to a garage to replace the broken line and probably all of them. . Its ridiculous, and very dangerous that this things happens in a vehicle that age. I really appreciate to bring this case to the proper attention of the manufacturer in order to avoid more incidents like mine. I consider myself very lucky,. Could not be writing this if this happens to me at a high speed. Thanks. ,.

62 Wheel problem of the 2009 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 07/03/2014

Thankfully I was driving on a city road at about 25-30 mph. When I heard a loud squeak and a little noise. I thought that something must have fallen in the bed of the truck. I looked in my mirror and saw my spare tire laying in the middle of the lane. Thankfully, there were no cars following. I turned around and found that the cable that holds the spare tire up under the bed of the truck had broken and dropped the tire and the components that hold the spare tire in place where laying on the pavement. I normally drive on a very busy interstate road at 70 mph. I can not even imagine what could have happen this had happened on that road! I am sure that someone could have been killed! I have contacted a dealer and I am still waiting to hear what they want to charge me to fix the issue.

68 Wheel problem of the 2001 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 08/05/2010

I am writing to complain about a 2001 GMC sierra. It has a safety recall for the wheel speed sensor which can also damage the hub assembly, but the dealership still wants to charge a whopping $550 replacement fee. They say they can not replace the wheel speed sensor without replacing the hub assembly even though it has been recalled. The bad speed sensor is causing the abs to malfunction at low speeds and it is also smelling like electrical fire, the problem happens every time we drive he truck and I am worried that it will soon catch fire. We were told one day that the problem was the wheel speed sensor, and the very next day, after informing the dealer that it was under a safety recall, they told us we had to replace the entire hub assembly. I have no doubt that the entire hub bearing is bad, but I believe it probably went bad as a result of the malfunctioning wheel sensor. Needless to say, I am disappointed in my dealer and GMC.

70 Wheel problem of the 2004 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 06/10/2009

I purchased bridgestone dueler alenza hl tires at 42509 on 06/10/2009 and on 04/10/2011 I had a slow leak and went to bridgestone dealer for repair but noticed cracking in tread. I was told this was normal! in may 2013 my mechanic said this cracking was dry rot and I verified with other tire dealer truck had 70693 mile. This is a 65000 mile tire and I only had 14000 miles before cracking started- this is a safety hazard. I did not go back to bridgestone dealer because I was given inaccurate info and I bought michelin instead. I called bridgestone and they told me there was nothing they could do and "have a nice day. "!!!! good luck if you buy these!.
