Carrier/rack Problems of GMC Sierra 2500 - part 1

A year or so after recievinv my airbag recall service, my dash started cracking. It started at the passenger side airbag. It is now cracked in other places and rattles constantly while in motion. I feel this is a safety hazard. I've yet to see a GMC/chevy from 2007. 5-14 that this is not a problem. It seems that the dash pieces could cause serious injury/death if not fixed. Gm will not fix the problem on their end with out the consumer paying $450-750. They said that was the replacement cost with the exact same dash. That dash would most likely crack as well. Why has gm not been held accountable? will people have to become injured/dead before the problem is fixed? pictures can be sent on request.

My vehicle has 28,000 miles on it and my dash is cracking. It started cracking while on a cross country trip from California to georgia. It is cracking in several places and I am afraid the plastic like shards could become projectiles if involved in a collicion.

I own a 2014 GMC Sierra 2500hd. It is in very good condition and well maintained with less than 140,000 on it. One day after work I got into my truck and as soon as I started it I heard my dash crack. It cracked just to the right of the instrument panel by the dash vent and windshield. And has been growing ever since. If the dash is this brittle in a truck that is only 6 years old and been very well taken care of it is a safety issue. If I were to get into a crash and my airbags were to deploy, shards of hard brittle plastic would be sent through the cab possibly causing more injuries.

Dash is cracked near passenger side air bag, if deployment were to happen shrapnel will fly throughout the cab. Ive seen the same issue on numerous other vehicles of the same generation.

Top of dash board is cracked in numerous places above the steering wheel, center of dashboard, and around passenger airbag. Worried that this would be a safety concern in the event of an accident. There would be sharp pieces of dash board being thrown around the cab and might affect deployment of passenger air bag. I have additional photos but they are over the 5mb limit.

My dash is cracked around my passenger side air bag a and dropped down a little bit my concern if that air bag would open it could be a danger to me and who ever would be ridding with me. And on top of that it now rattles while driving which is a distraction,this started about 2 years ago and is getting worst.

The dash has cracked in 2 places, and this poses a safety risk of shrapnel should the airbags deploy. I understand this is a common problem with this and related models. GMC should replace the dash.

I have a 2001 GMC truck that the rear frame horn on the passenger side were the frame is welded about 6 inches from that point it has a crack all the way to the top of the frame right were the bump stop is on the frame with only about 1 inch holding the frame together as of right now the rest of the frame looked ok when inspected.

I have a 2010 GMC Sierra 2500 hd. The dash is cracked up in several pieces. I can pull these pieces up and see under them. If I am involved in a accident. These pieces could come out. These pieces are sharp and jagged. This truck has been parked under a shed and has not been involved in a accident. I was driving and noticed the dash making a vibrating noise. I looked and saw these cracks.

I have a 2010 GMC Sierra 2500 hd. The dash board is cracked up in several pieces. I was driving and noticed the dash making a vibrating noise. Looked and saw the dash cracked up. My truck has always been under a shed. It has not been involved in a accident. The dash is cracked in pieces that I can pull up. If I am in an accident,these pieces will come out. They are sharp and jagged.

Dash is fully cracked at the corner of the passenger airbag. In addition, a crack formed above the instrument panel and continued to spread.

Takata recall, I have a letter from gm. Concerning the air bag recall dated 07/2016 informing me of said recall and stating that I would be notified when parts are available for repairs. That has been over a year ago and now I have a crack in the corner of the dash panel where the air-bag is located. After doing some research it appears that gm. Has issues with gm trucks, SUV's etc. From year 2007 until at least 2013 concerning this issue. I have contacted gm. Dealers and gm their self concerning repairs and or replacement of the airbags and stated my concerns with the dash being cracked in this location. These airbags have been documented to kill or injure people and as a concerned owner of one of these vehicles I feel gm. Is not moving fast enough to rectify this situation. There are millions of these vehicles affected by this recall on the road every day and that leads to greater risk of death or injury. I should not have to get rid of my vehicle because of safety concerns by the manufacturer. Thanks in advance for any assistance in this matter.

There are two cracks on the dashboard. The first crack is above the instrument panel on the left side of it. The second crack is above the airbag in the left hand corner on passenger side. Truck is garage kept and not a daily driven truck it spends most of its life in the garage out of sun. The dashboard plastic is a cheap material compared to the slightly flexible plastic that is on the doors. There are thousands of complaints with various models of gm and chevy with this exact problem in the same spots throughout the internet. There was not a specific incident in which I recall for the dashboard to crack. But the ease at which the dash has seemed to crack, the location of one around the airbag and the amount of complaints with this issue makes it seem like it is possibly a hazardous defect that could cause pieces of the dash to become shrapenal in the event of a crash or airbag deployment given the cracks are located directly in front of the driver and directly in front of the passenger around the airbag.

There is a crack in the dashboard near the passenger aigbag. It's concerning that it's so close to the airbag and seems to be a safety concern. Not sure how long it's been there. I just noticed it this week.

The vehicles dashboard is beginning to crack in multiple locations. This truck has less than 30,000 miles on it and it's only used as a leisure vehicle. One of the areas of major concern is, the crack that leads directly to the airbag. If the airbag were to deploy, I believe that shards of plastic would be thrown all over the interior of the vehicle. There's no reason for this dashboard to crack and the repair would be close to $1,000 dollars. In my opinion this is a manufacture defect, and a huge oversight on quality control.

August 19, 2016 truck was in an accident when the vehicle went out of control. . A bracket on the left front of the truck broke and there appeared to be a crack on it. We believe the accident was caused by the bracket braking and then made it so that we could not control the vehicle.

There is a small crack in the dashboard next to the airbag. GMC will not repair it at their cost.

Cracked dash going from the passenger side airbag cover to the dash vent. Also, the mounting bracket for the sames vent clip is broken causing the dash cover to bounce around.

My dash cracked and I see this is a real problem. They say $900 to fix and my truck has just 40k on it and less then 2 years old.

The dashboard cracked at the passenger side airbag @ 34,000 miles I had the dashboard replaced. Now the replaced dash has cracked once again this time on the driver side 70,000 miles.

Dash is cracking around passenger airbag and above instrument cluster. The safety concern is that during a wreck what will the cracked dash do when airbags are deployed. A recall should be required due to defects in dash manufacturing.

The dash of my 2007 GMC 2500hd pickup truck has cracked in several places including around the passenger side airbag, up and over the instrument cluster hump, and in the middle of the dash. These cracks have expanded over the past year and have become quite large. I am concerned that the cracks at the airbag cover may impede the proper function of the airbag system as well. This seems to be an ongoing problem with many GMC truck owners with model years 2007 - 2011 and my truck displays cracking very similar to others posted to websites on the internet.

The dashboard in my 2013 GMC Sierra 2500hd has a crack that runs from the radius of the upper left hand corner of the passenger side airbag to the fwd edge of the dashboard that runs parallel to the windshield. The crack penetrates through the dashboard completely creating two separate sections with almost complete freedom of movement. Activation by the airbag will cause interference/contact between the device, and/or its components, and with the non-secured sections of the dashboard and most likely result in them being separated/dislodged and potentially launched in the cabin resulting in possible strikes to occupants. The vehicle was parked in my driveway with no crack and when I emerged the next morning and entered the vehicle, started the engine, the crack occurred. The mere potential for interference between the air bag activation and broken dashboard sections, obviously due to a poor, insufficiently tested design, (reliability testing?) should drive the engineers to revisit current risk analysis tools. It's clear the rpn for this type of failure mode in an fmea would not qualify under current industry standards.

I currently have a 2012 GMC pick up with large crack over the instrument panel.
